@@kevinpayne5584 Pretty cold and gray up here so a lot of time to work on the models I’m doing a lot of the eagle Moss collection the delorean, James Bond echo-1 and the willys jeep and now the 68 mustang. I’m trying to get to understand how yet to follow your pod casts in order once I figure that out it will be easier for me. Well I hope to be a active subscriber to engage with all your antics.I’m to issue 94 on ecto-1 and should be to your latest soon. Scotty

Still love watching these builds. All of the tiny details they manage to put into these kinds of sets is amazing. Also, the date that this video was put out, we got the news that Ivan Reitman had passed away. RIP Ivan Reitman 1946-2022.

Hi Wayne, just a little sub comment, though I did enjoy watching you build the gurney, and what nice quality too. Without mentioning any names, I used to work as undertaker/gravedigger, and I can tell you we called it the stretcher, to which we used to pick the bodies up on, I know 'Gurney' is the official term, but our one was exactly the same as the one you built, we could also fold it in half for tight areas of where cadavers were lying. Sorry to be gruesome everyone, but it bought my memory flooding back. Lol.

One of the things I find funny about these builds, is the fact that we build these models using small screws, but if we were the same scale as the models, the screws would be fricken' huge as would the screwdrivers needed to screw them into place!! When you look at the screws/bolts used to hold car doors on (life sized ones, that is), they're not that big, but the ones needed for these part builds are massive in comparison. Isn't that weird?! 😂
@robertstout47642 жыл бұрын
For the doors.. They are not as far off as you might think... Most of these screws used in models are 1mm -1.5 mm.. At 1/8 scale that makes the full size version of the same screw 8 times bigger or 8mm-12mm. Normally the bolts holding a car door on would be 10-12mm (similar to the 3/8"-1/2" used on many older American cars). The main difference would be they are usually bolts, not screws.. A lot of the other small parts would be held together with 6mm bolts (or the close equivalent in inch size ~1/4") so they aren't as far off an you might think..

Wow. The gurney looks amazing. Such attention to detail. Really looking forward to getting to this stage, as only on stage 18, awaiting delivery of 19, though is late. This build is quite something else. The best I have ever done, (even better than my Routemaster).

It feels like a suitable time to get an Ecto 1 update, given the recent sad news about Ivan Reitman. The gurney looks amazing, though I'm wondering, if the legs fold like that on the full size one, would that not put them at risk from unexpectedly folding up under the gurney while a patient was on it? I can't see anything to lock them in the out position. I've nearly completed my playmobil Ecto 1 since the last of these videos, Playmobil were kind enough to send me all the pieces I was missing for free, and they turned up in the post about a month ago. Unfortunately one piece from that list got missed out, I think on the actual car it's meant to be the siren, so I still don't have that, it's the only bit that's missing now. They did offer to send one over, though it's not shown up yet, I feel like I'm in with a fair shot of having it and completing my car by the next Ecto-1 update. We shall see.
@MGower44652 жыл бұрын
Real gurneys of that vintage would have a latch that hollds the legs extended, which is released via cables so the legs collapse as they are pushed against the edge of the ambulance floor
@ohmydinosare2 жыл бұрын
@@MGower4465 Aah, that makes a lot of sense, because they would definitely want to fold up easily when required, without fiddling about causing delays, but then not fold up at the wrong time, so that sounds like a sensible setup

As far as partworks go, I don't think this is too badly priced at all. When you consider what the nearest equivalent of this model costs plus add on all the hours spent building it (I nearly said hours of enjoyment but not always haha), I think the price is ok. Liked building this gurney even if I did slice my finger when the screwdriver slipped screwing one of the wheels.

Wayne, can you check a thing now that the gurney is almost over? I remember some doubts about the rails for that gurney on the car floor, can you check if the space between them is right for the wheels of the gurney to move freely or if it's necessary to reverse them?
