In this episode we are building an HO scale kit from Carolina Craftsman Kits called Nickerson Landing. I show you how to build the three structures. I also cover how to paint and weather them. I show you how to take a paper sign and make it look like rusted metal and many more tips . I also discuss my favorite podcast and talk a little about how I build so fast.

Jason, again I'm in awe in how you are able to make items look so old and weathered. All skills that I'm working on. And I'm happy to see one of Jeff's kits in your hands. I've built a few with a couple more to come. You certainly do it proud.

Great tutorial once again Jason. One can learn much from explanation of how instructions can be followed or side step to scratch build within original diagram. Likewise a great shout out to father/son team, Todd & Brett Wiley .

Another great tutorial... and so many tips! I actually really like the ripped paper on the add on structure. I laughed when you said of the waist Ted time looking things over with each step, I can add to that running to my husband or daughter to show them each step! Paul said why don’t I wait and show him the whole thing when I’m done! I drive him crazy, and I waste sooo much time.

Hey Jason, nice video. You mention that you are looking for a place on your layout to put Nickerson Landing. How about putting out a video of your layout - both present and future. I'm sure more people would like to see where you are going to put all the structures you have created.
@JasonJensenTrains

I will have many videos in the future on placing structures on the layout and making full detailed scenes.

Always a great build from you. I just have a question, do pastel chalks go dull overtime, like when you handle it? Is there any way to make them stick permanently onto the model?
@JasonJensenTrains
@JasonJensenTrains 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!!! The pastels do not go dull. They stay on the models permanently and you do not need to put a clear coat on them. Thanks for watching!!!

Another great video. Many thanks for the comprehensive explanation of the process. I have a quick question. I noticed you have art paints from many manufacturers, but as a rule you tend to use more often the americana brand. Is that for quality of the paint, or just because of higher availability at your local stores? Thanks.
@JasonJensenTrains

Thank you so much!!! I just really like Americana and recently I’ve been using lots of paint from Ammo by MiG. Thanks for watching!!!

Hi Jason, on the first structure you built, can I trouble you for a link to the north eastern scale lumber that you used on either side of the pop out tarpaper structure? I’m trying to match that exact material, but cannot figure out on their site which product it is. I’m sure it’s probably a pain in the butt, but I would really appreciate it!

Great video Jason, Your building looks outstanding. I'm new to craftsman kits. I have purchased several kits and am eager to get started. I'm worried about the wood warping when painting/staining. Does adding the bracing and painting both sides minimize warping? What else should I be aware of as, far as wood warping goes. Thank you

Another great build Jason! Do you ever use an airbrush or rattle can for priming/painting your window and door castings? Seems like that would offer a better finish. Continue to enjoy your channel!

You always show that there are nice colored pictures and instructions. My question is do you even read or follow them? 🤔

Yes, I usually read through the instructions a couple times before starting. Each kit is different so I never assume that they go together the same way.

Interesting video with a lot of nice techniques; unfortunately, some of your work was outside the camera's field of view --- probably hard to keep everything in view when you're dealing with small structures (anything smaller than 1:1).
