Lower section of the mast has a bend to allow for the main sail luff curve ,the bow of the lower mast section faces forward, and the sail rings, lose them ,just use line to tye on sail

Could not have finished this assembly without this video. The instructions book that comes with besides being inadequate is so small I could not read it. Of major note, there are 2 (red black) wires that were not plugged into my receiver. Without seeing these in this video I would have been lost for good. Just need to find a ballast as I believe mine was stolen possibly at a customs level as it is rather deadly looking.

I took some measurements and the width seems to be the limiting factor of 1-1/4”. The battery pack fits across the boat. The space is about 1-1/4”wide (front to back) x 3-3/4” long (beam direction) x 3/4” high. I think you could use a 6.4 volt pack but only a 1200 mah. Of course you would have to do some wire modification.

Thank you for posting this video! How long do the batteries last? Can you tell when they are getting low and you need to bring it in?
@OconeeSatch
@OconeeSatch Жыл бұрын
I’ve sailed for hours, multiple times, using the regular alkaline batteries and haven’t seen a deteriorating in signal strength. I’m not sure if the transmitter will beep or flash when the batteries are low, but I suspect you will see a deteriorating in response. If you find the boat slow to respond I’d sail it closer to you.

The 1 meter eclipse is the same as the hurricane,and compass, made in china buy a sail boat and first thing you have to do is rebuilt it, parts are very chinsy, so good luck 😮😮

I live on a cove on a large lake. The boat sails well. I prefer expert mode because it reacts better to commands. It brings out a crowd. Sailing is tricky here because have trees all around and we need calm water I actually have two boats and we “match race”. Best place would be a man made pond if it’s deep enough. Good luck and happy sailing!!!

Very nice video Simon. Having just purchased a Hurricane, I'm grateful for your help in assembling the boat. I had the same trouble with the long mast section being slightly tight on one end, so it wouldn't "snap" onto the mast spreader fitting. I just took a small jewelers file and dressed the inside of the tube just a bit and then it went together just fine. It's my first RC sailboat kit, so I can't speak to whether it's a nice kit or not, but it seems well made and reasonably well thought out. I'm anxious to get it in the water! It being so tall, do you have a system for getting it out the door and into your car?

Thanks for the useful comments. This was my first video and I did it by myself. I’m glad it was useful. This is a good kit. I have had 4 other sailboats this being the largest. I live on a lake so I can walk down to the water avoiding obstructions and keeping the bow (front) into the wind. It is a handful. I also have a Tacoma so if I need to transport, I lay it down in the bed on some padding. FYI I found it hard to turn the boat in beginner mode and keep it on expert except when my grandchild controls it. Good luck and have fun.

I’m moved and now I have to transport my two sailboats to a small lake. This is how I do it in my Tacoma truck. They are laid out diagonally in the bed secure with a string and keep the tail gate down. With two boats I made a shelf with two 2x4s and wood to place the second boat over the first. I close the tonneau cover.

Hi Simon just got the same boat but I'm having problems with fitting the rudder like you said with your first one. How did you manage to do it in the end kind regards pieter
@OconeeSatch
@OconeeSatch Жыл бұрын
I first tried to push the rudder in from both directions, noting the angle it was going. I then carefully tried to align the rudder axil with the other bearing and used pressure and rotation to get them aligned. If that doesn’t word I found a slightly smaller rod to push through and then pushed the rudder through. Make sure you work the rudder back and forth, so it’s not hard to rotate. I hope this helps.

Very helpful thanks . Should there be an aerial for the transmitter. Mine looks like yours , just a flat plastic cap on top which will come off and out pops about 2” of thin bendy plastic cable.
@OconeeSatch
@OconeeSatch 4 ай бұрын
No (whip) antenna needed. This transmitter operates at a higher frequency than those of yesteryear. The caps on my transmitter were secure. I’d put the wire back as you found it.

I have a Tacoma truck with a tonneau cover. I lay the boat on its side on moving blankets and secure with string. I leave the tailgate down and cover with the tonneau. I was prepared to remove the keel which is pretty easy but didn’t need to.

in your opinion, is the rudder adequate, or could it be a bit broader, I have a similar yacht and needed to increase the width of the rudder to get decent turning rate. And add extra ballast to the ballast weight. cheers.
@OconeeSatch
@OconeeSatch 10 ай бұрын
My sail boat was hard to sail in the beginner mode. Make sure you are on the expert mode on your transmitter. I found that this mode increased the rudder and sail actions. One can always add to the rudder, just keep it balanced. Ie. Add to front and back if possible.

I've got this same boat and I'm a total newcomer. Mine is no longer pairing thought, haven't even had a chance to sail it. Wondering if you've had anything similar or if you're experienced at rebinding them? I can't find anything helpful online. Thanks!

It got confused once when I didn’t turn on the receiver (in the boat) on first. 1) Make sure all your batteries are In correctly. 2) with the transmitter close, turn on the receiver ( in the boat)). The red light should start flashing. 3) Turn on the transmitter. It will start flashing until it “pairs” with the transmitter. Once “paired” both red lights will stay on.

With all rc products,you only bind the reciever to the transmitter once.after that you always turn the transmitter on first then power the reciever.then to turn off,switch reciever off first then the transmitter.
