I made a space shuttle with tank and boosters from scratch in 1:55 scale. It looks good but it’s not perfect. I’d love to build the Revell model. Maybe after watching your complete build.

Great job with your videos! Always interesting subject matter. The vents as you mention had to be drilled into the nose I believe have something to do with navigation, star tracking optics.

The results you are achieving using the tape and paint for the thermal blankets is amazingly realistic. Thanks Phil for sharing these fabulous tips,taking the final results beyond the next level of detail. 👧

I need to get a 1/72 scale me. I think they may have a full body scanner at the Insomnia Gaming festival here. I will look into it lol :D Looking so good

The tape idea is brilliant. It looks very realistic. Great find. You've got me excited to see this when it's finished and the detail you do on it. Nice Phil, looking great.

So, I'm returning to modeling in my middle ages and looking to go back and build models I built as a kid BUT I quite vividly remember the underside of the shuttle having raised heat tile details in the original installment of this model. I'm unhappy with the underside being a large decal. I was thinking if I found an older kit you could add detail by drybrushing the tiles

Ok so I have some crazy space numbers... the shuttle flew 130 missions over 30 years of use with 2 failures... now for the crazy part... SpaceX falcon nine ( as of the time I am writing this) has 174 flights of Falcon 9 with 172 successes ... and they have 60 launches planned for the year of which 33 are complete...

what a great job! I want to buy one orbiter and I dont know which one is better or more accurate, revell 1/72 is available here in Chile, monogram is not (it could be found on ebay though) but my first option would be Revell because is easier for me to aquire and i think it is better overall (although it seams that most of the people prefer the monogram model at least as I could read so far in forums). I think the worst problem would be the payload bay being "too short" (that is what i learned in those forums among other things), but I want to know if you really can notice that, I mean, I downloaded images from the kit (almost an ortophoto) and I compared it with the orbiter blueprint and in fact it seems to be a little bit shorter but nothing serious. What do you think? greetings from Chile

Hi, I think both kits have their flaws - you can definitely acurize the Revell kit. Monogram definitely for a lot more right detail wise. Both kits have cockpit issues. All the best! Cheers! Phil

@@sprueVerse I dont know if I understand (i can be lost in translation sometimes) you are saying that monogram needs more work to get the correct shape right or the other way around? btw thanks for your quick response
@VitoPastore Жыл бұрын
me again, I really want to consider your answer in my purchase, I could make the extra effort to buy the monogram if you consider is better and easier of fix it, but i think I hear you say that you just know about it but you dont have it nor see it in person, at least at the time you make this video

Phil, Where did you get the tile decals for this kit ?
@sprueVerse2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the decals are available on eBay from lake county space port - search 1/72 Revell space shuttle decals. Warbird decals also make some. Cheers!
