BUILD A BMW 435i or BUY A BMW M4... Which one is cheaper?

Had my 435i for the past 3 years and just picked up an M4 the other day. The 435 is all the car you could ever need, just got the M4 because it’s the 435, just improved in certain areas & obviously for the wider body

The DCT come on the new models Series 4?! I’m certainly looking for advice. I love the M4 and my buddy has one, it’s a CS but I don’t need all that. Looking to hear what your thoughts are on the M4 and the Series 4.

@@ivanhawkinsii9272 none of the new ones come with a DCT. The 4 & M4 both have ZF autos. If you can afford the M4, just get the M4.

@@nks99999 yes I hear ya. M4 is too expensive. I’m also looking at the M340i. Seeing a lot of good things about it. Not sure you have and thoughts to add, but I’m interested if you do.

@@ivanhawkinsii9272 haven’t had any personal experience with them but assuming your talking about the G series M340i’s, I’ve heard good things. Surely a F82 is now in a similar price range to the G series 340?

S55 dynos around 420rwhp stock. Basically the twin turbos help with that, and run ~475 on Stg 1 and ~520 on Stg 2 given proper mods. N55 and B58 are solid motors too, but basically just starting a tier or so lower, so it is what it is. Problem w/ owning cars like these is you want to mod them regardless, so better to have a higher up platform if you can afford to.

Yeah I agree with you. If you can and are willing to afford it, get an M car. It’s undeniably the better car. But a 435i or any car in that class, is great bang for the buck. A lot of people start with them then make their way to an M car (like me hopefully one day)

I love what you have done to your car it is beautiful! The 435 is the way to go! 2015 m4 was only rear wheel drive… the 2015 435 is all wheel drive! A great advantage. With all the mods the car is Awsome!!

I feel like if you’re gonna keep the car for the long run , building the 435 is better . But buying if you’re gonna switch up after 2-3 years then a m4

Here in Australia you're looking at a $20,000 price difference between a fully modded 435i and an M4. I think if you have the money go M4 otherwise if you're happy with what a 435i offers then you're really saving a lot of money.

I live in nyc and I see a m4 everywhere I go so I’m happy I got a 435i. Yet to see one that looks like mine and I rarely see another 435i. But I always see a m4 that looks like I seen it already.

TBH the 435 is amazing value compared to an M4, yes the M4 has a lot but also cost a lot specially if you live somewhere where taxes hike the price up bad (Puerto Rico for an example) and you get probably 80% of what the M4 does which is great and honestly most of the time we are not squeezing the last drop of performance on a car specially something like an M4

380whp? I have Stage 2 also and BM3 states it should be sitting around 400 at the crank. I know bmw under rates their engines and I also haven’t dyno’d my car but the car pulls hard.

Well it depends from experience the m4 is a WAY better car all around anyone who says other wise never own one or upgraded to one building the m4 is a bit more expensive the the 435 but the power difference is huge is upgrade to an m4 s55 all the way but if you on a budget keeo the 435

I came from a 1.5L 4 cylinder Scion XB with 115hp so the 435i already puts a smile on my face in every way. Having said that, I look forward to one day owning an M4.

I think generally speaking tuning a car and driving it aggressively will cause more wear and tear on the motor. But doesn’t mean it’s unreliable! My car has been tuned for awhile and I had no issues because of the tune

Ok but think - there’s so much more to official M cars than raw speed . sure u can upgrade an 435 to match the quickness of an m4, but think of everything else that u dojt have that the m cars specialize in - different suspension , steering ; feel, weight , better exhaust , wider tires , way better handling , tighter sportier corners etc - point is , the m4 is an entire different animal and while it makes sense to compare the two , if u want a car for the same speed of an m4, just get an m4 cuz u get all those extra wjth it . A 435i is gonna get u there quick but the m4 will put a smile on ur face over things the 435i won’t.

I know and that’s why I clarified by saying an M car will always have those inherent advantages :). But yeah I agree with you. But a 435i is definitely still a lot of fun and a great overall driving car. Especially if you do what I did and get some better wheels and suspension. And still, it’ll be significantly cheaper than an M car. It’s just a budget M car really, nothing wrong with that. But hey hopefully my next car will be an M4! Like I said, an M car will always be an M car

Overall the 435i is a great car. I would highly recommend it but just keep in mind, it has some common issues. Just take that into account and leave some money on the side to fix those issues (charge pipe, coolant hoses/screw/valve cover gasket etc). Nothing major and some stuff are super easy to fix yourself!

Both are great honesty. I think the 435i is better bang for the buck but if you have the budget for a 440i, get the 440i. Probably objectively the better car

Save the 10g’s and go with a 435i. I’ve had mine for a couple months and it pulls with just a flash tune and no mods. Planning on upgrading turbo dp etc soon and making it a 500+ monster

@@balenciimusic he's probably referring to the LCI Full LED package which comes with the the more modern looking u shaped Daytime Running Lights versus the classic angel eye halos, I really wish I got a LCI 440 tbh but I love my slightly modified 435i next will be a P car or Maserati BMW is a great platform but it got so popular and their are too many boy racers with them now plus the G-chasis 4 series is hideous

Personally, I’d be more concerned about the cost of owning an M car vs a 435. The higher purchase price is just the tip of the iceberg. On the other hand, buying and owning any of those cars, or any other enthusiast car , is a decision made with the heart rather than the mind. Great video as always! It would be interesting to know which car (M4 or 435) makes sense from a KZbin creator’s point of view.
