I recently won my first honor mode run. And my party leader was a lore bardadin using spirit guardians. With radiating orbs and reverberation and the adamantine shield. I got a shield spell from a feat. It was a full party run, but I did do House of Grief solo. And I actually won. It was glorious.

Just a heads-up: If you use this build on Halsin, you will get misty step for free and always prepared (also some thunder/lightning spells you probably don't care about). Halsin would be a perfect cleric if he could just be tadpoled. Mintara gets her move speed improvement bonus action, which is pretty useful because clerics don't have much to do with their bonus actions.

Great vid as always Spud, but I came up with a build I'd like your take on - A hybrid Darkness Crit Blaster warlock. 4 Fighter (Champion), 6 Warlock (Old One), 2 Rogue. Essentially it's a mix of stacking crit and darkness + devils sight. Start off as 1 fighter, then 4 warlock, take Spell Sniper, then 2 rogue levels, then 3 fighter with dual wield, and finish off with 2 more warlock. Fighter - armor and weapon proficiency, con saves, action surge, and improved critical. Warlock - invocations, hunger of hadar, darkness, pact boon, blasts Rogue - cunning action Hide Crit range - Improved Crit, Spell Sniper, Mountain King Short sword, Covert Cowl, Shade Slayer Cloak, Bloodthirst, which is a 14-20 crit range with blasts. Plus risky ring for two chances to crit. Then ring of mental inhibition, since you are an old one warlock all your crits fear, and this isn't taking stuff like spineshudder amulet for reverb stacks into account. May swap out dual wield for Alert, mostly dual wield is there to wield staff and sword early on, but both would be good. You wouldn't need dual wield later on with short swords. You would blast things, while using bonus action to hide in your darkness. Since you are completely obscured, enemies wouldn't even get a chance to find you. So it would also be a very safe build. And as a bonus, you could use the Cambion rapier since its immune to darkness too, adding more scorching ray blasts from darkness, even the pact imp is immune to darkness too. Personally, I like to use imp to force surprise attacks. Thoughts?
@RustySpoon3 ай бұрын
How about levelling rogue to level 3 to get assassin? Could drop a level in warlock? Every attack is a crit if you surprise enemies, and if youre abusing darkness you could hide and restart combats to get another round of crits
@neiska253 ай бұрын
@@RustySpoon - oo good idea, i never played rogue much but that sounds yummy and fits the theme. Mostly just trying to boost blast damage without going sorc and such. Just hit level 3 on an honor mode run, so far so good.
@magister3433 ай бұрын
Why would you want 4 fighter and 6 warlock instead of 5 and 5? Fighter 5 gives an extra attack and the pact of the blade warlock extra attack stacks on top of that unless in honor mode. It also seems strange to only get 2 levels of Rogue instead of 3, particularly if you are using offhand weapons with a two handed fighting style as the Thief subclass gives you an extra bonus action which you could use for an extra attack, dash, or hide every single turn. I guess you can't do both with the level cap of 12, but I always play with a mod raising the cap to 20. Alert is great for low Dexterity builds, but since if I'm taking levels in Rogue I tend to want to max out dexterity to the point that it doesn't provide much additional benefit. My favorite crit fishing build was an Astarion Thief Rogue/Champion Fighter/Great Old One Warlock/Gloomstalker Ranger, with an offhand crossbow (Tinkertop Bolt Blaster 1000, from the Gabbetts Hand Crossbows mod) that gave an extra action when it crits and the Briskwind Boots (which was cut from the game but is accessible with the restored content mod, or from the script extender console) to restore all movement points on every crit, in addition to causing fear with every crit. I was using a mod that adds more feats, so my top choice for feats was Deadly Alacrity (which makes you crit on a lower roll and gives extra movement when you crit)
@neiska253 ай бұрын
@@magister343 - Mostly 4/2/6 fighter/rogue/warlock because this isn't meant to melee, but to be a crit blaster. And the dual wielding is really only meant to hold 2 weapons that increase crit range, not to melee with.
@magister3433 ай бұрын
@@neiska25 You don't need the dual wielder feat to hold those weapons, as they have the light property. You should take the Two Weapon fighting style so you can add your ability modifier to offhand weapon attacks, as it applies not only to melee but also hand crossbows. In that Astarion build I'd planned to rely on spells and eldritch blasts but soon found that my hand crossbows were better, especially with the Thief ability giving me two bonus action attacks every turn. There were times when I crit on 7 attacks in a single turn. Warlock ended up just providing devil's sight, darkness, and feat on every crit.

At the beginning, you are overexaggerating (like: turn undead, it's a waste of action) by a lot, but later it all falls down nicely - this is really a good build, although a bit off, when it comes to role-playing the Shadowheart. I prefer to change her into Cleric of War and the change it to Cleric of Light, after the known change in the game (if it happens). In overall, very methodical and very nicely laid down video, probably one of your best when it comes to builds

Fighter gives heavy armour and +1AC, when it comes to defence, heavy armour gives better passives than medium armour. Fly becomes obsolete on act III when you get partial illithid. Also you can say that we don't need heavy armour proficiency with Helldusk Armour, but there's a bug that make fighter give +2AC instead of one when you use Helldusk Armour + any other armour.

This is a pretty good standard Light Cleric build but imo a full level 12 Life Cleric that just takes Resilient for con saves is still just a stronger version of it in the end for abusing radiant orbs. I'd still take War Caster first bc advantage is stronger than proficiency early game until your numbers get up a bit. Radiance of the Dawn + Warding Flare are maybe the stronger option in act 1 & 2, but imo they always feel less relevant once you hit act 3 and, as soon as you hit Cleric level 8 the Life Cleric's Radiant Strike just directly outclasses it for me for this playstyle. Imo, a level 12 Life Cleric wielding The Handmaiden's Mace with strength set to 18, concentrating on Spirit Guardians and bonking with their radiant strike is easily my preferred Spirit Guardian's Lawnmower. I like to utilise Light Cleric's as full blaster-caster's.

Shadowheart is a decent healer, but the best healer is a Berserker Barbarian/Thief Rogue with all the healer equipment plus a lot of healing potions. They can throw potions with both their action and bonus actions. All benefits like Bladeward from Hellrider's Pride or the Reviving Hands work just as well with thrown healing potions as with healing spells, and the potions can apply them to multiple targets standing close together. Just make sure your barbarian/rogue healer does not take the Tavern Brawler feat, as you might throw a potion bottle too hard and kill the target with bludgeoning damage before the bottle breaks and the potion itself can heal them.

Yeah, as said above its kinda spoilers, but also different bosses got different approaches, so technicaly it won't show alot of stuff. Bosses HP range from 150 to 450 on AVG , so any build that is capable to inflict this amounts or heavily debuf wil be good
@jotun53833 ай бұрын
You either run or misty step to the boss after you have your spirits on. There are basically no bosses with resistance to radiant damage. If you want to be extra cautious you can use a mirror image spell up front. Some enemies have three attacks so you giving at least eight orbs is a good strategy. If you play with a party you can give the coruscation ring to your wizard and let him have a nice barrage of magic missiles to inflict ten orbs on the enemy. Even if that enemy attacks three times he's left with four orbs that can be re-upped easily. One could also use boots of stormy clamour to additionally give enemies reverberation when giving them orbs for some additional damage and maybe even making them prone.
@magister3433 ай бұрын
@@TheSpudKing With the mod I use to make the game more difficult (to balance other mods that give cool equipment and increase party size), 150 to 450 hp is more like what I expect from basic goblins. Bosses tend to be well over 2000 hp.
