I`ve been using this alternator from a 96 Chevy Impala for years on my GN....it bolt right up with no issues from autozone

@2muchBoost I found in my instance the steel bushing that is pressed into the aluminum alternator mount was causing it to bind a tiny bit by shaving off 1/16” or even less it makes for a smooth install and wont scratch or mar the alternator my old GN had a polished alternator so it’s just a personal preference type of thing for me but most times you can manage to get the alternator to fit

They also used them on the Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan, Pontiac Transport, generally any of those GM minivans of the era WITH rear air

I installed one of these 140 amp alternators on my GN a few years ago. It sure does help supplying more amps to power your fuel pump and all the other electronics on your Turbo Buick. Especially when your running a hot wire to your fuel pump, and running all the other 'goodies' like alky kits and larger injectors. One of the best and cheapest upgrades to a Turbo Buick! But as always, KEEP all your stock parts should you want to return it to 'all stock' for resale in the future........

I have an AC Delco 140 amp alternator for a 96 Impala. The alternator does not have the bolt hole on the back side for the bracket. The pulley is also about 3/16” smaller. Where did you get your alternator? I think the mounting would be ok, but the smaller pulley bothers me.

Did that alternator come with that upgraded fan blade, and in chrome finish? They’re usually just a dull face, I painted mine black

Yes the alternator arrived as it is in the video. So far it has been working great and made a noticeable difference at idle

If I have a volt booster can I use it with the 140 alt?

Yes the volt booster increases the volts not the amps so you can definitely use them together

What length serpentine belt? Is the tensioner pulley making contact with the A/C compressor bolt?

stock belt length zero contact looks closer then it actually is.

I want one of these for my 89 TTA. Is the pulley the same size, the old one looks a little bigger?

You may want to verify the amperage on your TTA it may already have an oversized alternator. If it doesn’t it will work the pulley size is what affects the rpm range and when the output comes in at a earlier rpm

@@EluderRacing it has the factory alternator on it and i think it's getting a little lazy. I can be cruising down the highway and after about 10 miles when it warms up starts pulling less volts. In the morning it's around 14 on the way home it's around 13.5 and with the a/c on it will dip in the mid 12's.
