Rather than a steel strip, just counter sink screws for the door magnets. For strong black screws try drywall screws. Nice work BTW.

Great pantry and practical use with the roller door. Another option would be to use the roller door but have it slide inside the lid or on top in a single line so that the opening is almost full height. Cheers 🍻

Very nice indeed. Since you mentioned that there are magnets in the bottom of the tombour door and I would suggest there being a bit of a lip to the bottom compartment of the pantry garage, then I think that it would be a good idea to add a shallow lip. Not only would it help keep the door closed, but also help prevent heavier items (canned food and the like) from hitting the door whilst in motion. It would also help to define the line when stocking the pantry so that you know that you can always close the door without having to re-adjust items so that the door will close. I hope that makes sense.

Stumbled acrid your video build for your canopy storage drawers, kitchen build and pantry etc and love your presentation style and details in the videos. Hiding the screws by screwing from behind the timber would give a more seamless look, but love what you've done with those 25mm square joiners and some diy talent. Definitely save paying plenty, they look pretty good and do the job nicely

Needs an elastic net or something that can be easily clipped in and out to stop everything flying everywhere I think, otherwise it looks good. A couple of countersunk cuplike holders for jars would be good too.

Is the roller door long enough that you can mount the roller door housing at the back? If it is, you can simply extend the guide track along the ceiling of your pantry cupboard with a gentle curve at the front to connect it to the guide track you installed. Alternatively, can you use the roller door without the housing? By creating a guide track along the top of your cupboard and connecting this to the track you fitted (via a curved guide/track). That way, the roller door housing is at the rear (or non-existent) and won't block part of your top shelf. 🤔
@HammerRocks
@HammerRocks 3 ай бұрын
I don't think it's a housing. But I get what you mean. Have it roll up at the rear or just go horizontal along the top.
@explorebound
@explorebound 3 ай бұрын
Hey mate, good suggestion there! The door isn't 'long' enough mount the coil pieces anywhere else, but I could potentially do away with it and just run extra tracking along the roof so the door essentially remains in it's extended state, just on the roof. I'll see how it goes for now but might be worth revisiting in future 🙂
@fatmanoverlanding
@fatmanoverlanding 3 ай бұрын

Lookin' mint. I assume the shelf is 'upside down' so those sections stop things from moving around? Yeah, a metal strip at the bottom for the magnets to 'lock' too would be a way to keep it closed and offer a small lip to stop things sliding out freely.

Jesus mate get a patent on that design. I can guarantee some actual fabrication companies will be knocking this door kind of set up out in the future. Wicked design. The connect it stuff... is that sturdy and tough, mostly the corner joiners. Seems to be a good way to knock stuff up for the more basic diy person. Does it stand up to off road punishment?
@explorebound
@explorebound 3 ай бұрын
Haha thanks mate!! Regarding the Connect-it, it depends how it's used. If there's long runs that aren't supported and 'move around' over corrugations etc then the joiners eventually wear out and break (I've had this happen). But if used correctly in a rigid design I've found them to be very strong and long lasting. 🙂

Nice and clean job Danial. Like that vinyl on the inside mate. Fantastic. When is was thinking about how to hold the roller door down Maybe a strip of magnet tape will do the trick for you. They used that on our fly screens on all the windows in the house and still going strong after 30 years

@explorebound
@explorebound 3 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! Haha I was expecting to get a few comment about that and you're spot on! My hope is that the front rail of the support frame will stop things shuffling forwards and leaning on the door, and the middle section of the frame will hopefully keep things in the front section of the pantry so my partner who's a bit shorter can reach those items. 🙂

@explorebound

Looks mint mate i might have missed the reason if you said it but why did you put the aluminium frame on top of the shelf rather than underneath?
@explorebound
@explorebound 3 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! That's for two reasons, the first is to stop contents shuffling forwards and leaning on the roll-up door while we're driving along, and the second is that the middle beam will hopefully keep contents in the front half to make it easier for my partner to reach because she's a bit shorter than me haha.

Why did you put the black frame on top of that middle shelf and not underneath it.

That's to prevent items shuffling forward and 'leaning' on the pantry door while I'm driving along, and the middle support keeps key items in the front section making them easier to reach (hopefully haha). 🙂
