Hey! Thanks so much for your comment. Most formulas will be applicable but this best works with Google Sheets at is is connected to Google Forms for data entry. However, you could still build it in Excel for manual data entry without Forms. It's a great idea and in the future I might create trackers available in both Google Sheets and Excel.

I'm so confused at 13:13 If i add ='Enter Info'!C17 in column M on the Data page I can not manually put in my starting balance. This is only the beginning of me not understanding Step 1 on 'Entering info'

Hi Sara, basically you can enter the starting balance in either the 'Enter Info' tab or in the 'Data tab'. You will have to do it only once as all the other future balances will be calculated based on your initial entry. What I'm doing in the tutorial is linking the 'Data' tab's starting balance to 'Enter Info' tab where I can easily enter the starting balance and then the rest of the manual steps to set-up the budget. The best way would be to add them manually via the Transactions tab. Check out minute 34:22 where I do it with old data. Pretty much the same principle.

Hi Alexander! Thanks so much for your comment. Did you enter the Query formula correctly? It captures the data from the individual transactions so you need to make sure it's linked to the correct columns. Feel free to email me your spreadsheet if the issue persists. Happy to take a look!

Hi Botirjon. Thanks for your comment. If you are using an Apple device the calendar won't appear in the Google Forms. Unfortunately Google hasn't added this feature yet. You could technically skip the "date" input in Google Forms and instead just use the Timestamp that's automatically generated in Google Sheets. The monthly planned info will apply to all months. So enter your planned monthly budget and it will be the same number for every month for you to compare actual vs planned. Hope that makes sense!

Hi Andrew. Thanks so much! Yes, categories can be easily changed in the Google Forms as well as the info tab where you enter your budgets. In terms of sub categories currently you're able to just enter one category per transaction. This is a great idea though and I'll implement it in a 3rd Gen tracker. In the meantime you could tweak the tracker formulas to include certain sub-categories under the total of a category. Give it a crack and let me know how you go, always happy to help!

Hi Krista, when you open the form to link it there is a "view" icon where it sends you the the actual form you've built to enter data. You can also copy that link and add it to your phone to do it from there.

Hey, yes it is. It's just extra data for people who might track their budget by financial year (June to July) instead of January to December. The formulas take the information from columns K-M though so if you want to change your yearly breakdown it has to be from K-M.

Evening! Was following through the tutorial till 19:15. Oct Starting Bal: $10K and Ending Bal: $11,175. However, is there an error when Nov Starting Bal is reflected $11,285.24 instead of $11,175 (Oct ending)? Please help 😊

Hey! As balances are calculated by transaction, the starting balance of a month is the running balance plus your income or expense. This is because the running balance at the beginning of the month takes the previous running balance and adds/subtracts the amount you entered. Therefore, we add up everything in that line to get the correct starting balance. In other words, starting balance always matches the latest running balance of the last month. Remember the formulas in cells M2 and M3 are different, this could be the reason you're seeing the incorrect figures. Let me know if you need any further assistance!

@@PlanetFinanceOfficial Thanks for the revert! ☺realized where the error might be. the formula for Cell O2 provided in the formula sheet should be =IF(ISBLANK(B2),"",M2+E2-J2) instead of =IF(ISBLANK(B2),"",M2+E2+J2). After i changed to "-J2", the starting balance matches the running balance of last month! Great tutorial by the way! Many thanks for the upload!

love your videos and tutorials. quick question i save in foreign currency (other then what i earn and spend) how would i be able to track that. my savings skews my expenses as i currently book that as an expense. thanks again great tutorial

Hi Raoul, thanks so much for your comment! In terms of foreign currency, this tracker currently allows only 1 input of currency. You can easily change it to any currency you want. However, if you want multiple currencies you will have to wait for a future upgrade for this tracker that I'm currently working on. There is no need to input savings if you enter expenses and income as savings are automatically calculated.

@@PlanetFinanceOfficial thanks for the quick feedback I know the savings does that but what I do for example is. When I get salary I change say 30% in foreign currency to save. The tracker will think that I have that amount still availeble. That's why I asked. But I'll wait for v3 was thinking of creating a 3e option in the form and deduct the savings from salary so it doesn't count double?

The text in the categories is very sensitive so just make sure to change it in the Google Forms, all your past transactions and double check the categories you've linked in Monthly and Category Analyses are linked and not hardcoded. Hey! Thanks so much for your comment. I believe if you share access to the Google Form to edit, someone could modify/add categories in the Google Form. Just remember this will need to be replicated in the sheet so that the analysis captures the category names. @@PlanetFinanceOfficial Sure, just a remark : at 11min about the formula of Average Expense/Category , if we have same category repeated in one month, the total expense/month would appear as much as the category is in that month, then the Average formula would take all the sums for that category in the same month into the calculation which will lead to a false result. Wouldn't be necessary to add another condition to the Average formula to calculate for a specific month as in the Sum formula?

Hey diana! Nop, if you decied to enter the Patreon subscription you will get a link that doesn't expire, even if you decide to remove your Patreon subscription. Also, all trackers upload are in View Mode only, so for you to enter your own data you need to make a copy into your private account that is yours forever.

Hey! You can edit the categories in both 'Enter Info' tab and also the google form, nothing should break if you do. In terms of adding more than in the available space, you will need to edit the sheet accordingly. E.g. adding new rows to 'Enter Info', 'Category' and 'Monthly Analysis'. I'll make sure to leave extra space in the upcoming updated version.

Hi Akila, thanks for your feedback. I fast forward certain parts as my trackers are very dense and intricate and I don't want to have 3-5 hour videos. Salut Fabien. Merci beaucoup pour ton commentaire. Je l'apprécie beaucoup. Tu poudrais resolver ce soucis quand tu changes la locale du Google Sheets. Tu dois aller à File --> Settings --> et changer la Locale à un autre pays. Après tu pourras changer la devise et les points/decimals devrair changer. Tu peux changer le settings du formaulaire aussi. Si le probleme n'est pa resolvé avec ça, s'il te plait envoi moi un courrier électronique et nous chercherons une solution ensemble. De toute façon j'aimerai pratiquer mon français! Merci, PF
