Looks great. It's nice to scrap around with bits here and there at no cost. The weather has gotten better here in the New York area, so I've pulled out the layout from storage in my garage during the colder months. I have plans in refurbishing it during the spring and summer. You've inspired me!! Take care and stay well.

If you show an interest in the hobby and kindly ask on a page if anyone has some spare bits you may be surprised what you can come by for very cheap. It may not be the flashiest setup but who cares if you are enjoying it! Keep up the good work.

This is the kind of content that made me subscribe to BMR. I don't do very well with long projects so putting together a layout in four days is quite inspiring. I am going to have a go at using a box from an LED monitor as a baseboard.

What are you building next week .... Rome? :-) Looks like another great little layout, full of atmosphere and on which to have some shunting fun. Of all the Peco backscenes, the Industrial Town ones are to my mind, the best. The corrugated iron fencing really adds a run-down inner-city feel, and also maybe suggests that the station has either been earmarked for closure or that it's totally new and the builders haven't yet gotten around to removing the fencing. Hiding the exit to the FY with buildings is a good alternative to the usual bridge/tunnel.

You're great on minimalist layouts, this one is one of your best ideas. Personnaly, I realy like little town station, because you can put a lot of traffic in them, as you want to with this one. Sounds nice, let's wait for the forthcoming developpements.

Great little layout, love how it's come together so quickly. Having the fence at the back is a great way to hide the backscene joint... I did something similar on my shunting layout using sandwich ties painted brown as a fence and it works surprisingly well! Keep up the great work 👍

This is grand! I could get as much enjoyment from operating this as I could watching trains run on a large layout and, as always, you do a wonderful job showcasing it. I wonder if that backscene is available in a larger scale like O scale...it has the perfect combination of a bustling town with the hint of something beyond it...

I call this tool, that I've invented, "The Magnetic Uncoupling Stick". It is a plastic tube with a magnet glued into it to facilitate hand tool uncoupling of metal hooked tension lock & continental Bemo couplings by magnetic attraction. When held (pointing downwards) over the couplings between the wagons, the magnetic field causes the hooks (or loops, in the case of Bemo) to raise up, thus uncoupling the wagons from each other. So long as the magnetic uncoupling stick is held over the coupling hooks or Bemo loops, they'll remain raised. A nudge with the magnetic uncoupler stick moves the wagons apart far enough to prevent coupling up again. I could also be made by gluing a small neodymium magnet into an old biro tube or onto the end of a pencil. Compared to cumbersome striker lifting uncoupling tools, such as the old Triang R.160 and the like, it isn't hampered by other rolling stock on adjacent tracks or scenery getting in the way because the magnetic uncoupling stick is deployed from directly above the wagon's couplings. It even works on curves. Create your own and try it out.

Another layout started, and another three abandoned! If you´ve taken a building off it, does that mean the dock layout is over? I don´t mean to be rude, I´ve just notice that you rarely ever go back to old ones once you´ve started a new layout.
@BudgetModelRailways3 жыл бұрын
I have finished and sold at least eight layouts, I've lost count, and finished and exhibited three more. There is no point banging on at a layout you've lost interest in, the hobby is supposed to be about fun
