Thank you for taking the time and effort to show us less creative a more cost effective and easy way to enjoy the recreation activity known as gold prospecting without having to victimized by commercial retail pirates.

Lol. I just got a hold of a Garrett panning set the other day. Now it seems to me I gotta go build me a sluice box. Hope you don't mind me rippin from your idea. That is a fine box you made I actually wouldn't have thought of making one like that. Way to go.

Hey thanks so much for the information , your video and your explaination of the building process was well done. I'll be buildiing one or two of these and trying them out here in southern Ontarios rivers and streams. Thanks again, LLoyd.

Something that I learned as a novice at the GPAA Gold Show about the amount of drop when using a Sluice Box. For every foot of length for the sluice box you should have one inch of drop for proper water speed. So for 3 ft. you need 3 inches of drop when placing the box in the water. Just a though I wanted to share. Thanks.

BTW, the expanded metal is called 'metal lath' it's used to do plaster work that is very strong. A large sheet is CHEAP.

@arizonachristian how did you make your blue bowl? was it easy?
@utuberine12 жыл бұрын
Its actually similar to lath but not. The plaster work stuff is lighter and more dense in strands. Expanded is a little bigger grid, more uniform and solid. I reckon the lathe would quickly become trashed.

what angel is your rippels at plz tell me i whant to build one like yours love the video
@Lumpyone12 жыл бұрын
Pay attention, the riffles face down hill. The rubber ribbed material (you get it at hardware stores, it's floor mat by the foot) is at the head end. The legs of the ells face down stream.

I have more fun designing and building my own equipment for prospecting than actual prospecting itself; you could buy the equipment and bags of paydirt..whats the point of that? Loved the video; gave me some-more ideas!

duct work is galvanized steel. The zinc coating will wear off, so if u see silver Shiney stuff.. .that's just zinc. I was actually gonna use that myself, I used to put together ductwork boxes for a subcontractor. The chicken cage stuff, I don't know if that's any good unless you raise it up to classify. I know Keen uses it, but I read if it's not made and set just right it will cause your fines to wash out. Good box. I would pull that chicken wire out though.

mate it dont matter what kind of criticism your getting what matters is the basic fundamentals of the sluice box design and yes it is galvanised matal but as long as your using it in freshwater and not salt and ensure that when oxidisation occurs you lightly sand or wire brush the zinc that forms on it will last years as gal has a life expectancy of no more then 10 years I am sure once you hit the motherlode you can make a bigger stronger box with a more durable material i suggest stainless as it is more durable then aluminium although it will be heavier in comparison.. the ripple rack looks fine but as far as a rack goes as long as you have angled the ripples to allow it to cavitate the water as it passes over and push the gold back into the overhang is all that is required... I am about to make a ripple rack that will also have spray bars to help seperate the gold from the dirt and also help catch more gold as I seen on gold rush series looks like a good investment to me happy hunting

+DRIVER50L AND... if your box traps some gold on its first run, well then in theory, it has just paid for the complete construction costs as well!
@DRIVER50L9 жыл бұрын
Michael David Hiltner yes thats the main thing mate .. mine i made not long ago is made from scrap metal and quite literally is a piece of scrap my mate got for me off the local clean ups along with some stainless perforated stainless and a few different mesh sizes of stainless which i have used to make classifiers from old buckets a donated gold pan and now i am set almost we havent found a petrol powered pump yet but my sluice is mad as a river sluice with a flared funnel attachment i can add or remove anytime mats are made from door mat and rather then the ribbed matting hardware stores use i manahed to find in my 4x4 i recently purchased a piece of ribbed matting whish is deeper then that sold in hardware stores and have implemented it caught a few micro specs in it on a trial run I dont run riffles as we only get flower gold here cheers and great sluice mate

The duct work is not aluminum, it's galvanized steel. Either you intentionally hid the construction details, or you hadn't the presence of mind to show anything other than the far end of it. Showing it in action would've helped immensely. I found this video to be unhelpful. Just my opinion and no offense to you.
