@FromHeadtoCurve4 жыл бұрын
No lies here! It can be difficult depending on how you view it. Some people think they have to pay lump sums of money in order to be considered “saving effectively” not true at all. Even if you chunk $10 every 2 weeks into your savings account you’re still doing good. It’s about consistency & discipline. Work your way up to the 10%.

Loving this video. I did most of these steps over the past few years. I just became debt free in July 2019. Now I've been working on my savings. It's true...you have to write it down on paper to get a visual of what you're up against. That's the part most people overlook. It can be intimidating but how bad do you want it. My goal now is to save $10k by December and declutter my life which I've consistently been doing, especially with people. I want to purchase a home within 3-5 years. This will give me time to stack my $$$ so that when I buy I won't be "house poor" but will be able to buy with a savings and cushion account in place for security and emergency purposes.
@FromHeadtoCurve4 жыл бұрын
You got your head on straight suga!!! Yes, so many people get intimidated by writing down their current situation or they just don’t want to take the time to do it. Congratulations on being debt free babe! 😆 I know you feel so good & peaceful 🙌🏾
@poet82n4 жыл бұрын
@@FromHeadtoCurve Yes. It feels good. And once I hit $10k savings by December, I'll feel even better. I want to save 1 year's worth of living expenses, which will take a couple of years. Once that's saved, I'll start my house fund (about 3 years). One step at a time. I think some people have to hit rock bottom before they "get it". I hit homelessness pretty hard where I couldn't even afford a cup of coffee. Now I'm debt free but it took time to build stability. This is a microwave generation. No one wants to take the time to put their debt and savings goals in a slow cooker on low and watch it rise to a point of completion. That's the way I see it. Not to say it can't happen quicker but we need to give ourselves time and be proud of the small momentum we're building.

Lol congratulations Hun! I hope you guys really enjoy it here in Texas! Turbo Tax is perfect! It’s actually built for non accountants so it walks you through your taxes every step of the way. Question: This year I want to be debt free! I have every bill imaginable especially clothing, student loans, and medical bills. I don’t know how to start or where to start. Can consolidation be an option? What options are available?
@FromHeadtoCurve4 жыл бұрын
Hey Hun! This is exactly what I was talking about in the video. Get the balances of all of your debt, list them from the smallest to the largest, then go through your income and all of your expenses (i.e. create a budget) and figure out how much money you can allocate to drastically paying off your debt. Start with paying off the smallest debt first and making minimum payments on all of the other debt. Once the smallest is paid off then take the amount you were paying on the first smallest and apply it to the next smallest plus that debts minimum. Keep doing this until all of your debt is paid off. Make payments towards your debt every time you get paid. And yes I would definitely call the student loan lender and consolidate your loans. The sauce is in the budget. You’re not going to know what to do until you know exactly how much you bringing in and exactly how much debt you need to pay off in order to be debt-free. That’s why I created the budget template. If you list everything out and make this your first step, then you’ll know what your next step is and how much you’re working with to pay off your debt.

@FromHeadtoCurve4 жыл бұрын
I’m the same. I’m salary but I still get paid biweekly. So whenever I get paid I sit down to pay bills & allocate money & that’s when I budget. So I do it twice a month. Just add how much you have gotten paid in the same cell for that month. It should be the total amount.

Hi Ashley! I noticed you mention the snowball method but also mentioned the avalanche method by paying off those bills with a higher interest rate, do you recommend put a small portion towards each debt at a time or is it mite efficient to focus solely on one debt at a time? Thanks so much in advance ☺️
@FromHeadtoCurve4 жыл бұрын
You should definitely be paying the minimum on all of your debt, and paying extra money on top of the minimum for the smallest debt until it’s paid off. Then do the same for the next smallest. But you should be focused on paying all of your bills on time as well, so keep paying the minimum on everything while you do this.

Question: is there a place on the budget template to include what you may already have in savings? I didn't see it on the video.
@FromHeadtoCurve4 жыл бұрын
Great catch! What you can do is put your current savings amount on that same line in column D (should be cell D11) then in the formula at the end of that line (cell Q11) edit the formula to include cell D11. So your total formula in cell Q11 should be =Sum(D11:P11) This will add what your balance is now to what you put in your savings through the year. Let me know if you have any other questions ☺️

Hey Sarah! I'm not sure what you heard, but I definitely didn't say that God will only bless those who tithe. What I did say is paying tithes is obeying God as He mentions to do this many times throughout the bible. You can start at Malachi 3:8-12 or Proverbs 3:9-10 if you need some examples. I also said that everything you manage will be protected if you tithe God faithfully. I'm not sure where your comment is coming from.

Are you supposed to focus on paying down the debt and then start saving the $1000 later. Or work on both?

Hey good question . I believe she just said about savings and debt if you have NO savings we should start there first . It’s def not the easiest thing in the world but it’s her tip after tithes

Yes! Start saving the $1000 emergency fund first, then focus on debt, then focus on your 3-6 month cushion account. Look at paying your 10% tithes for the rest of your life, so that is done while you are working on everything else.

I believe a Christian will not just stay with someone rent free. That is not Christian, even if it's your parents or family. It sounds selfish. If they won't take the money save it in a second savings account and when you leave and have your own place, put it in their bank account or give it to them at your house warming party. To say how much you appreciate them. Save money by not shopping and not eating out, cutting off lights, and not buying things you don't need. No one likes to know they pay all the bills and the person living rent free is got something new every time they walk Thur the door. Think about it. Let a stranger live with you that you trust and see what you think. Like a third or fourth cousin.
