I really love these lines and this way of ride.... no flips, no 360’s, just insane flights over the cliffs, insane step downs, maybe one casual whip, one touch of style but no too much. A legend.

Seems wild to me that he's riding such big lines with no pads other than a helmet. Immense confidence I assume. Here I am regretting that I didn't wear my knee pads on my last ride and now I'm dealing with another case of road-rash and trying to grow some new skin.
@tommycooperfish
@tommycooperfish 2 жыл бұрын
Knee/elbow pads are not going to help much on that (and can limit movement greatly also), that's multiple bones in a limb breakages (if you are lucky) territory if you mess that up. Same reason the lads riding rampage just wear jeans/tee and FF lid, it's not to look cool, it just has major diminishing returns once force gets high enough. Sucks as it can takes ages to get back to good strength again after not being able to move it at all for 2-4 months you know.
@Blowfeld20k
@Blowfeld20k 2 жыл бұрын
@@tommycooperfish Hmmmmm i'd love to see some published research on the suggestion that pads become irrelevant since many downhill races dealing with similar speeds and terrain still wear pads, also am an OLD MAN, been into my riding since the 80's and almost everyone at Redbull used to wear pads until the dirt jumping influence got a lot stronger maybe 8 10 years ago. IMHO its a fashion, and peer group esteem thing. As long as it works for them am fine with it. Your comment kind of misunderstands the purpose of safety gear in general the seat belts, are not intended to save you from 70mph head on impacts .... nothing is, motocross helmets, are not intended to save your skull from falling off a cliff, skate pads, are not gonna help if the city bus runs over your arm. ....... am sure you get the idea. Protection is intended to mitigate damage its doesn't magically become useless due to inability to filter out all harm.
@tommycooperfish
@tommycooperfish 2 жыл бұрын
@@ROSE-by5su But a lot don't...backflipping 80ft over gorges...pads are not going to save you one bit. falling and rolling well is way, way more important at that level. I do agree use of pads for smaller stuff but lets not lie to ourselves here you can't remove risk from that.

Never compare the sports magic of a bicycle with the mechanical crutch of a motorcycle. On the bike, the muscle naturally joins a machine that responds to you empathetically. On the motorcycle, all the power comes from the engine, a small detail.

I'm sorry on this kind of terrain, not wearing protection is asking for some serious injuries. Every Rampage rider wears gear to survive any crashes that could happen. Please remember kids watch these videos, and they need to learn proper safety so they can be the next generation.

This is my home turf, been riding it since 2004. "This kind of terrain" is dirt that's steep and loose. Before the days of Leatts, it was a fullface, some gloves and maybe your knees and a long sleeve jersey if you if you remembered them. You rocked Etnies or Vans on flats. He's geared fine, Mom. (Of course, if by protection you actually mean condom, then absolutely. Kids, never forget your rubbers - Utah girls are cute!)
