@@GeckonCZ But the polling is so fast that it is not noticeable. The only thing that I can think of is in an old server room. IDK for sure, I've setup virtual servers but never setup the host hardware.

@@GiSWiG Polling will never be as fast as hardware interrupt. But yeah, unless you actually measure it, the delay won't be noticeable at all in most situations. @@draxoronxztgs1212 Tweaking your MS-DOS config files wasn't a thing anymore during the P3 era; that was all bug & pray in Windows :)

@@Dawwwg Yes, but it was still necessary to manage in Windows and BIOS if intalling the drivers didn't worked due to IRQ collisions. Some controller cards have their required IRQ and DMA settings to work at all that can not be changed. The Plug'and'Pray feature wasn't called that because it always worked as intended.

Purely cathartic. I actually remember painting an old laptop because it had scuffs, and ditching it due to the rubbery nature of paint.

Amir Pourghoureiyan true. Though let’s be honest, the designs of older computers such as IBM PCs or Commodore machines are far better than anything we have today

Nice to see someone else play Lucid! I had a dual soundcard solution in the late 90s in an IBM Aptiva with on-board MWave, I couldn't get my shiny new SB128 PCI to work at all in DOS so I somehow managed to get the PC to use the SB in Windows and switch the MWave in DOS and Command Prompt which worked great but did require the use of two sets of PC speakers.

You take me back to my early days of computer repairing when I watch these videos. My first and only store bought computer was a 386SX Packer Bell running Windows 2.1. It had 4 megs of onboard memory which part of that was being used by the onboard video it also had a 28k modem. Parts was hard to come by per say and very expensive, 4 megs of memory for this was around 180 dollars. In the end the system had a Intel 486 Overdrive CPU, 8 megs of memory and some kind of video card along with a v90 modem, I really though I had something then.
