Very nice.. Seeing Jolene in it almost makes it as though she's ready for the road. Love those doors! Then again, everything about it looks stunning. It's going to look absolutely amazing when it's finished! Every day is one step closer but have to say it's a pleasure to watch. Once again, thank you for showing/ videoing every step of the way for those of us who follow. 🐾🐾

So nice to be along for this. Jolene looks very natural in the car. I know bikes pretty well and nothing about cars unless it is a Ford van or pickup. Of course, the algorithms keep showing up about Bugatti automobiles. Years ago in the mid 90s, I worked in a dealership that sold "A" Bugatti built around a Ducati 900 motor. The conservative nature of the area where I live makes it a tough place to sell exotics. Good on you and your friends helping with the motor and wood. It is entrancing to watch it come together.

Chad said "I am looking for strength, integrity....and a pair of plyers" Funniest thing of the night! I really enjoy these videos. More than the show for some reason. I feel like I am getting a one-on-one lesson in custom coach building. I get to hear the thought process of why something was engineered the way you do and no commercials!!!! LOL. Stay safe, warm and keep doing what you are doing.

Jeff from Jersey! At the back you measured down 4 inches. Then you 45ed the square tube. That dropped it down below the 4 inches. You put the mark on the sheet metal for the lowest point and then the tube was below that mark.

I would raise the lower dash board. She’s gonna lose her kneecaps in an accident. I would also consider a tilt steering wheel for her natural position of the wheel. Maybe a collapsible steering column as well?

My knees hurt when I saw how close Jolene's kneecaps were to the sharp edge of your beautiful wooden dashboard.
@briquetaverne3 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too and I wonder if that won't be a future medical issue in case of a front end accident or even something less radical like sharp braking to avoid something in the road like an animal for example. It just appears to be a little too close to that kneecap.

Car is looking epic. But I have to say, that tunnel is too big for the car. It’s going to dominate the interior. The car is dainty, Jolene is dainty, but the tunnel is huge. Keep it square and simple, just follow the lines of the transmission more. Luv it and the channel though, keep it up guys, it’s one of my favourite things to watch at the moment made even better by your daily updates 👍👍

***** Question Chad: Why would you run two 55 inch top rods all the way from the top of the Bell housing all the way to the back? Even if the Drive shaft rose to the top of the rear of the body's cut out, the bell housing and the Transmission won't move at all. If anything any movement would be from the transmission's drive shaft's universal and back. It would seem to me that running two shorter rods down to the height of the rear of the transmission's knuckle would allow for more room where you could put a shorter stemmed gear shifter as well as appearing to have more room in the front between both seats.:

The slope on the top part of the dash has perhaps made things a bit harder (unfortunately). It has meant the lower part of the dash is too low and in danger of hitting a drivers legs (although as you have shown.....it does work for Jolene). It’s a juggling act to get things right that’s for sure. When I did my boattail speedster I found I had to juggle steering wheel size, rake of steering column, space between steering wheel and dashboard, height of seat, thickness of seat, “V” shape of seat, back seat support and pedal location. I spent a week playing around with different positions, trying things out for myself and different drivers, before I finalized an approach. Took ages but was well worth it....particularly if you are driving the car for hours.....it needs to be as comfortable as possible. Maybe consider spending a bit more time to optimize this for her and other drivers. Anyway....love your enthusiasm....both of you. Enjoying the build very much.

Once a man with a talent and balls to say " Jolene wants a Bugatti and I will build her one " and now has evolved into a master craftsman finishing his most precious project to perfection, if the car was finished back then it wouldn't have been like this and never noticed and forgotten with time but now has a special place in automotive history, hope Jay Leno finds you an og Bugatti engin for this now that will be like a cherry on top to finish it. Love you both take care 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Just a thought Chad, I would think about making a relief cut on both sides of the steering column, in a contour sweep down and under on the left, then back up to almost present a separate dash on the right side, reason ?....it could, God forbid, be a real knee breaker if the riding got rough. It just looked like her knees were quite close to the dash, just a safety thought, BUT..the car is looking great :-)
@TheFastStang3 жыл бұрын
I would follow a bit more the lines of the gearbox with the tunnel all the way down till the driveshaft begins and from that a short bit straight towards the back, and after that up to the point were it is now on the rear axle section. The driveshaft never will hit the tunnel anyways. Even with my idea it can be flat on the top too, but not so high in the middle. It wouldnt look so boxy and square, cause the rest of the car has round lines, and you would have more room and still plenty for the shaft. But thats only my opinion. You have to do it your way if you want!

Awesome as usual. I see some comments on trimming the dash. Correct me if I am wrong this is only a mock up dash. Be patient and wait for the master to reveal his finished product. I far more enjoy the real camera crew 👍

Is it to late to think of putting a lowered seats( like a sunken living room) as it sure looks cramped and uncomfortable sitting so far back on that relaxed angle to get sight line out the windshield. Also no knee room,for clutching and braking.
@jamesmcritchie83103 жыл бұрын
The Lamborghini contact was a very slant back windshield and very low car maybe get some ideas from that one
@johnpaszko37623 жыл бұрын
Hi Chad! Just watching you weld up that ten inch square tubing above the transmission for your center console. It probably should be longer.......then, 45 your side tubing. Reason I say this is because it seems like your too close to the transmission's starter gear cover at the top. Might be a tight fit when removing or installing the trans without damaging the firewall, just saying. Enjoying you vids as always! The car isn't even done and it looks fantastic, you are an meticulous artist! I'm a gearhead myself and I'm still learning a lot from watching your vids! Keep up the good work and good luck on your project cars! By the way I'm young guy, I'll be 74 in three months! Have a wonderful day Chad and Joline! JP JR. Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, USA.
@JonDingle3 жыл бұрын
I hope that bellhousing doesn't knock against that box section as the engine rocks into life on start up. I would have thought at least half an inch of clearance would be needed. Most engines and gearboxes twitch on starting. Great video and good to see the progress being made.
@alethacriss15283 жыл бұрын
Chad tom and I really enjoyed your shopping show last night, Too much cool stuff! We are concerned about the dash though in your lady's car. Her knees look really close to the bottom edge of the dash. We looked at other dashes on other Bugatti's and they were all different but the knee clearance did not seem to be an issue.
@langdonfairchild1st8053 жыл бұрын
Nice one chad. Little bit more adjustment with the new seat and leg room is just fine. 👍
@robertfinck12753 жыл бұрын
The only benefit of having the center console so high would be to do a section about 2" high below thost top bars, and isolate it from the outside. Put a wood top insert front to back and put a few switches and a couple cup holders for comfort.

An aluminum cap on the top of the dash, shaped like a half oval, would give you a place to put the gauges more in line with the line of sight of the driver, perhaps. Was looking at the angle of that top dash piece and thinking that might look good as well. It’s going to be a beautiful car, look forward to seeing it in person some time.
