Rimac is a 100 people company, and the car is fully designed, developed and manufactured in Croatia, a country with 0 automotive industry. On the other hand the Veyron is from a well known multi bilion $ company, with just the R&D costs over $ 1.62 billion.... So for it being able to stand up to the Veyron, the Concept_One is a groundbreaking achievement. Also it sounds like a fuckin TIE fighter. :)

Well with quad turbos and 16 cylinders to spool up it's bound to be slow until a certain RPM from a regular standing start. As you saw it took off quite quickly after rolling in to boost/past the turbo lag.

After being in a few electric cars the one thing I notice is that as soon as you press the go-fast pedal it's like 0 lag. Press your right foot down on my own gas burner and the shit it does before actually moving the car forward fast is a whole load of stuff that takes time. Usually a transmission up-shift, squirting fuel and the engine itself revving up to the right rpm along with the turbos spooling and finally the synchros meshing and selecting the gear and THEN you get going. By then, what was the electric car doing? Beating you, that's what. Just imagine when that girls hands went down they both mashed the throttle in both cars at the same time. That's EXACTLY what you'd see. The electric would always launch straight away and the internal combustion car would always have that initial hesitation before taking off. It's just the way both technologies are. The only way around that with the internal combustion engine lag is to have something like a christmas tree where you could compensate for the lag. Only useful if you are at a drag strip. Useless anywhere else.

heres what happened. 1. No launch control used on the veyron. 2. This is the 997ps veyron which was heavier and less powerful. 3. After the veyron shifted from 1st to 2nd gear it started catching up . I appreciate what rimac has done, but its a shame they did not launch the veyron when they knew the concept one would have instant torque from get go and the bugatii would not.

The inverter's peak duty cycle will increase as battery voltage drops, so the power should be maintained similarly over the battery voltage, that is unless the software imposes a limitation in order to prevent damage/premature wear to the battery. The difference in acceleration as a function of the battery is negligible. The temperature of the battery is the major limitation.

Honestly i thought the Rimac would do better than that! I was kind of disappointed at the acceleration after 100mph against a car which is made to look like its going backwards against the new Koenigseggs. Was the Rimac at full power? or just the fact that two gears cannot keep it on its power band for long? Lord Pembroke is real class guy! In a few of these videos the Rimac guy came across as pretty arrogant and didnt give the Veyron much respect imo and the English guy took it all so well!

Up to date comment.The Rimac Nevera is the quickest car over a quarter mile by quite a distance.It did an time of 8.62 seconds when driven by Matt on Carwow which was a new unofficial world record.The future is electric guys so get used to it.
