I did not know that matches could be fireproof lol 7:39. I had to play it back a few times. Great video.

My Fire Kit consist of a pair of Reading Glasses for Solar Ignition, and a Key Ring Liquid Match, which gives me both a Spark Ignition Source with the Ferrocerium striker, and flame ignition with a wide variety of common fuels. A Zippo would work too but i already have enough in my pockets. 3 independent sources of ignition with two common items.

Very nice kit. I love redundancies.
@martinerhard84475 жыл бұрын
The kit is way too big and way too much redundant and unnecessary stuff that just increases the weight. Ever traveled a week with a heavy bag? Get rid of all the stuff you dont really need that includes: the patches, the instant fire packs, the life fire, the backup stricker, the light my fire tinder, and the zippo fire starter and the utility starter, dont take uneffectiv tinder with you if you could take better stuff, fire fuse out as well, waterprood matches out if you got the stormproof and the paleo stove. Bellow was interesting...can you also drink through it? What you should take with you: - the ferro rod - some bic lighters - stormproof matches - the lense - vaseline (is multipurpose) with cotton balls - some charcloth (very light, takes a spark like nothing else, gets very hot with enough air) - alkohol pads for wounds (yes they also burn) - glycerin and potassium permanganate....these two start a "chemical" and very very hot flame. Also you can eat glycerin and the potassium permanganate can be used to treat water and in multiple medical ways. - ranger bands and duct tape, both multipurpose and burn

One important thing you may have forgotten to mention: electric (click) Bic lighters can be used after being submerged in water, unlike a normal, flint-style lighter.

I'm new to all this building go bags and survival kits. But what's the point of 10 ways to start a fire? Your pack a single BIC and some tinder and you shouldnt have an issue. I can understand having a redundant option like the matches or the fire rods but I keep seeing people with 5 or more methods to start a fire. Good video tho!

I think they may have dissliked this because its an epic overkill. You see, experienced woodsmen see right trhough so many of these preppers. Weight is a big issue going out in the woods, and bringing a nuclear bomb is not going to do. Stuff that shit in a tactical bag with shitty carry system, and you wont be walking long. But then again, many of these preppers are not far in the woods, and they are mostly gearfreaks anyways. I too have a shitload of gear, because as them I am a gear freak, but im also grown up in the woods, or mountains in my case, and I know what works and dont reagrding weight and packs.

I don't like apocabox because you can't buy past boxes, I'm a 17 year old boy that wants to be in the prepping, bugout industry and as such when I become independent I can buy past boxes
@heavyhauler57017 жыл бұрын
You don't need to buy the boxes, just order online or buy from local stores. Just do some research, bud. Also, there is Battlbox; you can buy past boxes from them.

@blueeyeswhitedragon98395 жыл бұрын
@@martinerhard8447 :- pencil sharpener will process twigs into shavings, better than feather sticks. LOL! If you carried all this with you every day, every where...they would lock you up in the loony bin. Remember, it is what is in your head, not in your EDC monster hip carry pack, that is important.
@martinerhard84475 жыл бұрын
@@blueeyeswhitedragon9839 I dont know if you ever made proper feather sticks, but they work better than pencil sharpener wood shavings. The pencil sharpener is redundant and unnecessary weight if you have a knife with you
@blueeyeswhitedragon98395 жыл бұрын
@@martinerhard8447 :- You are an idiot! That comment was sarcasm! But true idiots would of course take the idea as serious. I usually carry an electric pencil sharpener with me when I go out-doors, all the better to process fire tinder. The only problem is the dang extension cord! Edit:- You are correct about the knife thing...and since I'm already burdened with the extension cord, I might as well pick up one of those electric knives. Then watch out! I be able to process all types of tinder & kindeling.

@@martinerhard8447 :- Dear Sir; I believe that it is you who needs to use some critical thinking skills when watching & commenting on the internet. A common form of comedy - sarcasm- is often used in these forums to express either agreement or even disagreement. Of course a certain level of education, maturity, and intelligence are all required inorder to appreciate this form of comedy, of which you seem to be without. No problem, those of us who understand...we "get it", to those who do not understand, we can only hope that they are still able to learn, or failing that, maybe they should think before reacting in a negative manner. I realize that this reply is extremely negative itself, but that is in reply to your "mother" comment, which was unwarranted. Sorry I called you an idiot...but you have made that issue clear for everyone to see.
