They do the best with what they have. Main problem in Kenya is lack of business opportunities so everyone is a landlord, government has poor land use and building code enforcement and regulations and the worst of them all is the lack of sensible land management. Then there is land ownership issue which is something that has bogged Kenya since independence.... so some of these buildings eventually collapse easily during rain storms and as the country's population grows out of control, Kenya's once open green spaces and lavish grasslands, tree cover, is slowly morphing into apartment blocks, haphazardly built anywhere and everywhere in turn, turning Kenya into one big open slum.
@justusbuyu93449 ай бұрын
@@taucetus3657 whole thing is weird. I can't rationalize how this is an investment. Can this bring back the 650k put in?...Because in 10 years wouldn't this area be a slum? I'm kenyan and our take on progress(housing, education etc) is remarkably off the rails. It's almost as if everyone's doing this not because they want to build..but because there aren't any other places to put your money in...they are building just fr the sake of it. There's nothing organic abt this.
@taucetus36579 ай бұрын
@@justusbuyu9344 also the lack of 'exposure' which is a weapon every nation outside Africa uses against Africa. Nothing in Africa is well managed so the tragedy of over population, over pollution and inadequate sustainability will continue to unfold until it is unbearable. Kenya is turning into one concrete block, increasing its carbon footprint every year. When the consequences of climate change hit countries like Kenya, Kenya will suffer alone. Everyone saw what the world did to Africa during Covid. Another issue is, a majority of Kenya's government is made up of foolish under-educated and unskilled people... most who get the job through favoritism, tribal affiliation etc and when they get into public office, they seldom do anything significant other than primitive accumulation of public resources for themselves. So everything is mismanaged from the top to the bottom. It is why a lot of the British settlers in Kenya while leaving the country in the early 70s and 80s said that the reason they were leaving is because the country they built called Kenya died in 1961 and was buried in 1963.

This building won’t withstand 7 on Richter scale earthquakes. Too many flawed techniques
@jeanrobertpierre49899 ай бұрын
Wow….very poor construction. This building doesn’t have the proper support to handle the weight for the water drums on top. They should have used metal beams for support. Any 4 magnitude earthquake can bring this building down to the ground. So many people can die because of the lack infrastructure to this building. It’s these types of constructions that took more than 300,000 live in Haiti in 2010.
@practicalcivilandstructura32988 ай бұрын
Considering its in kenya, those reiforcements will be uneconomical and unnecessary since there are no earthquakes
