Budgie was an outstanding rock outfit, however, they were vastly underrated and under appreciated. This song is a classic. Budgie has a library of excellent music. RIP Burke Shelley.

Ah....Budgie. Gotta love 'em. Welsh Metal. Tony Bourge, such a great guitarist. Great humour in their song titles too. Who can forget 'In the heat of a docker's Armpit'. Saw them several times in the '70's. They could make one hell of a racket for 3 piece. Deserved way more recognition and respect than they ever got in their heyday but influenced soooo many later bands. Glad you liked them.

and of course "Nude Disintegrating Parachutist Woman" or "You're the Biggest thing since Powdered Milk" Saw them at last 10 times in the 70's and they always delivered... twice at Birmingham Town Hall (England) with Judas Priest as their opening support act. Gotta love Budgie.
@mikaelfridsen16324 ай бұрын
@@bishopswoodcrafts Never saw them, but one of my top favorite bands since I heard them first, which was about late 70s, was still an early teenager in rural Sweden then, not easy to find that kind of music,. and if you could, I could not afford more than an album a year or so. Until 12 years old I always wanted a Status Quo album, but about 14 I wanted Budgie, a cousin with more than a bit more budget than I had, got magazines. And of course got everything even far from reason from my family's perspective. Anyway he did have a lot of impacts to my taste of music I think, or probably did give me opportunity to listening to thing I did not now existed otherwise. The thing is, he got them by subscribing to some club, only a year or so older (-62 contra 63). Ranting, Budgie are still awesome, but a bit less so in the later albums, best album , well, conflicted, Never turn your back or in for the kill I think.

These guys were mostly unknown in the US. I've heard them compared to Rush, but I really dont think so. They've got a good catalog of hard rockin tunes so I hope we hear more Budgie!
@paulfenwick87674 ай бұрын
I think part of the comparison is the bass/vocalists. They are both different from "mainstream" rock vocalists but for me, Burke Shelley is a much better vocalist than Geddy Lee, who is tiresome to listen to after about 5 minutes. Rush are a bit more technical but Budgie rock better. Just my thoughts Chaz 🙂
@chazblitz4 ай бұрын
@paulfenwick8767 I like em both. I believe the comparison is because both singers operate in a higher register. The only time you could've compared them musically was with Rush's debut album, which was straight out hard rock.

love the smirk on Tony Bourge's face at the beginning, like he knows he's playing a really bad ass riff, lol Burke Shelley's vocals and bass are brill too. Metallica did a version of this but is piss poor compared to this. Saw them a few times around this period and they never failed to impress. Feel special to have seen them in their prime. Good reaction 🙂
