To everyone: Remember if you use boveda packs you still need to burp them jars. I use them for years now. The terps literally stay like they where just chopped for months. It’s only purpose is to uphold the humidity your weed still needs air 👌🏽

@@OddWoz most likely a mistake happened along the way. I just wanted to make the use of them clear they cannot alter taste or terps in any way. People need to get away from the „set it and forget it“ mindset. No one ever achieved the best that way, no matter in wich circumstances.

@@machete165 I respect your opinion, but I have had numerous bad experiences with them in far too many scenarios for me to believe it’s somehow been misuse. It’s a very specific taste that I’ve had appear in bud within only a few hours of using it and then going back to a jar.

@@OddWoz Ive found certain packs are moister and some leave a certain taste with them, it depends on the pack, i generally use packs that are almost dry as it keeps the dodge away. I think most times ive had bad experiences with boveda is when there is temperature swings outside the jar swinging humidity inside or the weed was too moist to begin with.

For the person asking about the trellis net fibers... i 100% know exactly what youre talking about. Not sure what brand it was but there is netting made out of a certain material that just explodes with fibers when cut. It acts like a soft version of fiberglass. And yes, it was a mighty pain in the ass. Whatever brand it was that gave you trouble, dont ever buy it again. Get a different material and when you get it, cut one strand over something black and youll easily see if it rains fibers

Lol I was just thinking to myself, man when they're outdoors, they're prone to tonnes of crap. Bugs, bug shit, bug babies, bug nests, dirt, dust, fluff, pathogens etc... and yet, even after occasionally washing them, we still see shit stuck to the crystals. I can understand those fibres would be a royal pain in the ass to get off.

For outdoors fabric pots buried a few inches deep is a game changer. You can bottom water, and you get more flexibility on watering when the summer heat is crazy. Living soil connected back with the earth is basically supercharged. Cover crops should grow all year. Sometimes, the clover and other plants build a pretty thick root mat ill pull the whole thing and flip it over, kinda like a fresh start and let it germinate whatever is in the soil. After that, I'll cover the soil with a cover to germinate any remaining seeds and then pop it in the sun for a few days to kill off any competitors. After that, I'll add seedlings after Mother's Day just to try and beat the weather. The natural way is better for me. The plants always do better than expected. I'm always surprised. And the nightowl genetics kill it outdoors for autos. and covert for photos the BBG and the nitromethane did well. I crossed BBG with a pink champagne and got a few cannabis freaks a few looked like freakshow and a few dident look like cannabis plants at all? A bunch had really currled leafs.still working on the cross the ones that had flower smelled like berry fourloko booze.

I put my harvest in mason jars and I do add the packs knowing that they do affect smell and maybe taste. But that seems to only happen with certain strains. I have a couple of strains that even with the packs continue to smell so good its unreal and because they hold some moisture its a real treat when smoked and my flowers are rich with sweet aroma. So ya its a trade off but not all strains change smell for the worse. Some don't change at all.

I went over to terploc bags, no need for those packs or burping. Make sure you slow dry properly then dry trim and into the bags, forget about them for a few weeks and open them to a perfectly cured bud... burping jars is fun at first but gets old real quick especially when dealing with a few pounds of curing bud.

@@the_l0cksm1th I have only used the directions they recommended. For storage I feel like the brown paper bag does help keep the flower fresher. I bucked nugs into paper sack at about 30 grams each and they fold up nicely into the racks. For drying/curing. Hang dry for as long as you can, I think they recommend 3 days. I put 1 kilo of wet weight 1 day post harvest/hanging because of poor planning/timing on my part. It turned out good but I had to empty the water tray on the back of the unit multiple times a day because it was just too wet when it went in. The idea is just to shed the bulk of the moisture before putting it into the unit so it doesn’t have to work as hard in order to achieve the desired result. You will love it! It really simplifies the dry process.

