THANK YOU! - Yes, the prices were noticeably higher in the area we chose to stay in. I'm sure if we ventured into the lest tourist driven areas and even the country side of Argentina, the prices would be fairer. Thanks for the tip and the welcome!

Ciudad de Bs As is pretty awesome in my opinion, but if you want to see pure nature you have forests, mountains, beaches and more just a couple hours by plain or some by car away. It's like going to NY and saying that they didn't have any waterfalls close lol The good side is that you can come back, Argentina is really varied in nature especially so you'll love anywhere you travel here :))

Thank you! - Yes, in general, I think we would love the Andean side of Argentina down to Patagonia. We were in Chile's Patagonia region just before going to Buenos Aires... The point we're making here in this video is that Buenos Aires lacks a place where you can IMMEDIATELY step into nature and be completely surrounded by it. This is in contrast to say a place like Bogota Colombia (where we lived for 2 years). Although Bogota is quite different than Buenos Aires, you can literally find hiking on the edge of city within about 15-30 minutes from you home, and be completely surround by trees, mountains, etc. Also in contrast to Buenos Aires is Santiago. The same concept exists in Santiago, on the edge of the city is a variety of hikes you can take and just get lost in nature very quickly. Getting to them takes about 15-30 mins. If you live in Buenos Aires, and you want to escape into nature, you have to commit to a few hours of travel to do so. --- There were some other bucket list items we checked off while in Buenos Aires, so we are more than please with our experience. Since we don't live anywhere, we're really just looking a for that place we might be able to call home. Anywho! THANK YOU again. ~Jonny

Thank you for the view and comment! - Nature wise, the major point we are making is that we like cities that are much closer to nature or where you can get surrounded by nature quickly. Places like Bogota Colombia or Santiago Chile in contrast are good examples. In both of those cities we can spend about 15-30 minutes in a car and find ourselves on hiking trail deep in the forest. But with Buenos Aires, you do have to commit to a few hours of travel to get to place like the Pampa or fly out to the Andean region. Thank you for the view and detailed comment! - I will respectfully disagree, we all live our lives in comparison. Whether we do any given comparison consciously or not, the difference is always there in our subconscious. If that's comparing how Texans make meat versus Argentina, or comparing how we feel about larger cites like Bogota versus Buenos Aires, the comparison is there for those who have had the experience. --- Regarding the people, we did mention from the beginning that Argentinians are very proud of their identity and excitable people. This was unique to experience. Even in times of currency degradation, the people of Argentina still celebrate themselves and their culture. We do have a lot of respect for that. --- We are definitely early risers... It would be hard in the long run to consider calling a place like Buenos Aires home because the culture is a late night culture. --- Nature wise, we do look for places that are closer to mountains and forest and maybe even beaches. ---- In general, even though we laid out our negative experiences, they are our negative experiences due to our preferences. But that does not mean we didn't love our experience. It was genuinely awesome.
@lifetheorycouple
@lifetheorycouple 3 ай бұрын
@ggl2947 - Maybe I could have articulated it a bit better. We enjoyed the execution and flavors that were added to the meat served in Chile more than what flavors were in the meat in Buenos Aires. I understand that this is cultural too. Much of the meat that we ate in Buenos Aires, tasted like it had no salt at all. But I did love the portions and we ate ALL OF IT.

Not all meat products out of the US or Texas are bad, but there is a lot of bad ones yes... I don't believe there is anything wrong my taste or the taste of others. I'm just sharing my opinion on what I experienced.... Although the meat I ate in Chile was likely imported over from Argentina, I think it was how they prepared the meat that I liked so much along with the sauces/chimichurris they served along side it. In general, in Argentina, although the meat was good and there was a lot of it in the Argentinian plates we had, they just seamed to lack some salt. I do like at least salt on my meat. ~Jonny

Thank you! --- Yes, we noticed that there were quite a few studio apartments without washing machines for that price. We only stayed for a month... So, I could imagine it's a lot easier to strike up a better deal if you're staying for a longer period like 1 year or 10 years. - Since 2022, when Argentina won the world cup, the currency when through a massive hyper inflation event in 2023... So, by the time we made our round to Buenos Aires, things were considerably more expensive and prices seem to have caught up to the monetary degradation. I'm not sure this is a matter of research or just circumstance. We stilled paid less than what we would compared to the city we are from.

In the next six months or so I'm going to be moving somewhere abroad where my military disability (approx $4k /mo) will carry me. So far the short list includes Prague, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, and Santiago. BA has been calling me for a long time and is still at the top of the list. From what I understand 4k should cover me just fine in all these locations. I'm also thinking about hopping around South America like you guys. I've been to something like 39 countries but in South America so far only Brazil. I'm a cinematographer by trade with a background in journalism so it'd be cool to make videos like you guys. Nice to have a live-in partner to work with though! I'm curious, what kind of remote work do you guys do? Also, BA or Santiago? I feel like Santiago is more pragmatic but it doesn't call to me like Argentina. 🎶

Just normal corporate jobs. --- BA or Santiago? We'd choose Santiago again because we love hiking. You're not going to find any hiking near BA. --- We are self taught cinematographers, I think... I would just recommend wording things a little bit different to have better and more positive engagement. Like the negatives on the video maybe make different categories? The no-nature part is mostly because Buenos Aires City (CABA) is thought to be *just* a city, Buenos Aires Province is filled with nature and everyone is pretty used to driving 6 hours if you want to go to the beach, you have to take into consideration that comparing Santiago with Buenos Aires is not truly fair seeing how different in size the countries are.

