Just a thought, after your first 40mins, cover with foil and hold down with toothpicks, keep at same temp for ten mins and it should stop from burning the top, and also should be cooked just right, hope it helps. All the best.

Love your programmes Kerry, and really admire you. If I made that sponge, I would slice each slice in half and spread jam on it then serve it as a pudding with lovely home made custard on it , just for a change. OR, add a tablespoon of cocoa powder, to make a chocolate sponge and serve with chocolate sauce on for another pudding. (My sons’ favourite).Birds custard powder is so easy to make. Off now to try making your bread in my new Ninja, which I love. Keep up the good work Kerry, we all love your videos - you’re brilliant. x

I make cakes and bake in my airfryer and they're always great. I do preheat and start off at 160c and then reduce to 150c fot the last 10 minutes. A total of 45 minutes. Another great video kerry thank you.
@budgetcookinguk Жыл бұрын
That's fab Suzanne 😃👍💕 and thank you. In cake tins, it always works for me (without preheat thou) as well, I enjoyed seeing if it would work directly in the basket. The cosori dual blaze definitely better for this method, what with its advantages of having the lower heating element as well as the top one.

Trial and error, stick a bit of cream and jam on it, as you say “it’s cake”. Made the no knead bread, afraid I won’t be making it again as we ate it warm with lashings of butter in a day😮seriously it turned out a treat, used a rectangle glass dish as didn’t have a round tin small enough. Made amazing bread and butter pudding in the ninja, came out crispy on top and perfect inside. Thanx

Hi Kerry, I do a Victoria sponge in a similar way, trouble is the fryer cooks outside in so, once I cooked for 30 mins I then put the crisp tray on top, wrapped in tin foil with a few holes in then cook for a further 15 mins, this stops the top cooking to much.

Hi Kerry, it didn't turn out too bad, i thought you could have used the under side for the top. That's the only thing with just having one element. I made the tray bake the other day but i only had 3 eggs so i didn't use as much flour. Instead of putting it right on the bottom i used a square foil container, i do think the air fryers turn out a drier cake than the oven. What I'm going to try next time is putting a bit water in the bottom and use the foil container again

Like othera have said preheating could have helped, i know it might sound silly but i wet my parchment paper and always scrunch it up as i find it sits better. It might be worth trying that the next time. I think it didnt look too bad but i do find they seem a tad moist/wetter than normal but as always it trial and error and you always show us regardless of the results which I love. I made ahortbread for the first time in the air fryer to which Harriaon said "it tastes like real shortbread" dont know what he thought it was going to taste of haha. I need to try the wetting the parchment paper technique Jac, I've not tried that before. The cosori dual blaze is better but then it's got the advantage of the bottom element as well as the top. Love your shortbread pics (replied!) plus the chicken oops no duck fan! pic lol. Re the other thing, someone said "why am i not responding to the comments any more?!, it's a shame blah blah". Its amazing how one slightly negative comment can effect you!🥴🥴
@jacquelinebuist1128 Жыл бұрын
@budgetcookinguk I do that as a rule now, Kerry, and you don't notice. Just remember to give it a shake as obviously the water sits on the top. It also makes it more playable. I have replied to the chicken ops no it's a duck 😅😅. Honestly, do not let it bother you. You are a busy mum, running a house, kids a beautiful dog (hugs to Rosie), 2 youtube channels to entertain us. It's not just a case of pointing the camera and publish. It's a lot of behind the scenes work that we don't see that takes up so much time. The fact that you even respond to any is amazing, so NO, don't let it bother you. Love to you all from us all xxxxx Jac ♥️💚

@j.brewer7717 I wonder if Kerry put out a video showing just how difficult running even 1 youtube channel is never mind 2, then people might not be as quick to comment. I didn't Karen, wasn't sure how that would effect parchment paper that I had already put into the basket 👍👍
@karentoynton8948 Жыл бұрын
@@budgetcookinguk yes I agree with heat your saying , I was thinking it may have helped putting the batter into a warm area at the start but your right, if it was in a separate tin , that could be possible, but impossible, unless you had two baskets and just used the tray on one side for pre heating , then when hot put the batter tray in to that side, however I do not have two baskets on mine so not sure how that may work. Maybe just cook a little hotter then reduce temp. The cake looked ok however Kerry , maybe not one of my best thoughts hehe. Must have been my major op , it gave me a blonde moment hahs, as they say.

I have, link here kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKOaqYWdZ8iXi8Usi=KrOcv3lslyrRofCI we call the thing that makes a cake a cake a sponge - I copied this off of google as my explanation makes little sense lol: Sponge cake is a light cake made with egg, flour and sugar, sometimes leavened with baking powder. Some sponge cakes do not contain egg yolks, like angel food cake, but most of them do. Sponge cakes, leavened with beaten eggs, originated during the Renaissance, possibly in Spain. Hope that helps!😃👍👍
