This is next level. You have made your chassis,electrical components,even designed the body considering the aerodynamics, ergonomics, engineering, dynamics etc etc. the knowledge that you have got to do the calculations and design the components is mind blowing you even designed(like a designer) the body which really looks good. You are a one man army. Like an engineer designer and mechanic blended into one. This is what happens when knowledge meets experience. And theory meets practice. You are an inspiration! Please keep sharing.

I have to say that this is one of the most inspiring channels on KZbin when it comes to chasing your dream, I've been a race engineer for over a decade and up until I started watching your videos, I never would have considered building my own car, but since I started following the build about a year ago I've been talking to my friends and coming up with a plan to build a pro level drift car from scratch, so I just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work, we are all fans of your build and can't wait to see it completed.

I discovered your channel about a month ago, glad to see that it has become more popular! I've been wanting to build a car of my own someday. I know it won't be soon as I'm only 18 and don't have much resources or the knowledge/experience to build something like this. I've been doing a lot of reading on vehicle dynamics and a bit of reading on other topics that include materials science, chassis design, and fabrication techniques, though I've yet to really apply what I've learned to any kind of project yet. It's going to be a couple years at least, but I will build one someday. Your channel is a good resource, I imagine I'll be coming back to it often!

Unfortunately that stopped with frustration of not knowing enough and having no cash. I'm living my dream vicariously through you. I grew up in body shops, I think I chewed on a bondo spreader instead of a teething ring... I've done just about everything you can imagine with vehicles while I was in the game, except creating an original like you're doing, but always wanted to. I had the concept and design in my head, but it never came to be. Instead I went into music, then graphic design till I retired, now I have the time, but because of age and health it's out of reach. Happy I ran across your channel, it's refreshing to see art, ingenuity, and creativity still exist on this level. Kudos sir!

Wow coming up on TWENTY THOUSAND subscribers! That's incredible growth! Congratulations sir you certainly deserve it. I feel like you were under a thousand subs and I blinked and here you are! As I sit here watching...I am curious why you don't spray a gel coat layer before laminating. I have only a very limited knowledge about composites so maybe there is some benefit to skipping that step?
@BuilderCreator
@BuilderCreator 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah! I'm still blinking! Gel coat- The gel is applied to improve the finish. One of those things is to reduce print through (resin shrinks and you can see the fiber pattern) I will be doing a post finishing process of fill primer/sand, to get the best paint finish and so the gel is just added weight. As mentioned in this video, I also use a very fine weave fiberglass as the first layer so that print through is also "fine." Good to hear from you.

So many things you say here resonate with me on so many levels. Most males in my family and friends' families had jobs which were engineering based - when I was growing up I could get anything made or repaired, almost impossible these days. Over my life I have built a Ferrari replica (not ground up but donor based), guitars (from wood stock - not Woodstock!), electronics from when I was about 6 where I was using my grandmother's best cutlery heated on a stove to "de-solder" old radios, to today where I can design simple circuits and make them do what I want, renovating houses and having a semi-succesful career in Banking. I passed electrical engineering exams to wire my houses, put my own heating systems in with certification, building work and plastering etc.etc. I have never made things easy for myself though and always been distracted by the next "interesting thing to make or mend". I too do most of the design in my head. From seeing your work I'm nowhere near the same level as yourself, and I’ve sometimes been disappointed by the outcome of my efforts, but the thing that resonated the most is the addiction to tools, from good quality old chisels to a hi-tech solder station, from a portable welder (scared the life out of me) to a large petrol engine wood chipper and chain saws ............. if I can imagine me using it, I'll buy it. This is a fascinating series and you're a very modest and interesting man. p.s. I have hankered after a lathe and milling machine for most of my life but could never justify them, ah well y'never know. Respect from the U.K.

I think if i answer this in the sub thread #electric Supercar will see it as well- I have tried many brands ( and frankly many likely use the same chemist/root source) and the characteristics of the resin, for this type of use, are so similar it comes down to price and customer service. I buy from a company called US Composites.com out of Florida.Tell them Jay Jarvie sent you. Not a paid promotion YET! Ha!

You really are an inspiration. At 25:56 you gave the best advice ever. I see so many talented designers/engineers on this platform making replicas. If all of them have your way of thinking then there will be a lot more custom automobile manufacturing studios. Lucra and Tachyon hypercar are good examples.

I love your story. I can relate to almost everything you said, and im going through some right now. I love your decision on giving back. There's people who dont want to teach because they dont want to teach people their "secrets", but the irony is that they probably learned from someone who loved to teach and move information. And these are just processes, not secret formulas, so what is being taught is good workmanship and quality, and that is more important than secret materials or formulas in my opinion Arete is an awesome name. Fun fact: (ancient greeks) It can loosely be interpreted as achieving excellence or moral virtue/virtue

If we only knew what DARPA and other skunk works were doing we would now that I'm only dabbling in "ancient," technology anyway. Ha! Arete- in this case, I'm using it as achieving potential rather than virtue. Although we all need to strive for that as well!

I've just watched most of the video's relating to this project today & half way through I subscribed. Firstly because I want to see the end result so want notifications for your videos but also because of you. It is an uplifting experience to view your videos & listen to you explain things in such an unpretentious manner. It is no surprise to me that your channel has grown so quickly. There are many people out here who would like to follow in your footsteps but probably need to take baby steps in the art of design, mold making etc. I see a huge future, one you may have no interest in ( and that would be fair enough), for you in instructional videos setting out easy to follow instructions for projects that could be completed on low budgets but which would get people started in creating things which could lead them towards the majestic heights that you are scaling. Anyway, I'm enjoying your journey & wish you all the enjoyment going forward. I, and many others will share that enjoyment with you!

Loving your content, I’ve been a creator and maker all my life, never been my career path but always my passion...friends and family have always wondered how I managed to pick up a tool and make it work for me straight away, I’m dyslexic so I’d explain that thinking about something creates visualisation automatically. I think you move this a step further with the term photographic concept memory. I really resonates with my thought process, thank you. Keep up the great work, I’m now an avid follower of what you create.

I knew there was something I liked about you. You must be LDS, as am I. I've watched about 50 of your videos so far. I plan on making a large 5 axis router for making full size plugs/molds so I can make a Supercar, but I plan on building it with a twin turbo charged LS engine with about 1800 hp. I don't have the skill level you have for fabrication, but I have done body work, auto painting and engine building, so hopefully I can build my dream car this coming year. But first, I need to finish painting my 67 L78 Camaro and sell it. Your videos have been very helpful. Thanks for posting so much information.

I'm one of your new guys. I was introduced to prototyping back in my youth, my father was tool and die working in a small private shop. I've always loved racing and especially Le Mans Prototype racing. I've also wanted to build a prototype as well, I love the current LMP3 and the last generation Audi R18+. I really love your approach and keeping it under 30k is impressive! At some point you could check out SimScale, get a base idea of your aero to help correlation with other testing.

Over that time I also noticed the subscriber count go from just over 24,000 to 26,500.
