That was an enjoyable 20 min. Thanks for making. Hope to see it with seedlings !

Good day my friend, I am following you from Turkey and you have turned an old refrigerator into a germination cabinet, this job is excellent and wonderful, I made an old refrigerator germination cabinet by taking you as an example, but the question I want to ask you is the cabinet temperature when you leave the seeds of eggplant and peppers in the cabinet to germinate. And how many degrees should the humidity be so that there is a healthy germination, because eggplant and pepper seeds are difficult to germinate, and I have trouble with the germination of seeds, I would be grateful if you could help me how many degrees the cabin temperature and humidity should be in germinating eggplant and pepper. Thank you and I wish you well in your work.

Hello Bekir, thank you for your comment and for following along. We try to keep the chamber between 78⁰F and 80⁰F and 100% humidity (or close) for pretty much all crops. We water the trays heavy when we seed and then put them in the germination chamber and leave them. They sprout anywhere from 3 to 7 days, depending on the vegetable, just make sure not to let them get too leggy. Hope this helps and good luck!

Thank you very much for the valuable information you have provided. I wish you the best of luck and success in your future work, and I look forward to your videos with more explanatory information on the same subject. Thank you and I wish you good work.@@jayjoefarms3865

Thank you very much for the video. It was very informative and helpful. I followed your setup exactly the same way. I used a 2 door commerical cooler. It create a lot of humidity and there is a lot of water driping. Any suggestions on how to control that would be much appreciated.

Thank you... Was the experiment successful... This method of heating... What should we do if we need to cool down... We have high temperatures... Should I reverse the direction of the fan and dispense with the water boiler by putting water in an earthenware dish for cooling

Nice job! Please have a follow up video showing seeds that have germinated. I'd be interested to see what percentage grow in a tray..
@jayjoefarms38653 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! This next video will show some of the trays we germinated in it. We had over 90% germination on our Bigdena Tomatoes and it kept a steady 80 degrees in the germ chamber during below freezing nights and 100 degrees days (in the greenhouse).

Just want to check in and see how this wound up working for you? Would you have made any changes?
@jayjoefarms3865 Жыл бұрын
It is still working great for us. No changes have had to be made as of yet.

Nice, have you had a chance to see if the fan will keep it cool in higher summer temperatures? Greenhouse temperatures. Good job, simple!

Good thing watching your video! Do you think a 1 or 2 fluorescent light fixture add to the door with some kind of on/off control is a good idea ? thx
@shaunszabo84933 жыл бұрын
I suppose you could however the initial germination works better in the dark moist and humid environment. Once they germinate we take them out of the chamber and put them on the greenhouse tables where they get full light at that point.

So who did you have to call to get the freon removed?

Where did you get the shelves from?
@jayjoefarms3865 Жыл бұрын
We had a wire shelf from a closet (available at any hardware store), left over from a renovation. We just cut to width and mounted them in.

@jayjoefarms3865 ok great. I went to a local appliance shop and they gave me an old fridge for free. Just gutted it and ordered the fan and controller. Ready to get this going!!!

Do you have a video of them on how well they germinated? Is it faster than heat mats?
@jayjoefarms3865 Жыл бұрын
I don't have a video of that. Find it much faster than heat mats. Anywhere from 3-7 days for most crops. Last year was 3 days in the chamber and 7-9days on the heat mat.

Did you drill any inflow air holes so when the exhaust fan kicks on air can come in from the outside?
@jayjoefarms38653 жыл бұрын
I didn't. It was a concern and something I was watching. However it did not seem to be a problem, I'm assuming with it being such a low power vent it didn't create enough negative pressure to be a problem.
@mrcoxa3 жыл бұрын
Would love to see it in action!
@dennypinar94823 жыл бұрын
Do you feel that you need an air inlet hole? Being sealed up so well how can the exhaust fan cool it? It would make a vacuum in no time. Great setup.
@shaunszabo84933 жыл бұрын
It was a concern of mine and something that I was watching closely. So far it has been working great and it hasn't seemed to be a problem at all as of yet. I'm assuming with it being such a small low power exhaust fan that it can't create enough of a negative pressure for it to be a problem. Should it become a concern I will just drill a small hole in the other side to vent.

What did you use to make extra shelves?
@shaunszabo84932 жыл бұрын
We just used wire shelving you would use in a closet and cut them down to fit.
