A few quick points; 1.) great looking piece. You always do good work 2.) you are very fortunate to have such a well equipped shop. Yes, I am jealous 3.) you said “super” 12 times in a 13 minute video

Siiick! I see a lot of the tips and processes that I've picked up from you, in this build. The chamfer on the back panel (a-la your drawer bottoms). The inset doors like you did in the valchromat bar cabinet! You've compounded these skills and developed a flow, man! Great video and the finished piece is phenomenal!

@emilylindstrom7246 жыл бұрын
I like everything about it except the door pulls. Personal preference, but everything else has the pretty edge banding and those, front and center, have the exposed plywood edge. Suggestion: slightly bigger hole, fill with a solid wood plug matching the edge banding, then drill another 1/2 inch diameter smaller hole in that = edge banded pull hole. Or just fill any gaps in the plywood edge and paint it a solid color, could even be something crazy like bright turquoise if you wanted to play up the mid century modern vibe.

Another awesome build Jonny! I'm getting overwhelmed just thinking about trying to manage that. Great piece, I like the overall style and your idea on how to attach the pieces. I have a question, how difficult do you think it would be to "edge-band" the pulls with a circular walnut piece?. I was thinking of cutting a walnut disk to the hole dimension and, before attach it, drill a inner hole in that disk. Once glued a chamfer could be added.
@Thom41236 жыл бұрын
Hey Johnny Awesome work the edge banding really paid off, kinda framed out the whole piece but not in a way of sticking out it really makes it look like it’s all solid hardwood. I also wanted to say great job in pointing out how long some jobs take and if I had to apply finish by hand I’d still be applying finish lmao. But I’m not sure, did you use any safety brackets from wall to the credenza. Only reason why I even said something is with the little one coming it will be awhile but I know our child would love to climb. No disrespect meant. Till next video take care buddy.

This turned out fantastic. I have a question about the curved piece. You clamped the edge banding to the template, I believe. Did you let that piece totally dry before gluing it on? Are you able to glue something that's wet? Or does it adhere better when dry? Just curious. Great work! Thank you.

Where do you pick up "good" pure bond plywood? The only place near me that seems to sell it is Home Depot, and they way they store it ensures it is going to be severely warped by the time I get it home.

I get mine at Home Depot for the most part, but I get the full sheets of Walnut Purebond at my local lumber dealer. I've never had an issue with the Purebond at HD, but you're not the first person I've heard who's had an issue. Guess I've got good HDs in my area!

Another nice build! Fantastic! What's the door style called - slab? I like how it actually "sink" into the frame and create a unified flat surface. Looks better than shaker style. Will it look good in cabinets, hum... BTW, is there any other way to purchase the plywood? HD charges $55 for shipping which double the cost per panel. it is a deal breaker :(
@craftedworkshop6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! Not sure what the door style is called, I believe it’s just an inset door. I definitely like it though, nice and clean. As far as HD, that’s a bummer! I’ve found the Walnut Purebond at my local lumber dealer as well, but that’ll depend on your location.
@tripod5566 жыл бұрын
What grade plywood are you using? The purebond at my local Home Depot is C3 and really not suitable for this type of furniture.
@SeanFoushee6 жыл бұрын
Great build and love the walnut plywood. I know you've used PureBond a lot in the past, have you had any issues with 3/4" sheets warping after cutting them down to size? I bought a couple of sheets for the first time at my local Home Depot and both warped the day after I cut them down. I love their use of non-formaldehyde glue, so I'm hoping I was just unlucky with the first two sheets of their product I've bought. #bringbackthesquat

I haven't had that issue with thicker stuff warping on me. I'd return it and get another sheet!
