Today we take the new Southern Custom CC Hybrid motor out for a rip.
I will give some important thoughts that new builders need to know about hybrids, as well as my own opinion about this particular motor.
These motors will be found here when they hit the market in the next 1-2 months. www.southerncustomcc.com/engines
The estimated price for this motor is about $325.00
We upload motorized bike videos every week (sometimes more)!
FAQs:
Oil: 32:1, semi synthetic, random brands.
Gas: 87oct
Spark Plug: NGK B8HS (yd-100), NGK B6HS (pk80)
Parts: I buy mostly from Amazon.
Favorite Motor: Zeda (Firestorm) Triple 40
Favorite Carburetor: NT Speed
Favorite Bike For A Motor: I don't have one yet.

I'm 100% in agreement with "practical power". I'm more interested in being able to accelerate with traffic, climb hills, and pull out of the way if needed. Top speed is irrelevant when the bike stability and integrity is in jeopardy. If I want to go faster than 40mph, I'd much rather do it on a motorcycle.

Great video bro I have to agree fully with this video n I also agree that a minarelli is not the type of motor you want to go for top speed on a trail or your asking for it but people that never had one don’t understand the power videos don’t do it justice n people still try n compare with a regular motor kit not realizing there is a big difference n the minarelli is very picky about how it’s tuned n set up anyway keep up the good work bro

The dead zone is (i think) caused by a carb switching the flow from pilot to the main jet. It's about having a big carb on a small engine, the dead spot is more noticeable. You'd have to use a carb with no pilot jet to get rid of it but it would lose bottom end in general

@@novavroomvroom2979 It would be pretty difficult. You'd have to have a fuel pump to pressurize fuel to an injector, a controller that monitors engine temp, air temp, ignition timing, mass airflow to the intake, and drive the injector at the right time with the correct amount of dwell according to the sensor data.

Yes, on an automotive carb its called " idle tip in " and that is why automobile carbs have " accelerator pumps " ( little squirt of fuel when the throttle is opened ) a carb that is too big for the motor indeed leaves a huge problem with throttle response. A needle taper has various pitches and where the transition from pilot jet to needle happens, it may be slightly too lean, and as the needle rises, the taper becomes more optimal for the a/f ratio. My 98 cr125 after modification needed a different needle pitch for the same reason. Stock, the pilot to needle transition was good, the mid was too rich, then it transitioned to a properly sized main jet. With a new needle, once warmed up, the jetting was spot on. I only changed the clip position below 68 and above 85 degrees f

You are close in tuning with the heat tempter gun, Look at some videos on RC racer motor tuning using the tempter gun. They measure the heat of the head and exhaust. The tip I can give you is, A lean motor will be a hotter temp. then a rich temp. It will swing about 5deg. in temp. I can not tell you what a ball park temp should be. Conditions such as outside air temp. can threw off readings. So try this. Start the motor and run it around the block for 5 min. Read the head temp. right next to the spark plug. also one reading on the exhaust as it leaves the cylinder. You now have a base line to work with. Next make your adjustment. Remember the leaner it gets the hotter the head and exhaust will be. Lowering the temp. just 2deg. will get you to a safe setting. Good luck my friend.

Mix it 40 to 1 and you don't change the air only the needle on the throttle there should be lines on it for different settings and always check for air leaks and make sure your gas line don't have any play because if you have to long of hose you get air in your line just a few tips and if you need your older motors to get more power make sure to put a couple holes in your air filter unless you run it without one and your pipe would give more power less back prusure more power will gain so you have good speed and take off

You mentioned about paying the price for a so called “performance head”? Don’t waste your money, do your research. There is nothing on one of the heavy, over priced chunks of aluminum that will get you performance, bottom line. They are heavier, fins are thicker so therefore they hold more heat than disperse. Really, do some research and save your money and spend it on something useful like better rims or tires. I like this video, first one I watched, because of your honesty. I’m sure nobody will offer you a product for product review. They wouldn’t like the negative opinion they would get. But this is exactly what consumers need to hear, and listen to. I’ve spent a good deal of loot on these things and I’ve learned from trial and error. I am the mechanic everyone that has a motorized bike comes to that knows me. That’s one more thing, if you aren’t mechanically inclined, don’t jump feet first into a build without having proper knowledge available. It’s not a matter of if it breaks, it’s a matter of WHEN it breaks. Thanks for the video.

Heat isn't normally an issue for the intake. Gas naturally cools and mixed wirh air it cools alot better then most think. Unless you absolutely overheat the engine intake heat isn't a problem. There is also intake insulators that will seperate the intake from the cylinder that will help if heat is an issue.

I think so, my memory is junk but I remember seeing some information about SCcc working with gomax. I think they also supply the adapted MZ65 pipes.

Im okay with you, but if you want power of demand, way dont you just get a predator and put it on a good strong frame and ride it daily ? This engine is clearly not created for low rpm's
@LAHover

Because a Phantom 85 is smaller, lighter, easier to mount, easier on the frame, and... HAS MORE POWER. The bulky 4 strokes are not my thing. Nowhere in this video did I ever say this was the best option... it's just AN option...

@@LAHover have you tried building yourself a frame and using a motoblock 4stroke ? They have a lot of power. Here in my country they even put them on old motorcycles like the equivalent of the american Harley (retro models from the 60-70) these motors can haul