Jars are NOT old school. BOG taught me to grow way back in the day and the first fucking thing he told me was that jars are not air tight, and you need to use one of those big glass jars with the lever-latch lids and the super thick rubber gasket if you're afraid of plastic, or an airtight lid on jars if you're not. NOBODY does this because they've invented this revisionist history where the old school choice was always glass jars with unsealed lids (you have to heat them in a pressure cooker to seal the glue)

I paint my jars with black chalk paint. It keeps the light out, which I’ve found helps tremendously. As a bonus you can label them with chalk markers. Draw on them too, have some fun with it!✌🏼

humidity packs are fine imo. dont always have to keep them in there also. shouldnt be used to speed up any process if some novice puts in flowers wet expecting it to cure well. jar use for curing is old head bro tech especially at low amounts. if you cured in bags you can burp better, toss the buds around without putting your hand in the bag to let new air in when burping, and customize head space within the bag if you can tie it off in a knot. jars are also a lot of extra weight, n shatter hazard. the only benefit for jars is that u cant squish em

Jar curing is NOT old head bro tech. NOBODY EVER USED JARS THAT WAY. Another awesome video Jeremy. Years ago when they first came out, I used boveda packs on a test for the cure on 1 jar and hated the outcome of what happened to the buds. Gave it a weird after taste/smell. Will never use that again in anything with my buds. Used Integra on another jar , does a better job as far a regulating humidity but again I did not like what the finished product had become due to the pack. At the end of it all, I will leave BOTH of them out and put the jars in a basement where it remains cool and no need for the packs period. In the west where a lot of homes do not have basements I see a need for something like a humidity pack. Try a fresh orange peel from a juicy orange but you have to watch how long it stays in their as it can go bad quick if you are not watching things. Thanks for the video and enjoy your grows.

Whoever asked the question of polyester microfibers sticking to buds when cutting Scrog net. You have the same attention to detail as me. The reality is there are indeed thousands of microfibers that can get released when cutting a Scrog screen, especially with air movement this could be a problem for some. My solution: hemp string and instead of cutting every string, make your own Scrog screen and loop it back and forth. So come harvest time you only have to cut once or twice creating less microfibers getting released.

I do keep a pretty detailed spreadsheet and I do track Bio weight. I have noticed a direct link to bigger harvest with bigger plants (for the most part, like he said watering or how much you trimmed before does matter). That said I have grown two clones with different light etc for stretch. Even though one was double the height, it was more spaced out and yielded almost the exact same. So genetics do play the biggest role. I also don't stunt, but keep on the shorter side now.

The 5 gallon buckets are sometimes 95% void air and there is no effect on taste or high. I just make sure I have a good initial cure and burp bucket daily for 2 weeks during cure. I vape my flower to enjoy the terps, I know what good terps taste like and I have no issues with terps using boveda packs or void space in my storage.

Hi Jeremy - excellent show, as usual! .... Question: Have you any experience or thoughts on the "Gas Lantern' lighting schedule for vegging? It also drops the lighting hours in flower from 11 down to 9 or 10 depending upon how far you want to go! (Vegging light cycle ... 12hrs on ... 5.5 hrs off... 1hr on ...5.5hrs off.) based on the idea that a plant would need at least 8 hrs of uninterupted darkness in order to initiate flowering. The main obvious benefit being cost saving over the veg. period!

I have two questions for you, Jeremy and the BAS community as a beginner organic grower. I'm about to do my first run in a 3x3 grassroots bed (indoor, 4x4 tent) and was wondering how many transplants you'd recommend when im starting in a rooting cube. The second question is regarding using the same bed for other crops. Can this be done viably with reamending etc, and are there certain crops to stay clear from (with consideration to the main crop). Nothing but respect and appreciation to your channel/team 💚 🇦🇺

Moisture packs have their place for certain situations. They work, in the sense of stabilizing moisture level. I even agree with Boveda talking heads that they can preserve terps. With all that being said, I can [and have] blindly picked out flower with Boveda in a lineup bc it has a specific tone to the profile. It's pleasant so I'm not going to say it ruins anything. Again, they have their place but there are more natural ways to control humidity with the right amount of experience and process. It's an acceptable tool for new growers or people lacking space/process.

