Imho, size 5+ weapons should really start significantly outperforming smaller ones in terms of effective range. My reasoning there is to create a better engagement space once capital ships get involved, as I do not feel large and capital ships should be engaging each-other at the same ranges as fighters. It isn't sensible in both game and realistic terms. it should be simple enough to tune the tracking on these large turrets or adjust projectile velocities so that these ships aren't just sniping fighters out at extreme ranges, since fighters are already small targets that move much faster than what those guns should be designed to take down. It also helps further flesh out the difference in role between fighters and large combat vessels that are designed to fight against other large combat vessels. I think s3 guns and turrets are fine at that 2.5-3.5 km max engagement range window, but something like s6+ guns should probably be running closer to like 7-10km imo (maybe even longer for s8+ such as the main turrets on a Javelin or the spinal cannon on an Idris. What are your general thoughts?

Yeah but Ion players never think about if it's fun to fight back against an Ion. It's fire support now. Play it with a buddy in a gladius. You'll get the killshot every time.

@@luistigerfox I think you're going to run into the exact same issues the ION did and the same thing will happen. There are videos on yt explaining why it's SO HARD to balance snipers in fps games and it applies here as well. If you have lots of range you should have higher velocity to actually hit what you're trying to hit. If you have a fast, hard hitting, accurate round people are going to use them against low hp targets. People will now complain about the new OP weapon, then it is nerfed in speed or accuracy, therefore making it useless at it's intended purpose. Or some bs reason is invented to justify why if you aim at an arrow the shot for some reason will never be able to hit, or magically do almost no damage. And at that point why not switch to the equivalent of an lmg (cannon) or other slightly less accurate gun that has higher rof and still hits hard? or why not use a repeater or shotgun to do lots of damage at close range? In game if a gun is good at sniping it's op, if it's bad at sniping it's overlooked because there are other weapons that do any job better. irl if you aim a m102 howitzer directly at a person instead of arcing it into a building, it's going to vaporize that person and everything around them, not magically do the same damage a .22lr would. But in a game that's not balanced or fair so something has to be done.

I used to use a Saber Comet as my daily, some time ago, with all Mass Drivers, it's was CRAZY. It was so BRUTAL. lol. It's a VERY hard-hitting loadout. 100%. IF you know how to use it. If the Mass drivers are coming back into popularity AND they haven't been NERFED TO DEATH.. I might have to check them out again. Thanks for the video.

Very cool. Plus, I always loved the Mustang Delta. I know it's essentially a jacked up starter ship but I love how it looks and enjoy flying it. Seeing its stealth abilities leveraged to the point of taking down a HH is a revelation though, I wouldn't have thought it possible.

Yep, stealth kill the HH is a test, it takes a long time, but against smaller ships is going to be fast and effective.

I am really enjoying all your Sabre build videos. that's my main ship too for bounties. Because of the stealthiness of the ship and my second favorite ship is the eclipse, I was curious if you knew how big of missiles can you put on the Sabre, and then use it like the eclipse for HRTs. The eclipse really only serves one purpose, and doesn't have missiles or enough fire power to stay and fight and so It serves only one purpose. but what if you would turn the Sabre into a hybrid? As big of missiles as you can put on but still have guns to firefight with when needed, all while being almost as stealthy as the eclipse

The missiles for the sabre are limited but versatile, you can mount 16 size1 or 8 size2 or 4 size3.

Ok Foxy here are the Ghost numbers with 1 stealth cooler, all missle racks removed, and No shields. With 5 of those guns. Engines off the heat is at 5991, cross section 6984, and ir 782. I can not for the life of me get the heat to drop. I was unsussessfull at the sniping attempt. Engines on It is all the same but my IR is at 3849. Maybe if I swap the quantem out not sure. But my heat is to damned high. I am assuming stealth on it, is still bugged

Oh, don't even bother with the ghost, it is not only bugged, you actually have a plus 13% detection range instead of 40% deduction. Until CIG fix that ship, it is currently out of commission for stealth ships

People understimate these charge up weapons in team play. It's fire support. With precision mode, you get this incredible ability to stand off and hammer targets that aren't paying attention to you because they are brawling the Hornet with M4As. The Ions is monstrous if they aren't paying attention it.

This is kind of how the game worked when I first started playing, but it was for totally different reasons. You could park like 10k from an enemy and snipe them away. You could do it with almost any ship back then.

Tana can have 2 more size 2 guns but has a much larger IR signature. Thing is when you aggro them they go into nav mode, meaning they would potentially drop their shields. I will probably test that sooner or later, Tana has become pretty expensive its now almost 2 million. Not to mention Tana can have 20 size 2 missiles.

ATM the Ghost can run a size 4 sniper weapon. C-788 ballistic. No charge up, and 900 m/s. But the fire rate is 50. So 5 rounds in bound before the first one hits.

Eclipse has only 2 size 2 guns. Would be a good deal less overall DPS limiting how high a bounty level you would be expecting to complete. MRT? maybe lucky and get a low hull HP HRT?

Yep, the MM messed it up, when you decouple in SCM mode, it will slow down to SCM speed from boost speed, one solution is use NAV mode but turn off your QT drive, then use decoupled

@@cpt_foxyloxy Looks like the Talon might also work for this. Looks like there is a size 4 ballistic cannon the C-788 with range of 6525 and according to erkul you can get the talon IR down to 6192. That would give you 333 worth of undetected range and the cannons have 100 ammo.

@@LashlayDS9 Dunno just saw it had long range on erkul. I haven't ever done any testing with it. Not sure how it used to be but they have changed a lot of these up this patch so might be worth testing it.

Yes, Sabre and Sabre comet are the same, just skill difference, so it will work on normal sabre.

F7A mk2 has 2 size 4 hard points on the winds, so you can't put size 2 on it, and besides, your stealth level must be below the max firing range as well in order to remain undetected, don't think the mk 2 can do that, but the ghost can once its stealth is fixed.

Ok hear me out. Eclipse with 2x strifes to snipe small targets from stealth, and 3x s9's for large targets...

FYI - I literally tried it last night. The eclipse with all grade A stealth components can creep up to 3.5km with shields turned off. No need to unequip shields or turn off weapons. Just stealth EM mode and suppress IR mode. You have 80 rounds of strife2 for each gun. This was enough for 2x vlrt, 2x lrt, and 1x mrt. It didn't have enough ammo for HRT+. So you can do a couple lrt's (sneak up and snipe at 5k just like this video), and 3x ERT with the s9's. It was glorious. Stealth is good again!

You can't, but it's just a skinned Sabre with a different stock loadout. Sabre is 4.5 mil at New Deal in Lorville
