For the person asking about the trellis net fibers... i 100% know exactly what youre talking about. Not sure what brand it was but there is netting made out of a certain material that just explodes with fibers when cut. It acts like a soft version of fiberglass. And yes, it was a mighty pain in the ass. Whatever brand it was that gave you trouble, dont ever buy it again. Get a different material and when you get it, cut one strand over something black and youll easily see if it rains fibers

Lol I was just thinking to myself, man when they're outdoors, they're prone to tonnes of crap. Bugs, bug shit, bug babies, bug nests, dirt, dust, fluff, pathogens etc... and yet, even after occasionally washing them, we still see shit stuck to the crystals. I can understand those fibres would be a royal pain in the ass to get off.

For outdoors fabric pots buried a few inches deep is a game changer. You can bottom water, and you get more flexibility on watering when the summer heat is crazy. Living soil connected back with the earth is basically supercharged. Cover crops should grow all year. Sometimes, the clover and other plants build a pretty thick root mat ill pull the whole thing and flip it over, kinda like a fresh start and let it germinate whatever is in the soil. After that, I'll cover the soil with a cover to germinate any remaining seeds and then pop it in the sun for a few days to kill off any competitors. After that, I'll add seedlings after Mother's Day just to try and beat the weather. The natural way is better for me. The plants always do better than expected. I'm always surprised. And the nightowl genetics kill it outdoors for autos. and covert for photos the BBG and the nitromethane did well. I crossed BBG with a pink champagne and got a few cannabis freaks a few looked like freakshow and a few dident look like cannabis plants at all? A bunch had really currled leafs.still working on the cross the ones that had flower smelled like berry fourloko booze.

I went over to terploc bags, no need for those packs or burping. Make sure you slow dry properly then dry trim and into the bags, forget about them for a few weeks and open them to a perfectly cured bud... burping jars is fun at first but gets old real quick especially when dealing with a few pounds of curing bud.

I put my harvest in mason jars and I do add the packs knowing that they do affect smell and maybe taste. But that seems to only happen with certain strains. I have a couple of strains that even with the packs continue to smell so good its unreal and because they hold some moisture its a real treat when smoked and my flowers are rich with sweet aroma. So ya its a trade off but not all strains change smell for the worse. Some don't change at all.

@@the_l0cksm1th I have only used the directions they recommended. For storage I feel like the brown paper bag does help keep the flower fresher. I bucked nugs into paper sack at about 30 grams each and they fold up nicely into the racks. For drying/curing. Hang dry for as long as you can, I think they recommend 3 days. I put 1 kilo of wet weight 1 day post harvest/hanging because of poor planning/timing on my part. It turned out good but I had to empty the water tray on the back of the unit multiple times a day because it was just too wet when it went in. The idea is just to shed the bulk of the moisture before putting it into the unit so it doesn’t have to work as hard in order to achieve the desired result. You will love it! It really simplifies the dry process.

Another awesome video Jeremy. Years ago when they first came out, I used boveda packs on a test for the cure on 1 jar and hated the outcome of what happened to the buds. Gave it a weird after taste/smell. Will never use that again in anything with my buds. Used Integra on another jar , does a better job as far a regulating humidity but again I did not like what the finished product had become due to the pack. At the end of it all, I will leave BOTH of them out and put the jars in a basement where it remains cool and no need for the packs period. In the west where a lot of homes do not have basements I see a need for something like a humidity pack. Try a fresh orange peel from a juicy orange but you have to watch how long it stays in their as it can go bad quick if you are not watching things. Thanks for the video and enjoy your grows.

Whoever asked the question of polyester microfibers sticking to buds when cutting Scrog net. You have the same attention to detail as me. The reality is there are indeed thousands of microfibers that can get released when cutting a Scrog screen, especially with air movement this could be a problem for some. My solution: hemp string and instead of cutting every string, make your own Scrog screen and loop it back and forth. So come harvest time you only have to cut once or twice creating less microfibers getting released.

I do keep a pretty detailed spreadsheet and I do track Bio weight. I have noticed a direct link to bigger harvest with bigger plants (for the most part, like he said watering or how much you trimmed before does matter). That said I have grown two clones with different light etc for stretch. Even though one was double the height, it was more spaced out and yielded almost the exact same. So genetics do play the biggest role. I also don't stunt, but keep on the shorter side now.