Hey Bud the cover crop method you are going to do season 6 like I just did. I turned 2 inch of soil after chopping out 1 cycle amended and just scratched into surface. I did feel my bed was a little low in soil from settling so I added few more inches of soil. I use Purplecow Organics craftersmix. I then put my cover crop mix and let them grow to about 6 to 7 inches and chop it and just scratched in with fingers and used the Blue oyster Mushroom straw over and by far this has been my best grow ever. Your advice and knowledge has been very useful.

For anyone who think Boveda steals terps because the bouquet is muted, let’s explore how smell works- In order for you to smell something, that process involves the particles responsible for the smell (in this instance terps) leaving your flower, evaporating into the surrounding air, and entering your nose/olfactory receptors. Boveda actually preserves terps by keeping them from evaporating. Once you grind up a nug that’s been preserved with Boveda, you get smacked in the face with that smell. Think of fresh fruit vs decaying fruit. I know the perspective I am giving is obviously biased, but Boveda has had multiple studies done to disprove the stealing terps rumor, and they are always more than happy to share the data. Data doesn’t lie!!! Also for those who aren’t a fan of the 62%, try out the 58% packs. Some growers and cannabis users do not have the luxury of a completely controlled environment for curing and long term storage, but CVault x Boveda is here to help.

Humidity packs are pointless. The flower holds 62% without any bovida packs in or anything, just in a sealed bucket or jar, just your flower. Sealed all year opening here and there to grab more flower for my smaller jars, I held my flower at 62% with no bovida packs in all 10 sealed pails. I used them every year prior but now I see they're not needed and an extra cost. They're something that's not needed, just like those CO2 generator things ppl hang in their tents that you make more Co2 going and looking at your plants a few times a day or having your tent in an area you live in. I have my doubts those bags ppl rave about to store your herb do anything special either since you have to get your flower to a certain humidity before using they're probabaly just the same as using a food grade sealed bucket or regular turkey bag even. Oh and we seen with covid how easy it is to get data to skew whichever way you want even if it's not true so a company doing their own testing I can't just believe either lol. ✌🏾️ 💨

I once did an experiment for a microbio class and we took a Petri dish with some agar and had to set it somewhere in our home for 10 minutes and then put the lid back on. We all did this and everyone had 10-20 different kind of microbes in our dishes growing after a day in the incubator. These microbes are just floating in the air all around us all the time, 99% of them are harmless. Just opens your eyes to all the bacteria and fungus that’s around us all the time. However when it comes to cleaning stuff, I would recommend cleaning any and everything after every run and certain things monthly during the grow. Like my water storage, air stones, and measuring cups do a monthly decon to (water and antibacterial soap and just mix it around and rinse out till the soap suds are gone). Things like pots, tent, light, and filters I do at the end of runs. But having algae or other bacteria growth in you water source is just asking for problems and make it harder to identify problems when they do come up so I always stress keeping my water sources clean more than anything. I work in a lab so my standards are definitely higher than most but i also have never had pm, rot, or pest problems other than the occasional fruit fly infestations during the summer months when it’s impossible to get rid of them so their is some logic to my over cleaning.

Cannatrol absolutely crushes for those of us who don’t have the right conditions for a proper dry/cure. I’ve had a Cannatrol since they first came out, mine was the first production model shipped in New England It’s done so well and I’m growing more flower than ever, that I actually bought a second unit!

Bro Science Alert!!! Never had a problem with boveda, always kept my bud smelling amazing and just the right moisture, but I use them in combination with Grove bags, most growers put their bud in to early, and I think this is the issue they're having, if you do a 10 to 14 day dry, use grow bags in conjunction with boveda, I think most people will be pleased with the results. Boveda literally has done studies on this, and I suggest everyone checks them out, I prefer to follow science backed data , but to each his own 🤷

I like using the packs to prevent mold. I don't know about the claims that it will completely cure out the humidity from wet flower, but it will sure add moisture to most crumbly dry dispensary bud. The smell and harshness usually gets enhanced.

