I know it is a bit late now but it would have been better if the rocks were taken from between the pillars and not in front or rear of them. The rocks upstream would protect the islet from floods. But heck what a fantastic bridge you created from bamboo as strong and beautiful as the builder.

My exact thoughts! There is NO possible way on this green earth that she accomplished all that by herself. The speed at which she was throwing rocks and arranging them would have taken weeks to fill the bamboo structures.The credit should actually go to the video editor first and then to the photographer, who both made it look quite seamless.Then give the ""model" credit for a lot of bamboo fitting and sledge hammer slinging - quite realistic.

Great type of construction , I think a point added to the up stream end of each of the piers would lower the water stress on the piers during higher water flow giving greater durability in flood periods again great work
@Rustedinmyshackleferd
@Rustedinmyshackleferd 7 ай бұрын
………what? How is that possible doesnt matter how much up stream you build you will always be building down stream . How can you lower the stress on this by doing that is it is literally impossible .
@Moriandrizzt
@Moriandrizzt 7 ай бұрын
@@Rustedinmyshackleferd I'm pretty sure they meant to add a triangle to the upstream section of this pier. It would be attached. The tip would cause the water to split and flow more smoothly past the pier thus reducing drag. EDIT: like an airplane wings leading edge.
@Rustedinmyshackleferd
@Rustedinmyshackleferd 7 ай бұрын
@@Moriandrizzt yea cause i was wondering how there gonna keep this during a serious flood or down poor. From historical perspectives bridges like this on there own didnt last long. Normally there would be something built to help split the stream in some way or another but im not entirely sure about this bridge at all. My grandpa when i was a kid would take me to work with him he was a bridge inspector for the entire state of west virginia and he stated this bridge wouldnt hold. But stated if they put pillons behind the bridge innthe direction the stream was flowing toward the bridge in a V pattern they could potentially keep the bridge during a flood all depending on how they backed the V.

Definitely not a solo project. Regardless I am impressed at bamboo as a construction material. I wonder how long a bridge like this could withstand normal river conditions and typical weather patterns. And how it holds up against more serious flooding. I wouldn't give it more than two years. But I really don't know - maybe it lasts much longer. Any old bamboo bridges like this in existence?

This is absolutely fabulous. Such much hard work. I do wonder what she is going to do to further secure the rocks when the bamboo rots in two years. The bamboo she's looks very green and not at all dried and treated to last and even if it was the direct contact with the water would rapidly rot it either way. It makes sense for a temporary place holder. I look forward to her next steps on how she resolves this issue.

You don’t need to align those buttresses/stamptions/foundations/pylons (what ever you want to call them) to each other in a straight line!!! But a string line, would save you a lot of aggravation,”down the road”!!! But I do like the fact that she pre-cut bamboo frame sets for them though!!! I’m guessing that you wouldn’t have to worry about ice jams (in those latitudes), but upstream water/debris diverters and flood water bracing, (downstream side) would be wise!!! They could be done before or after the bridge, but that is (a lot of hard work done), I would hate to see a storm surge or flood water debris takeout the foundations!!!

Right at the 5:22 min mark, you can easily here someone honking a horn for possibly a dozer, log cutter, or auto mobile of some sort. But the description says she is alone and off grid. Bullshit. Just a clever ploy to get views. Probably wouldn't get anywhere near the views it gets if it was described as a woman with construction crew and heavy equipment builds primitive bridge on shallow stream.

@@dustyjones8988 I agree with the general approach of what we see being built, caves which then become villas with every comfort..., houses, huts, igloo bridges on trees etc etc It is an economy, for those poor parts of the world..., based on their manual skills of their peasant civilizations etc etc. With well organized projects, with adequate media resources and good post-production work... this is the result. From the series; they live there very well talk about 225,610 views in 7 days, at 1 USD cent per view... that's a lot of money Think about it when they will have millions of visions of it. they make 1 film a month.... ;)

Very impressive but those supports won’t last when that river floods. Just remember a cubic metre of water is a metric tonne of water pushing on those bamboo frames. When that river floods . Their will be thousands if not millions of tonnes of MOTHER NATURE pushing against that poor old bamboo. Once the bamboo gives way the weight of the ballast will move with the flow of the water and down the river the bridge goes.
