Great video Chad and Jolene, I put one of those fuel sending units in before, I may be wrong but the float where you have it will read 1/2 tank, it needs to be adjusted 1/2 way in the tank, the float then will go all the way down reading empty.. I installed one years ago.. pull it back out see how for the float goes down, it goes down as for as it goes up from 1/2 way.. again I’m no pro but have installed them before, great video love watching your content

The float needs to be about half an inch above the bottom of the tank and the sender needs to be far enough over for the float arm to move to the highest point when the tank is full.

Chad. The level assembly should be adjusted to go into the tank just to the to the halfway level mark. The bottom part of the assembly has a full and empty level stop. with the tank empty the float should be adjusted to hang about a 1/4 inch from the bottom when it hits the stop. This should now also allow the float to almost reach the top when it hits the stop. You are one awesome dude. Willie Stegmann from Houston Texas.

For the radiator on the upper hose you could bend a stainless steel tube around the fan and use small couplings to attach to the block and radiator. To keep the steel part from rotating weld a small tab with a hole in it and install a rubber isolated clamp on it..like the ones that hold electrical wires on the frame

The correct way to fit the sender is to screw it to a piece of 1/8 plate then weld the plate to the tank. That way petrol does not leak up through the screws.

This is one of those times where 100 percent focus is needed for the best outcome but having a running conversation with the audience is enough distraction to cause a few mistakes...but as always, these are opportunities to learn and the metal is super easy to work with and make it anyway it needs to be. Rivet Nuts is what I would use here to hold the sender down...which should be adjusted to the midpoint of the tank I enjoy the show and impressed with how you roll on and get so much done in an hour.

What about a false bottom (removable) in the spare tire well, to be able to store stuff in the back where it would normally be wasted space? Spare tire out, false bottom plate out, stuff in plate back on & spare tire back in? Just a thought.

Pressuretest fueltank ! Use contraflange welded on fueltank to prevent leaking. Looks dangerous a fueltank in the cockpit. Bending the arm from the fuelsender can harm the variable resistor. Make the hole in the tank a little bigger so the sender will go in en out more smoothly.

Chad love watching you work. Have followed the placements and fitment ofmost items. But, the question I have is why not put the tank in thepocket between the spare and back seat ? It is the perfect place to have situated it so as not to have to modify your seat backs and put thefuel tank in your ear. This would have allowed morefuel and more aesthetic space.

Agree with Walking Talll, the sending unit is going to show 1/2 tank when the tank is empty, unless its possible to adjust the pivot point of the float to be halfway the depth of the tank. Chad is smart though, he'll figure it out.

'Like a gift from God'..Could have fallen from the sky! It's funny how things happen like that...A few months ago I bought a project to restore, a 1966 Mk1 Mini. On waiting several day for it to be delivered I decided when its finished I want a few period look fetures, 60's Lucas really lights on the front, number plate sticker on bonnet, small single clear light on back boot, leather straps on boot and period roofrack. I quickly rented a local single car garage ready for its arrival. Come the day it was due to arrive I also collected they key to the compound where there are a number of other garages to rent. I got there early and walked around the back of the garages to have a quick wee and guess what was just laying in the grass which I very nearly pissed on? An original 60's small roorack for a Mini. I could not believe it! What are the chances?

Lots of inlets and outlets to consider on the gas tank build so well done putting it all together. Some comments on the gas tank position and safety etc...and thats OK. But it needs to be balanced with the perspective of function and application given this is a period-type car. It's also not going to have airbags and side-impact beams and that's OK too. My period-type cars have gas tanks either within the dash (gravity fed) or under the driver seat which is normal and correct. Let's not bubble-wrap the car build guys.
