Thanks for making this video! During the pandemic, I moved from a major city with a robust scene to a small rural town. The major city closest to me (70 miles away) has a smaller scene than my previous one, and I don't quite feel a part of it yet...One of the issues (aside from pandemic concerns) is the long drive. It's close enough to go to some events, but far enough away for the drive to be a pain in the ass. My town is a small college town, and I have seen a handful of goth or alternative folks here. There really isn't much to do here, and I'd love to see a small all-ages goth/alt event. I've thought about starting a small night here, but I've never done anything of the sort. I appreciate the tips and encouragement!

First, i loved this vid! Very informative and a great example of how to build a good scene with good intentions. Thank you all! Has there been a revisiting of this podcast? So much has changed with the attitude and approach with building a scene. In San Diego, the more prominent events are riddled with sex/drug trafficking, predatory/exploiting, cliques/favoritism, and a lack of amazing bands. There are also a lot of sabotaging and hypocrisy with putting out an image vs being about good music. If you ever revisit this subject, id love to join. I have a lot of testimonies from people who no longer participate in the scene and former employees of corrupt event promoters.

As someone who is an ex-pentecostal I felt DJ Kellya's story, I grew up in a very strict far right church and I've always loved music, despite how much they hated the idea of non-religious music and dancing. I only really got into goth somewhat recently (around late 2019) since I've questioned and eventually left the religion (although I've always liked alternative music in general). There's not much of a scene where I live, but sometime I want to move to a more active area or take a road trip out to see some bands.

Good talk indeed, wish we had a better goth scene in Oklahoma, since some people still think we are country living country music and apparel loving state not true, i love being goth n the music it represents

Nice to see DJ Kelly A! I am a new follower and didn't know you were in PGH. I was very on the fringes of the community back in my early 20s, but can't wait to get back into things. Love the podcast and can't wait to see more of your content
