I am returning to model railroading in my latter years since retirement and my goodness the hobby has changed. I used to model Marklin 3 rail in the late fifties and early sixties in the UK when it was so much simpler, but it proved diffiuclt to continue as the family were growing up. Thus here I am at 67 starting from scratch to build my first layout in 50 years based on a branchline in the US Pacific northwest in the mid 1950s (where I worked for several years in the 1980s). I've just viewed Richard's Everard Junction sidings extension project and have found it an excellent tuition, and dare I say it, entertainment. I've learnt so much from these videos and I would love to meet him sometime. Keep it up you are an inspiration to us all Michael

FANTASTIC WORK! All of it. I was a BR Signalman until injured, but I liked the attention to detail regarding or around the signalbox; the rodding and walkway etc. I even wondered if your attention to detail would have included simulating wiring/cabling to/from any semaphore signalling, or was it to be all colour light? hehehe. Now I'll tell you something funny. one tiny portion of your train running towards the end made me have to double take. Because it made me think clearly of my Home Station in my time as a Rlf Signalman; based at Poulton-le-Fylde; as the shunter approached the Cabin. Like a flashback. It takes a pretty good model to do that mate; well done. Jack.

Hands down, yours is the best -- technically and artistically -- model railroad I have ever had the pleasure of watching grow from its inception. Often it takes a moment to realize that I'm watching a model railroad operation rather than that of a prototypical railroad; realistic speeds, spot-on sound effects and, of course, the superb scenery. I have a casual interest in model railways, but don't own a layout myself. I'm also not a fan of modern stock, preferring something like branch line steam. But having said that I find your video's educating, entertaining and love watching them, and they do take me back to that period. I used to park up at lunch times in an old goods yard just outside Luton, and watch NWSE trains go past. The yard still had an operational Redland depot where a self discharging train with rakes of hoppers would unload, often hauled by a class 56, 60 or 66. You have captured that atmosphere in your layout, and I really look forward to watching the next video.

All looking very cool. Shame Oxford don't do more 80's vehicles, like a mk1 Sierra, mk2 cavalier, mk2 Granada, mk4/5 cortinas, there were shed loads of them around in the 80's. The Mk1 consul restoration looks pretty sweet, bet that didn't come cheap for the owner. All the best Howard.

Hi I want to start model railway again this year but again still dont know where too put it trying to get my parents to put a floor in the attic as well as lights. As before i had it in the conservatory but it was too cold in winter and gets hot in the summer if we get one in uk. Lastly i dont know what shape i want my layout to be do you have any suggestions on it also on what board to get and what size? Thx Im 12 and trains are cool :) I got a intercity 125 last year but my track was so small it looked too big.
@EverardJunction8 жыл бұрын
+VortexHDGaming A spare room in the house is the best spot for a layout but most don't have that luxury. If you can go for a layout in the loft. It will still be cold in winter and hot in summer but will give you the most space for a layout. When building the layout go for a square or rectangle shape that follows the edge of the room. Building a large table in the middle of a room is problematic as you have a load of space in the middle thats difficult to fill. Hope that helps.
@joeturner15976 жыл бұрын
When I saw those signs I thought "Bloody typically British. Buy a new house next to a railway line that has been there over a hundred years, then complain about the noise." We had that very situation next to the turn back siding at Bedwyn.

I am loving this. why not made the sign in the car park all rusted? as in most cases they were as it was only a shunting yard. would be cool to have an inspection coach and stick it at the back of a siding and weather it up