Thank you for your view, comment, and recommendation. - No city alone is perfect. We do tend to throw a negative section on all our city reviews. We often get a mixed bag of opinions, many tend to like the brutal honesty, while others don't. --- The negatives are a comparison to whether we would choose to live there or not or other general things we found quite different or odd. --- Regarding proximity to nature, this is a big one for us. Compared to a place like Bogota or Santiago, the mountains are just too far away, which is something we personally crave. IF the city structure of Buenos Aires is what Bogota was like... Ah I see in the comments you've provoked the wrath of the gaslighting Argentinians by daring to suggest that their country isn't heaven on earth. "How dare you provide an un-biased honest review! You're wrong! I'm right! Shut up! Go home then!" etc. It's so sad to see such aggression, hostility and bad attitudes towards tourists; but welcome to Argentina! A very good summary I'd say. Buenos Aires was also one of my least favourite cities in South America, for many reasons but mostly because of the local people who I found to be unfriendly, rude, aggressive, closed-minded, and to be frank a bit brain-washed into thinking that Buenos Aires was not just a nice place to live, but the best. It was a real shock as South Americans are some of the friendliest, kindest, welcoming people on earth; whereas Buenos Aires was the complete opposite. But then again, Buenos Aires doesn't feel like South America in many ways (food, architecture, culture, etc) so perhaps that lack of South American friendliness should in fact be expected. Keep up the great videos.

Would we live here? --- Buenos Aires has more pros than cons that's for sure. We loved the city layout and the international influence... The only real big problem for us is it's not close to mountainous areas... For example, if Bogota was laid out like Buenos Aires in terms of it walkability throughout the city... It'd be a no-brainer for us to settle there.

Thank you for the view and comment. ---- "Argentina has the best meat/barbecue/asada in the world"... is an opinion. ---- "Argentina has one of the largest cattle industries in the world"... is a fact. ---- "People who like eating meat with sauces or seasoning are used to eating low quality meat"... is an assumption. --- Less of an opinion and more of a fact is Argentinians likes to eat their meat the way it is, with very little salt added. That is fine. But no matter how good the quality of meat, I still want something, like a sauce or seasoning. We bought a lot of meat for the home while in Buenos Aires, and we cooked it how we liked (3/4) and seasoned it (with mostly salt and cayenne pepper) the way we like. The meat is great, but Argentineans just don't seem to like or feel it is necessary to season meat. Therefore, I cannot have share the opinion that "Argentina has the best meat/barbecue/asada in the world".

Thank you for you view and comment! - Yes, and I will comment on that again. My biggest beef (no pun intended) around this topic is that many people claim that, "Argentina has the best barbecue/asada in the world..." I'm challenging this opinion/belief. Since barbecue/asada is done very differently across the world, there's no way this could ever be true because everyone has a different taste and preference. Including me and Argentinians. And hence, in all our dining experiences with meat, steak, etc. There was no innovation or creativity around adding any flavor to the meat. Barely any salt either. And I more than understand that is exactly how Argentinians like to eat their meat. Did I enjoy the meat? Yes! Would I have liked with with some type of spicing and or sauce, yes! But given my experience, I cannot join the camp that say "Argentina has the best barbecue/asada in the world". I did however love how much more affordable meat is in this country. Nearly a third or quarter of the cost you'd pay in the US for the same amounts and quality.

Thank you for your view and comment! - The quantity and quality of the meat in Buenos Aires was truly great. However, when it comes to the use of flavors like seasoning meat or providing a sauce, it was nearly non existent at all the restaurants we visited. Barely any salt either. Clearly, Argentinians like to their meat as is, with little salt or no salt at all. This was simply our experience. - Just yesterday I had amazing 300 gram steak here in Mexico, which was both seasoned and accompanied by a savory brown sauce. - I would prefer to order a Peruvian Lomo Saltado, or Taiwanese Mongolian Beef, or maybe some Texas Barbecue over an Argentinian Steak any day, just because all those dishes do something interesting with flavor. - What surprises me most about this comment is how fired up Argentinians are about my opinion based on a fact, even though the rest of the video is very positive regarding our experience of Buenos Aires. This just makes me think that maybe the stereotype that says “Argentinians are stuck up” or that “they think highly of themselves” is somewhat true… Although I did not get that sense when I was there. It’s clearly showing itself in the comments of this video. 🤷‍♂️
