@Badr Ahmed He probably assumes you're already have a PC capable of playing whatever game you want to stream. My brother mostly streams older games on emulators and just recently set up his EasyCap (or rather I set it up since it ended up being a major pain in the ass) so he can stream Melee. He could probably stream some newer games at lower resolutions. Linus also didn't mention internet which can be a problem or capture cards. What kind of internet to get is too complex a question for this type of video, it depends on how many people are using the network, what kind of quality you want, and what's available in your particular situation. In our case we live in a condo and the best options available for internet are not all that great because even if we paid for a higher tier we basically bandwidth share with everyone in the complex plus a ton of fast food restaurants that are almost certainly on the same cable networks (with cable and phone internet you actually share with everyone on the same main cable or phone line as you). We also don't have the option for fiber here (fiber is faster and more direct which reduces latency but it requires fiber network lines which are often unavailable for condo/apartment buildings). Capture cards are also complex because it depends on what you're capturing, what kind of OS support you need, and what quality you're willing to put up with. Easy cap can do 480p from composite or a little bit higher from S-Video but getting it to work on Windows 10 involves buying the unit (my brother got his years ago and just never set it up), finding out what the actual hardware for the unit is (there's like 10 different variations), and finding (if you're lucky) compatible firmware. Even then you may have to do some modifications to keep the dang thing cool because most if not all of them will cook themselves.

A lot of people mention OBS, but it would be cool to see and learn what it does on a basics level. And something for those of us who can't afford Premiere, but want to make content and don't know what to use or do. A "Software for Media Creation 101" of sorts, y'know? Lots of people stuck at home wondering what to do with themselves right now. Myself included. This was excellent, thank you. *Oh I'm just concerned with streamers who create/receive a ton of drama, then tell biased stories to their fans to convince them to harass their opposition on-stream. These last few years, it has caused a lot of issues for a lot of streamers, and the "Just leave if you can't handle it bro" argument really offers nothing for the Streamer. When this drama spreads across social media into Their daily lives yet they KEEP streaming it's because it's their source of Income, and they keep putting themselves in front of a camera for people to comment hate or call them names, and the Streamer keeps saying things back, the drama continues until some authority like Twitch has to use ITS power to delete the Streamer's channels/content and force them off, to the detriment of the streamer's mental health, OR the streamer takes a leave of absence due to all the pain they received along the way.* I would prefer it if a new streamer never has to endure such pain, so I'd rather they learn how to communicate with "social etiquette" than wait until something truly cruel, dramatic and life-altering happens to them.*

I've been using a clamp light with LED bulb and parchment paper diffuser for WebEx conferences during work-from-home. An old desk lamp bounced off a wall on my other side adds a fill light. One thing to note: if you do use incandescent/halogen as mentioned, they will get quite hot and wax paper may not be the best diffuser depending on how close to the bulb you attach it. Parchment paper for cooking works just as well and it's meant to withstand oven temps so as long as it's not sitting directly on a hot halogen for extended periods it may be preferable to wax paper. Also, if you're more concerned with conferencing than streaming, a headset (even the old wired cell phone one you had from before OEMs lost their collective mind) will make a huge difference in avoiding background noise and preventing echo in conferences. People who use laptop mic/speakers are the bane of my existence and even for recording or streaming a headset mic has a better pickup pattern than the one on your phone, webcam, or laptop.

LED light is awful. LEDs are only bright at the source. They don't actually cast much light at all. The worst option to use for any lightsource. I have near perfect color vision, in some cases I also have hyper sensitivity to overly vibrant colors, namley the raw RGB. LED lights piss me the hell off. If you have a lighting rig with all the same color gels. I can tell you when one is even slightly burned out and off color. Slightly as is I have yet to find lighting director agree with me. Intro, I'm on board with 100%. I built a gaming/ streaming PC for about $600. I used my phone as my webcam for a bit before buying the c920s you mention. I ended up rigging up my trouble light from the garage for lighting. I'm looking to upgrade my processor shortly as soon as I get my first twitch payout. Love seeing the real world point of view.

If you put a white shower cap over your clamp light, it works as a pretty good diffuser. Make sure you're using an LED bulb though because a standard bulb will melt through the plastic.

I've been using IP Webcam for a couple of months now to record stuff. Put your phone in DND mode. Getting notifications from some Apps (WhatsApp in my case) will freeze the video output from IP Webcam. Also, you can turn the display of your phone off while using IP Webcam for less heat and battery drain.

One thing that linus forgot: You need to have a decent internet connection.. Preferably above 25 Mbps. if not too bad for you. *Edit* why 25? remember you are not the only one using the internet in your house. unless you are paying for your own internet

25 Mbps UPLOAD
@aaronmorrow49574 жыл бұрын
Be sure to get and one with a good upload speed as well! A 25mbps plan that only has a 2mbps upload is gonna suck. Look for at least 10mbps upload so twitch can stream at 6mbps and still have some headroom.
@gorkskoal93154 жыл бұрын
so don't live in the US. where 100megz downz is good en stufz and 56.6k upz iz teh bestz. Meen while just about about every other country is going to gigabyte speed.
@mechanicallydev45364 жыл бұрын
Actually you don't... to stream at 720p 30fps Twitch recommends using 3000kbps of bitrate, so about 3mbps of upload. Since you need it to be stable, I would recomend at least 5mbps of upload. Even to stream at 1080p60 at 8000kbps bitrate (the max bitrate that twitch accepts) you wouldn't need 25mbps of upload.

In all reality and you are trying to make your hardware work without affording any upgrades, If you use a Intel CPU, using QuickSync encoding is a massive plus, should get nearly no performance hit while being able to stream/encode video. If not both amd and Nvidia have their own Hardware encoding methods that shouldnt affect performance much at all. Most lag from streaming on lower end systems come from the user trying to software encode (x264) from their processor which is just usually just not strong enough.
@pravda96464 жыл бұрын
...well, a good CPU. That's sort of expensive but if you're planning to be a streamer you gotta make money somehow, and your CPU will pay for itself
