Protecting painted areas that can get stone chipped or often get dirty from chain lube etc.

So jealous that you are 5'9". I had to quit karting at 17 years old when i hit 6'6". Now at 6'8" i have no hope of getting back in a kart. I am leaving it up to my 12 year old daughter to show our family karting potential
