I think you need to let those asparagus establish themselves for a year before you harvest.

Being raised on a small working farm myself ( pigs, cows, chickens, gardens, small fruit orchard etc. ). I can appreciate and respect all the hard work you and your family are putting into being self sufficient. Whew...I get tired just watching you! But in all honesty.. I miss those days of hard work, and the satisfaction you get from eating the fruits of your own labor:) I miss the taste of fresh milk, homemade butter, fresh bread and the taste of chemical free meat. Lord I could write a book on the difference in taste between store bought and homegrown. One question: Do you all make your own lard for cooking? Would love to see a video about the process of rendering the fat from your pigs and cows, into usable cooking lard if you do. It would be awesome to see the new methods verses the old school:)

I love seeing mama Rhodes or there in the garden. Even though we all love our kids, working in the garden is such a nice mental break/destresser. And then if the kids help... even better!😊💜🙏 great team work🎉🚜👩🌾👨🌾👦👦🧒👧

Onions, herbs, and celery are able to keep pests away while Rosemary is able to repel cabbage flies.

Rebecca you could use grass sod stakes. Their like little mettle stakes you can use to hold it in place and you dont have to use the sand bags.

I’ve heard in the first year planting strawberries when they flower you should take the flower off so it concentrates more energy in making roots what do you think?

Have you tried companion planting? Hyssop, peppermint, rosemary, sage, thyme and southernwood keep cabbage-eating bugs away. I think onions work aswell

Best way to make Donald not Peck you is to make yourself big! So go out big with waving your arms and smack his beak if he goes to bite you! I was terrified of Egor our sebastapol gander who would chase me around. Now he knows I'm the boss! You can also pick him up to show your dominance ❤️

You're not suposed to harvest the asparagus for 2-3 years after planting so you allow the crowns to strengthen and produce thicker shoots.

Sure did! I know it's not text book and we should let them scab over blah blah blah. But we've done it like this for years and it's fine. Sometimes you should forget the rules and just plant.
