Lincoln is back again with another SUV, this time we're looking at the RWD-based 2020 Lincoln Aviator Reserve AWD.
PRN T-Shirts now available! Check out our original designs here: teespring.com/stores/prn
Lincoln has resurrected the Aviator nameplate now that the successors to the 2003-2005 model have both moved on. The two-row crossover which became the MKX has now seen a mid-cycle update as the Nautilus, and the 3-row 'Town Car' crossover which was known as the MKT has finally died. In the ashes of those two vehicles comes something bigger, better, and stronger than before. Our spotlight is on this 2020 Lincoln Aviator Reserve AWD.
Based on Ford's new RWD mid-size SUV platform, the Aviator isn't just a badge engineered Ford Explorer Limited with ST performance. The Aviator takes on a completely new persona from it's cousin with a sleek exterior design fitting in with the luxury brand's current design language, with an interior suited for am $85,000 SUV. The one thing we noticed about this Aviator was it's truly a Continental SUV, giving drivers and passengers the same comfort and technology features we saw last year on the 2019 Lincoln Continental, but improving on them in certain areas.
Our test vehicle is finished in Burgundy Velvet paint and comes about as fully loaded as possible, with the 202A package, dynamic handling package, illumination package, convenience package, and second row centre console. The Aviator also comes with Ford's 3.0L EcoBoost V6 with twin-turbochargers for a total of 400 horsepower, and 415 lb-ft of torque, paired with their 10-speed automatic transmission.
Our full tour and review of the Lincoln Aviator goes over all the tech features introduced by Lincoln on this vehicle, as well as the interior and exterior design elements unique to the brand and to this vehicle. We then take the Aviator on a road test to talk about how this vehicle performs as a daily driver on typical North American roads, and what buyers can expect from the ride and comfort.
We wrap up our episode with our independent fuel economy testing along with the features we like and dislike, and what buyers should consider if they're in the market for a three-row luxury SUV like this.

What a great looking vehicle. I love that Lincoln took a different path than Caddy and Germans. This is soft American. Honestly no competitor out there for it. Lexus has nothing this big and luxurious. Beautiful American interior. Caddy should go to Lincoln interior decor class. Bravo.

Build quality problems are not resolved as evidenced with my August 2020 purchase of Aviator Black Label Aviator GT hybrid. Day 2 after purchase: Check engine light on due to plug in charging failure, Day 8 after dealer returned vehicle: four paint blemishes, broken fender felt, broken rock guard. 2 Weeks: Lincoln phone app gives incorrect information and will not synchronize with phone (factory concierge gives no indication when problem will be fixed); 3 weeks and continuing: speedometer and HUD display will not appear as shown in Lincoln factory pictures. I have never purchased a vehicle with so many issues. I have never bought a vehicle that costs half as much as this one. This vehicle came close to being world class competition, but my experience misses the target. Hopefully there will be no further issues.

just took delivery of a 2020 aviator 202A and convenience package. absolutely wonderful. agree with the seat position being a tad high for the HUD display but it's not a big deal. i've looked at the Q7 and land rover velar and sport but for the price this is IT! quite frankly, at my age i'm looking for living room comfort in at least this one of my vehicles. (i still have my benz' and a porsche) and, the horses and torque are more than adequate for anything that i want this suv to do. great job, lincoln!

I was going to purchase this vehicle but it has too many issues coming up from different people. I will just keep my 2013 Traverse LTZ that pretty much has everything this Aviator has with Navigation, 3 rows, bucket seats for 2 rows, sun & panoramic roof, and I also have DVD players in my headrest. Yeah I will just keep my truck that has been good to me for a very long time. Thanks for everyone comments, and hopefully your vehicles have been repaired by now especially for the price of this vehicle.

Was reading consumer reports and discovered Lincoln as a brand scored the lowest in reliability ratings... makes me sad because I really like the Aviator 😓

What you may be feeling in the steering is the evasive feature that speeds the steering up if it senses that you may be trying to avoid hitting something.

My 2021 is in the shop now for a loose door trim, loose headrest, factory paint blemish, faulty fuel gauge. It's been there for 8 days. Issues not resolved in 2021

I wish Lincoln would put a sedan on the RWD platform. Mercedes, BMW, and Audi all sell a lot of cars still because they build nice cars.