Potassium sulphate or Sulphate Of Potash (SOP). They're usually in granular form, which can be ground into powder and either sprinkled into top soil, or diluted in water for faster uptake. Some forms are inorganic, but most are organically OMRI approved. Molasses is all organic but the ratio of potassium content doesn't last as long (usually a week). Banana peels hold a lot of K, but they have to be Sun dried to kill pathogens in the UV, which takes about a week. SOP is probably the best for instant K uptake + amount and duration. Plus, you can also do the molasses and banana (peels or teas) in conjunction with the SOP or as extra top dressing boost along the way

Hello Jeremy, I have a question about the drying process. I live in a humid climate, and I need to be careful of mold so I've been told by the locals to take off as much leaf as possible and cut and hang the braches on clothes hangers. Last season, I wasn't able to control the temperature of the drying room but did have a dehumidifier that kept the humidity around the 60% range and was able to go 16 days as you suggest. This year I had an A/C installed and am able to control both humidity and temperature 60%/60F. The question is what if after 7 days, I get a snap when I test the branches for dryness? I don't want it to be too dry, should I take the buds off the branches once I get a snap and put them in jars even though it hasn't been 16 days? Or should I leave the bud on the branches until the 16 day limit? Thank you, Richard

I once did an experiment for a microbio class and we took a Petri dish with some agar and had to set it somewhere in our home for 10 minutes and then put the lid back on. We all did this and everyone had 10-20 different kind of microbes in our dishes growing after a day in the incubator. These microbes are just floating in the air all around us all the time, 99% of them are harmless. Just opens your eyes to all the bacteria and fungus that’s around us all the time. However when it comes to cleaning stuff, I would recommend cleaning any and everything after every run and certain things monthly during the grow. Like my water storage, air stones, and measuring cups do a monthly decon to (water and antibacterial soap and just mix it around and rinse out till the soap suds are gone). Things like pots, tent, light, and filters I do at the end of runs. But having algae or other bacteria growth in you water source is just asking for problems and make it harder to identify problems when they do come up so I always stress keeping my water sources clean more than anything. I work in a lab so my standards are definitely higher than most but i also have never had pm, rot, or pest problems other than the occasional fruit fly infestations during the summer months when it’s impossible to get rid of them so their is some logic to my over cleaning.

(Vegging light cycle ... 12hrs on ... 5.5 hrs off... 1hr on ...5.5hrs off.) based on the idea that a plant would need at least 8 hrs of uninterupted darkness in order to initiate flowering. The main obvious benefit being cost saving over the veg. period!

Thank you for the Q and A. I believe boost and Bovita does hurt the end product after using it for 2 harvests. Done using them.

Boveda packs work well for rehydrating overdried buds. Once they are rehydrated, remove the Boveda pack and let the Grove Bag do it’s job.

I am doing a lotus dry in a wine cooler with average temperatures in the 43 degree range and humidity between 45-50 RH. I'm on day 9 and seal jarred them up to measure the humidity. It was 64% after 6 hours so I put them back in the cooler to dry. I am going to cure/store them in Grove bags with no burping required. What percent humidity would you put them in the bags? I am thinking 60-61% RH would be good. I would leave them in the jar for up to 24 hours to make sure they were stabilized before transferring to the Grove bags. Also what are your thoughts on Grove bags? Thanks.

Question: have you read Nigel Palmers book; The regenerative growers guide to garden amendments? And if you have what do you think of it?

WHITE VINEGAR ANSWER. My water was 8 on the scale. I added 1 tablespoon of vinegar per gallon which brought it down to around 7. You can dig around on youtube and find the same information.
@ToledoTerps4 ай бұрын
I don’t see where it was listed that it was for anything other than maintaining already correct RH. Like how PH balance nutrients work best when within the correct range already so as to maintain that correct range. I’d never cure with one of those packs. I would and do, however, use them to maintain 62%. When used to maintain, they have never left any change in smell or flavor from my experience *unless I allowed it to rest directly on the herb for an extreme period*. And honestly, that was likely more the contact with the surface of the bag than anything. Else. When suspending them, they work well. That said, a proper environment will always remain superior to any method used. Bad environment and you’re only buying time.

What do you think about the integra packs that have terps add to them?
@Freedom_Born Жыл бұрын
Smoke and mirrors. Snake oil. How does it know what profiles your plant(s) have. There's like 30 terp profiles alone that are considered mainstream. There's almost 20,000 profiles all together.
@lovefortheplant6997 Жыл бұрын
Moisture packs have their place for certain situations. They work, in the sense of stabilizing moisture level. I even agree with Boveda talking heads that they can preserve terps. With all that being said, I can [and have] blindly picked out flower with Boveda in a lineup bc it has a specific tone to the profile. It's pleasant so I'm not going to say it ruins anything. Again, they have their place but there are more natural ways to control humidity with the right amount of experience and process. It's an acceptable tool for new growers or people lacking space/process.

Question for the next FAQ video about lava rock soil amendments. Our area is primarily clay, what are your thoughts on adding BAS basalt lava rock product to our soil and is there anything else that should be added into the clay-heavy soil beds. The beds are currently amended with rice hulls and pumice. Thank you Jeremy and BuildASoil!

