I love the early mornings too, Carissa. The world smells fresh and clean,and the breeze is still cool on your face. You can hear the birds singing before the noise and heat of the day drown them out. Watching your beautiful videos brings me that same sense of peace. Thank you for bringing us all into your world each week. ❤️🇨🇦

Good Morning friends, this made my saturday morning coffeetime so much more enjoyable. I definately reccommend a SelfPropelled mower. I have had many on large pieces of property, i finally have a riding mower. But if the mower is in your budget at a point, set it up Full High. That works best on tall grass. Schedule the days so you are consistent during the Spring and summer till it dries & dies out. Then maintain as needed. My current land i have on a 2-3 day mow. Or else it gets to laborsome on the mower. Its not so bad, easier on your back too. Be blessed 🙏🙏🙏, good to see the insulation covered. If you plan on using the OSB as a Final cover, keep it well off the ground, moisture will crumble the lower edges. Its usually used underneath Roofing or Steel Siding. only 74F in Idaho today, little cooling trend. ❄️❄️🥶😁😁

Hi Guys, great progress under difficult conditions. So glad to see you have the polystyrene covered quickly. Not knowing what further layers you have planned for the walls can I offer the following tip! The OSB needs waterproofing and sealing to stop warping and protect it from damp/rain. I know you are not in the wettest country but it will still need to be done. Looking at the bottom of the walls you definitely need to get the bottom edges well treated no matter what to protect fro rising moisture and splashback rain. Personally I would use a epoxy resin coating or at a minimum silicon wash. regardless as to whether you plan to wrap in a membrane and clad. Dare I suggest that particular task is more important than the floor. The floor area is effectively covered from the weather and is a job you could do on wet days. Great videos as always.
@FrankieOffGrid3 ай бұрын
Great advice! Thank you! Do you think a polymer paint would do the job?
@jaapklok55603 ай бұрын
It indeed is very important to protect the OSB boards from any moisture! I found OSB boards harder to paint then normal wood, it seems to absorb a lot of paint. Is cladding the OSB not an option for you? You could always ask "uncle Nick" some advise? Keep up the good work, enjoying every single one of your videos!

I love the cabin. It’s coming on amazing. I genuinely can’t wait to see it all finished. I’m like a kid waiting on Xmas day coming 😂 As someone who used to distribute these boards a few years ago, I’d strongly recommend using either plank of wood, a fence board or even just a pallet board to cover where the joints are & run some exterior sealant around the edge. These joints between the boards are where water gets into the boards & then they start to swell & decompress the flakes that make up the board. Also, an annual coat of exterior gloss will help it last a lot longer too. Even more so if it’s an oil based paint. Keep up the great work guys. Take care

So I have a question. What will you clad the OSB with and will you close off around the bottom of the cabin to keep out critters and help moderate the temps? If you do that make sure to add vents so air can circulate.
