Instruction for a Buick Lucerne
Switch Lucerne ignition ON.
Repeatedly press vehicle information button (it is usually located on the right or left from the steering column depending on year make and model) Fig. 2 [A] until PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY is displayed.
Press set/reset button Fig. 2 [B] until REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed.
Programming mode activated, proceed as follows:
Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK remote buttons on first remote transmitter simultaneously for 15 seconds.
Wait for acoustic signal (indicates correct programming).
Repeat above procedure to program remaining Lucerne remote transmitters.
Switch ignition OFF to exit programming mode.
Remote transmitters can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.
NOTE: A maximum of 8 Lucerne remote transmitters can be programmed.

Solved my problem. Got a replacement fob for my 2006 Buick Lucerne tried Manual...went to this video. However, I missed one step for a while. I would program one and the other one came in-programed. Watching again, after the 2nd key relearned I was hitting the arrow on my dash once the fob learned instead of turning the ignition off to get out of the "re-learn" mode. Came back and watched the 3rd time and both keys work. Probably most folks would have got it first time. Just slow learner I guess

If you ever need a new key, you can buy them on Amazon. Have a hardware store cut the key for you. Put your old, working key in the ignition and turn it to "on". Remove the key and immediately put the new key in and turn it to "on" again. Remove new key. It will now be programmed. I ordered a new fob and it came with the key so I decided to see if this would work. My local Ace hardware didn't even charge me for cutting the key. And to think they used to charge more than $100 for new keys!

Worked for my Buick Lacerne CXL with Driver Information Center... 1. Close all doors. 2. Press and hold the Unlock button on door lock switch on drivers door. Hold until instructed to release in step 6. 3. Insert key into the ignition cylinder but do not turn it. 4. Remove key from ignition and then insert key into ignition without turning ignition cylinder and remove key. 5. Insert key in ignition a third time and leave key in ignition. Do Not turn ignition. 6. Release door lock switch on drivers door panel. A Chime will sound 3 times indicating that you are in programming mode. 7. Press both the Lock and Unlock buttons on the remote up to 30 seconds. A chime will sound 2 times if remote has programmed successful. 8. Repeat step 7 if you are programming additional remotes. 9. Remove key from ignition to exit programming mode

Found my solution and I copy pasted: "I had the same problem. Both my remotes stopped working at the same time, so I was rather sure the problem was the receiver and not the remotes. On another forum a posting said that he found a loose wire in the trunk between the two speakers. I looked there and saw a device with a wire connection. It was not loose, but when I unplugged the wire and replugged it, my remotes immediately worked again."

Great vid ,,I was wanting to buy a 06 Lucerne but the owner just had a key to open the door ,, Did some Lucernes come with just a key or did all come with a key FOB ?

I got an extra key fob and I set up my new one per video instructions, but my 2nd backup key fob unprogrammed! I went back and reprogrammed it and the new one l just programmed also unprogrammed! How do you keep both key fobs programmed? Please advise if you are able!

You do not need a working remote. Only a working key that will start the car.

Are you changing the programming code to a new code when you do this, and that is why you "double click" the original also. So if I have two new remotes do I need to reprogram my original spare and the current one in the ignition ... all at the same time? Thanks!

You simply have to hold the buttons down on each other remote after the first one responds. This will retain programming on the existing remotes. You do not have to start over at the beginning each time.

The 2009 LaCrosse remote key fob has to be programmed by your GM dealership or a pro automotive locksmith. There are no DIY instructions that are compatible with that remote.

@@mcanally5940 It should work the same way. Press the i button on the dash until it say "reprogram remote" then follow the instructions in the video. I would think it would work the same on all GM cars.
