Very functional, clean, and simple table attachment! I recently bought a 1951 Craftsman King Seeley 100 series drill press that is in very good shape. I was planning to build a table for it with all the bells and whistles. Now you have me thinking of keeping it simple. 🤔

I bought a WEN variable speed drill press and used your table ideas as a starting point. I recycled my old Ridgid table saw as a moveable base since Ridgid gave me a new saw. I used old table wings as a mounting place for the drill dress, put some shelves inside the base, mounted magnetic bars to hold drill bits on one face. I used recycled kitchen sink cutouts for laminate surfaces. I did your magnets on the table to hold it to small table, plus a couple of knobs into threaded inserts for more stability. I was going to send photos but see a way to attach files.

I asked my wife about your comment ask I've been just fine, and she said its because of the new lights I got they are SUPER bright and they wash everything out and make me look pale! I need to add more overhead lighting so that I can rely less on the movable lights, I hate them, they are so hard to move around for every shot!

amazing build. I planned on building one, but when I bought the wen drill press I noticed they had a table as well. It was too good to pass up. It was just under 12x24, has an adjustable fence, stop block, t track, replaceable 0 clearance insert, and a couple clamps all for under 50 bucks. I honestly don't think I could have built one that nice for that price.

@Flynndogg Woodwork so far, I'm very impressed with every wen product I've tried. I have the drill press w/ table, the oscillating belt/spindle sander, and the bandsaw. I'm about to buy their track saw to try out. It's way cheaper than the dewalt one, which is what most of my tools are.

Oh cool! A tall fence is better than a short one! I had about a 3 inch fence on my last one, and realized that every time I wanted to lower the table the crank would hit the fence and the table, so I had to remove the entire table to raise or lower the bed... what a pain! Thanks for watching!

You know, they are convenient, that is for sure, are they better. I wouldn't say that. kind of a luxury item. Plus I find I don't have enough of them if I'm going to solely rely on them, and I don't necessarily want to have 30 of them! Thanks for watching Paul!

"Bandy" style clamps are handy for adding edge banding. But, before you buy them, look at videos about making your own with cheap clamps and bicycle inner tubes. I made 12 of them in an afternoon and around $15. I'm still using them after a few years and several hundred feet of edge banding. I didn't use glue, clamps, zip-ties, etc., just friction fit the tube onto the Harbor Freight spring clamps. Good luck.

1) roughen one side of the magnet so the CA sticks (probably better with epoxy) 2) Be sure the placement of the magnet isn't where the slide holes are on the table. 3) if you're going to take the time to center the waste board, probably a good idea to make tracing of the cast iron table square to the table extension. 4) I would put the retaining pieces on all 4 sides, then you don't even need the magnets. 5). probably better off with a cam level than this thing just sitting on the table, with or without magnets.

Looking at the shape of things from 6:13 onwards, you could have just added some pieces to the “lip” to create a pocket that lets you slide the table on and off like a drawer - even more secure than magnets.
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork 9 ай бұрын
That is an excellent idea mm9773! That probably would have been an even better solution. I think I had it in my head I wanted to use magnets for this project for some reason, But your idea is great, thanks for sharing!

@mm9773 9 ай бұрын
@@FlynndoggWoodwork The slots in your cast iron table would also allow you to create some kind of latch underneath, so you could lock it in, but still remove it easily. We might end up swapping ideas, because instead of a drill press, I use a solid drill stand - the cast iron table is also the base, so I can’t slide anything underneath: magnets might be the best solution.
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork 9 ай бұрын
@@mm9773 Oh nice! You know that is a great idea for a solid drill stand. I've got one of those too. This would be an excellent way to stablilize it and give the stand a wider base for stability! Great idea!
