Another Lowcountry Southerner here (GA), Thanks for the great info. Had a lot of friends living in adobe in NM, and it worked so well for that climate. Somehow I'd totally spaced on the fact that humidity could work WELL with natural materials, just alien to my experience.

I live in the South Carolina lowcountry and needed to hear this. Another big fear of mine is local regulations not being caught up with the techniques I would want to use. Have you run into much difficulty with inspectors/utilities/government entities not really understanding what you're trying to do? I am also dirt poor and don't even know where to start other than buying land and camping on it until I'm finished building. I really appreciate the channel. I would love some tips for people just starting out. I've done a lot of reading and it seems most cob builders end up being people who already have a good bit of money put away or at least already make good money.

Great shear TY. How would it hold up to a swamp cooler and/or a Evaporative Cooler ? Or is it best to go with any thing other than these 2 options I mentioned ?

I'm in north Alabama and I need help! I want a straw bale cob house but It's a steep learning curve and I'm concerned about how to plub it and set up the electrical

It's actually not all that difficult. Once you figure out the basics it's easy (but tedious) sailing from thereafter. I would also suggest at the very least doing his online classes to get comfortable with the process. The hard part is finding the people to help you out (school age kids and their parents looking to get their hands and feet muddy over summer break are a big help, as are other people looking to learn how to cob too.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnSteHSohLuJobcfeature=shared Also another word of advice: don't build a huge cob house. It'll take you forever to build even with a lot of helping hands on the job.

Can you put a shed roof on a cob structure? Meaning, a shed room has good overhang on 3 sides, but one side is more exposed to rain. Do you have to have a more traditional pitched room so all for sides are covered?

Do you mean a sheet metal roof? I don't see any reason why you couldn't arrange that in a traditional triangular shape or even a cone. Personally, I would just take issue with the aesthetic.

@@ryanstewart116 Nope, shed roof, (I think that is the correct term). A roof that is 45 degree angle only from back to front.

Sure! You can do a shed roof. The one side more exposed to rain will be fine with a good lime plaster on the wall.
