As far as striking first, assault can be action or gesture. Its how police often act. So if thr assailant states he will hurt you or approach in agressive manner or posture it should be enough to articulate your defense. Love your stuff

It's always good to go over the basics, AGAIN. The moment a student/teacher thinks they don't need to cover the basics is the moment the get their ass handed to them. Meaning, yes I knew this basic technique, BUT he added a little extra flavor to make for a "tasty meal". Lol I had always been taught, and I taught, to use the elbow opposite of the block for the strike, But I like the idea using the elbow off of the block to strike, as another option. This is explained in a clear fashion.This is my first vid from this channel. It won't be my last. Thank you for this! Every little bit helps.

Excellent coaching. 40+ years. Very important throw your assailant off, loud and verbally: Hey, I don’t want to fight. First couple of strikes are open handed. Bones break with an open hand. Set your guard with open hands. Very important , no video with closed hands. We train, so we have choices. Nothing but love , Bother 💕🙏

As in flinch reaction ala Tony Blaur system, that driving elbow is definitely a great tip to practice & ingrain. The hooks however, while being fine suggestions to drill in the dojo for form, I don't believe that in the dynamics of an actual attack situation, one would have the time to pull off successfully
@Selfdefensegoat2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, anything in real life is complicated for sure. Taking minimal damage takes priority.
@mutant01772 жыл бұрын
My problem with this, is you have to make some kind of assessment about the strike. Very hard in the chaos of a (non-sport) fight. I stick with the Cover-Crash from Lee Morrison. You do not have to know what exactly comes and you can use it active and reactive.

Thank you for saying that about the hay maker punch. There's a lot of cameras around. We're martial artist, but we must be in control
@Tarotainment2 жыл бұрын
This is super if you have the awareness to identify a punch as an untrained fighter in a real life situation.. but most can't. Don't try to identify and counter a punch if you don't have experience seeing punches thrown to know how to predict and identify in the moment what is happening.

This is very well done. Thanks. I'd like to see you adapt your response style to accomodate legal liability. What I mean is I'd like to see you mix in a few vital targets, while sparing the opponent facial trauma. When cops come and the guy's face is bleeding, bruised, and cut.... Say: "Hello handcuffs!" If his face is as fresh as when he left his mommy's house, the cops might not react as badly. Also, the impact on witnesses will be less and they might go easy. Just something I'd like to see from you bro. You look like your act is together. Thanks.

That's great if they are throwing just on punch like it's a face, but if that's not the case, I wouldn't advise that particular technique. Not being pessimistic but realistic. I was in the school and two males were fighting. The assistant principal restrained one and as I approached the other, I will be honest, his right and left were coming so fast, that technique would not and could not work. When saw that, I did what martial artist should be able to do: I adapted. I timed his punches, parried his right with my left while moving to my left ever so slightly, bear hugged him for behind until calmed down and surrendered. Adaptability 😉

I use my brand-new 10mm SIG from 5-7 meters away and end the "fight" forever with one 180 gr. hollow point to the head-Retired Deputy Sheriff (but we are ALWAYS officers of the Court)-Ricky Dale Wyatt Berry Earp-and yes, I AM related. I would "Be in Mortal fear for my life" as I'm 69 years old, a multiple stroke victim and permanently disabled and handicapped, and MY word against a dead man's in Court will ALWAYS prevail-he cannot testify against me, but I can testify against HIM! I ALWAYS have a legal defense; he has NONE. It NEVER gets to a trial. Man in Wally-World at Muskogee killed three "security guards" last year. He's a vet in a wheel-chair, they accosted him, he's getting 9 figures from the Waltons for them putting him on the floor out of his chair.

Haymakers work. Just watch fights in a hockey game. It's very close to what real fights r like. Offence wins. Once u do defense, u will b defeated , always.
