The bottle is the only way to drink Budweiser. Just like a pint or tall pint is the only way to drink Blue Moon and Guinness. Nice video.

Seeing the bottle win in almost every can vs. bottle episode does make me a little sad that many breweries are shifting to cans over bottles. I understand it is because of cost and sustainability reasons, but it does seem like the product inside is not quite the same. In particular, Sierra Nevada's Celebration IPA shifting to cans was disappointing to me. I also wonder if cans can hold up to aging like bottles, as I've got a few canned barleywines and imperial stouts in the "cellar" at home. Congrats on the sleek website, guys!

Thank you! And welcome , our first ever Beer Evangelist 🍻 Ageing beer in different formats is such an interesting topic and there unfortunately hasn't been much data posted online which points one way or another. In general they say cans are preferable for ageing as they're 100% efficient in keeping light away from the beer. But there are so many variables at play including the type of beer, quality of the cap, method used to seal it, temperature the beer is stored at, etc. The effectiveness of the seal to maximize ageing in a bottle vs a can is something we'd love to learn more about. We have some really interesting interviews coming up and we're going to dig into this further with some big brewers.

Can vs. bottle is a tie, for me.
@yearginclarke2 ай бұрын
Back about 20 years ago when I drank lots of regular Bud, I preferred the cans. For me at least, back then it seemed the cans were better. On average it seemed the bottles used to taste slightly more "skunky". Sometimes I got good tasting bottles. Even when looking at the born on date (when they still had that) and getting the freshest possible bottles, it was still always a toss up for me. I haven't drank much Bud in recent years, so I can't comment on their cans vs. bottles today. However with Miller High Life I've always preferred the bottles. Every single time I've tried their cans they always tasted different to me.

The inside of cans are lined with plastic and the plastic contains BPA which is a non healthy chemical. This chemical gets into the beer. Because of this I prefer bottles. The problem with bottles is that they often cost more and are rarely available as singles. I had a bud light in a bottle and in a can and they tasted completely different. Not sure why. The bottle tasted like nector from heaven (though a little watery) and the can tasted like an average beer on the watery side and was quite bitter unlike the bottle. Anyway, I enjoy your channel and thankyou both for making the content. Your work is appreciated.

This probably will make me sound like an ass. In general for beer, I always buy bottles if I have a choice. It's all about the experience. I like the process of removing the bottle cap more than pulling the tab on a can. I like the cleaner pouring from glass, and then swirling to get the sediments out. It's like a ritual each time and forces you to appreciate the beer. I'm not saying you can't appreciate the same with cans, but it's still a different experience. Also presentation matters if the beer is expensive. With that said, I have to admit beer in cans yield better taste because it keep the beer fresher for longer, which means more consistent quality. I guess there is a science in how the beer ferment more or less in different containers. Probably things like gueuze should stay in bottles. But overall cans does give fresher and crisper taste as you mentioned. With one exception, when it come the typical Guinness, I would go for cans over bottles every times.

That's a fantastic description and I could not agree more with you! The bottle definitely has its magic. Like you mentioned, it really depends on the beer. I had this beer from the bottle and it tasted like water. Though I was newer to beer and didn't really know what i was looking for in terms of taste. I think if i had poored it into a glass then i would have tasted it. Then I had it in a glass from a can recently and it tasted like delicious beer. I am sort of confused. I also noticed that the same beer often tasted different to me different times i drank it. I had bud light in a bottle years ago and it tasted completely different than when i had it in a can. I also had corona twice in a bottle and they tasted different each time and when i had the corona in a can it tasted way different. Though it tasted good all of the times. Overall I prefer bottle because the inside of cans are lined with plastic which contains bpa and some of the bpa does get into the beer, and bpa is not god for you. I often buy singles though and they are usually not available in bottles so i buy the cans.

Budweiser in a can for me is foul. Absolutely putrid. But out of a keg, ice cold in a mug it’s my favorite and choice of all beers. Why does the beer in a can from Budweiser have that horrible spoiled putrid taste?

@makedemocrapsafraidagain4729 Жыл бұрын
Cans are perfectly sealed, little bit of air gets into a bottle the lid corrodes ever so slightly and you taste the metal, then can stops UV light as well. Bottle is just rottener. Just my theory.