I am not a huge smoker myself, but I am a grower and started using curing packs a while back. I use the large 32oz mason jars and have always just did the burp and rotate method until it got to where I liked it and then either vacuum sealed it for long term storage or used it right out of the jar. Recently though my son, who is a daily smoker, began to comment [unsolicited] about the weed tasting weird or no taste at all. I conferred with a friend who is also a grower and a smoker and he has had a similar experience. So after watching this video I decided to go back to the old method - and just after I spent money buying a bunch of the packs too. Oh well live and learn I guess.

For long term, I agree. I used a pack (some other brand than Boveda) on my last grow and, while the first few months weren't noticeable, after the third month, it lost all it's stank and now has this sad funk smell (not the funk you want). There's no mildew or anything like that, it just smells sad/stale/old.

Hello in my first grow. Growing a Moroccan Peaches from clone. 7 Gallon Pot 2000 watt Vander light 14-15 inches away from foliage Nutes : Top dress- 1 cup Natures Pride Veg and now switched to Natures Pride Bloom, Watered in with Recharge 1/2 teaspoon , 1/2 Teaspoon Cal mag, 1/2 Silica Monday Once a week Next water Friday is usually 1 teaspoon per gallon of Natures pride Flower finisher I dont PH or Check PPM much TEMP 75-78 RH 55-60 Question is : The Pistils are turning red already and its only week 4 of flower. Should i have counted the 2 weeks of transition as flower as well? Maybe i miscalculated by not counting that time as flower. Also the buds are very very small. What else could can be the problem? I need to check the Trichomes. so I'll be ordering or picking up a microscope soon. What else could can be the problem. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks for all you do for the community!!!!!

QUESTION. what edible plants are good to co-grow in a large pot with cannabis? both with the soil we use, and the lighting schedules 18/6 12/12? i have 4x4 pots and 150 gallon and would like to have as mutch use from the soil as possible. im already doing strawberries and they seem to flower fine in 18/6, though they do like the shade more than direct light.

Hello Jeremy, I have a question about the drying process. I live in a humid climate, and I need to be careful of mold so I've been told by the locals to take off as much leaf as possible and cut and hang the braches on clothes hangers. Last season, I wasn't able to control the temperature of the drying room but did have a dehumidifier that kept the humidity around the 60% range and was able to go 16 days as you suggest. This year I had an A/C installed and am able to control both humidity and temperature 60%/60F. The question is what if after 7 days, I get a snap when I test the branches for dryness? I don't want it to be too dry, should I take the buds off the branches once I get a snap and put them in jars even though it hasn't been 16 days? Or should I leave the bud on the branches until the 16 day limit? Thank you, Richard

I am doing a lotus dry in a wine cooler with average temperatures in the 43 degree range and humidity between 45-50 RH. I'm on day 9 and seal jarred them up to measure the humidity. It was 64% after 6 hours so I put them back in the cooler to dry. I am going to cure/store them in Grove bags with no burping required. What percent humidity would you put them in the bags? I am thinking 60-61% RH would be good. I would leave them in the jar for up to 24 hours to make sure they were stabilized before transferring to the Grove bags. Also what are your thoughts on Grove bags? Thanks.

Can you give your thoughts on the ingredients in Dr. Earths veg 4-6-3 and their flower girl 3-9-4? The ingredients are easy to find. I would like to hear your honest opinion✌️😎

If you make small batches, just buy it ready made from Dr Earth, if you want to make your own large batches, you can find bulk ingredients to mix. 25-50 LB bags. Add em all up you end up withal of fertilizer. But if you only need less than 50 lbs, just buy already premixed. They've already done all the calculations.

you only need to grow with the tomato mix aka what depot or lowes etc has, the drearth green bag...but its stale and set, works for outdoor, eight footers in michigan with rain water, i prove it many years... of course BuildAsoil craft blend is much superior quality.... with the microbes. In the end, you get what you pay for... when in a pinch, i always recommend them but high end quality, craft blend by jeremy here is superior quality, he puts in the effort... my two cents

Reeeds smell is gone because he dried too fast or put it in there too early Boveda packs aren’t used to add or take away moisture., They’re used to stabilize. You need about an inch of head space ., Just like when canning garden vegetables., Boveda absolutely have their place .,, 1st couple weeks burping don’t use a boveda pack till it’s time for storage., Half gallon mason jars..