Whats your take on grove bags?
@ninegatesofale1898 Жыл бұрын
For long term, I agree. I used a pack (some other brand than Boveda) on my last grow and, while the first few months weren't noticeable, after the third month, it lost all it's stank and now has this sad funk smell (not the funk you want). There's no mildew or anything like that, it just smells sad/stale/old.

I am not a huge smoker myself, but I am a grower and started using curing packs a while back. I use the large 32oz mason jars and have always just did the burp and rotate method until it got to where I liked it and then either vacuum sealed it for long term storage or used it right out of the jar. Recently though my son, who is a daily smoker, began to comment [unsolicited] about the weed tasting weird or no taste at all. I conferred with a friend who is also a grower and a smoker and he has had a similar experience. So after watching this video I decided to go back to the old method - and just after I spent money buying a bunch of the packs too. Oh well live and learn I guess.

Jeremy in your opinion would it ever be worth saving or keeping a clone that you took from 1 of your own plants tht ended up having russet mites , is there any circumstance that u would consider saving it amd fighting the russet mites ?!
@Freedom_Born Жыл бұрын
You're not actually transferring mites, you're continuing a sick plant. Ikyk that already, just thought I'd refresh your memory. Ofc on the of chance, it can grow healthily, but if it's a bad infestation. Then the plant wasn't healthy to begin with. Bugs generally only attack sick plants, or ones susceptible to weakness. A general ratio would be 15/85*. 15 relatively successful, 85 troublesome.
@Freedom_Born Жыл бұрын
So out of 10, you "might" get 2 semi healthy ones - troubles included. If it's only one, then you've got about a 15-20% chance of saving it and growing it healthy.

Hey hey, could you explain the differences and strengths of 3.0 and Dominion blend ? Thanks
@OkieTradez Жыл бұрын
i think ppl lie about their environments .. sure you had it 75 degrees - 65 degrees with 60% humidity on occasion but NOT entire grows and thats what separates the best from rest.. dialed in consistently! also if you want to hold onto terps and high i recommend cold temps the last 2 weeks .. best to gradually bring temps down but let buds ripen in cold temps and water in COLD water to tell the microbes its time to finish things off and i SWEAR youll have the terpiest best looking nugs of your LIFE!

What do you do to cure in a tropical environment? If I don't use them I get bud rot with my tropical humidity at 87%. I literally can't do it without buying ridiculously expensive dehumidifier for my home grow.

What do you all think of food grade plastic buckets with gamma lids? For longer term storage
@Freedom_Born Жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with them. Just that they "might have" BPF residue over time (unproven, but still talked about). They also hold humidity differently to glass. But if the room conditions the tubs are in is optimal, then it's fine. But you want it airtight.
@Freedom_Born Жыл бұрын
I could've talked about the electrostatic properties of the plastic possibly affecting trichomes, or about the plastic slowly absorbing moisture - cos plastic is kinda semi permeable. But those two problems are about as inconsequential as the BPF leaking.
@Hal_50 Жыл бұрын
They aren't as airtight as people think..

I got a question about overwatering. Can i just point my fan directly at the pot (im growing in fabric pots) to dry out the soil quicker and give the roots more oxygen?
@Freedom_Born Жыл бұрын
Short answer: Yes. When watering, look for 10-15% run off. If you don't have a moisture meter (none of us do), then gauge the wet weight, wait a day or two, gauge the dry weight - that's your difference. Poke your finger as deep as possible, feel if it's dry, feel underneath, if it's dry under AND not heavy, it's time to water. Also, the leaves and leaf stems will tell you. Leaf drooping = overwatered Leaf and leaf stems drooping = underwatered.

Avoid watering to runoff idk why this guy would tell you that you’re just washing nutrients out every time you water till runoff
@Freedom_Born Жыл бұрын
@@georgemeixner3262 Lmfao I've been gardening for over 30yrs mate. You always water to run-off. Because you're making sure it's thoroughly watered, and you're washing out excess salts. In coco it's almost always 20%. For soil it's generally around 10% Google is your friend. I ain't.
@Mad_Medz Жыл бұрын
@@georgemeixner3262 its like what @freedom_born said, a little run off is ok. I grow organically so i water enough to saturate the soil and get a bit of run off, the only thing that sucks with fabric pots is the most of the water tend to run out the sides so i use more water than someone in plastic containers would use to make up for the loss
@Mad_Medz Жыл бұрын
@@Freedom_Born right indeed, my issue lately has been nute lockout so i was saturating my soil to kinda free up those nutes a bit which resulted in overwatering and slowed growth hence why i asked if placing a fan directly infront of the fabric pot would dry the soil quicker and provide more oxygen to the roots
