Animals understand body language. Just like horses, elk are prey animals and they understand body language. When you stood your ground, that tells the elk you aren't afraid. The first one to walk off loses. Which was the elk in this situation. The best thing you can do is show him you're not a threat by acting like a lower bull. Meaning you move backwards when he walks towards you. You don't want to fight with these guys. The bull saw this as a challenge, he made a move and noticed you still stood your ground. So in his eyes he's like: Hmm, maybe he is stronger and l can't challenge him. So he walked away. If you would've put pressure on him such as by moving forwards, sometimes they'll move away but it's also possible they'll fight. You definitely do not want that. He is a beautiful bull!

Every man knows the feeling of testosterone. The elk has so much he was drooling for a mother F***** to try him. It's also why more people die from prey animals, then predators. That was a situation... Luck the elk wasn't a bully.

Depends on if the guy was armed. People are allowed to shoot animals in self defense and even a dinky 9mm would penetrate it's skull. Glad it didn't come to that though

My husband and I heard an elk bugling pretty much right next to us last Oct, up(over?) the 260 from Payson. It was nighttime and I really wanted to see him! This vid rocks (a bit nerve wracking, eek!), I'm able to see one doing his thing because of you, so thanks for sharing! :) God bless!
