The safety strap is in case the power goes out while the magnet is holding the drill on a wall ect

I agree having a Mag Drill is awesome. I just bought a twin of your Vevor drill. The chuck on mine has a taper arbor. It has 0.001" run out (dial indicator) on the chuck body just below the chuck key hole. A chucked piece of 3/8" drill rod had 0.002" run out. I was very pleased. I only use it with annular cutters with coolant from the provided reservoir. I made a jig similar the one you saw in the Fireball video on my mill. I'm using the jig to drill my welding table that has a 5/8" thick top. I use a removable home made bushing in a 1" hole in the jig to locate the bit. The home made bushing is removed after locating the bit so I it doesn't have to be hardened and don't have to change cutters. I'm approaching 200 holes, out of 525, and it's going strong. The speed control loop is slow to respond, but with constant force on an annular cutter running coolant it cuts non stop through the 5/8" thick top in about 20 seconds. sale fro I wouldn't have a mag base drill if it hadn't been available on the Vevor website for just under $160.00. I couldn't resist that!

I appreciate that your sponsored content is still relevant to the channel. Yes it's essentially a commercial, but it's for something that viewers could be interested in, not a video game or a green drink.

Don't compare your project to what Fireball Tool does, your video is what the average person will or can do, his video's are "Hey, look how much money I have, you'll never have what I have!". This was a great video

This video is a great demonstration of how it's beneficial to use something for a couple years while you think about how it could be better, then when you make or modify The Thing it ends up better and more planned out as a result

My kid bought a mag drill after welding school, that was 4 years ago, he landed jobs for freight companies that need custom dollies for huge equipment, as well as commercial Canopy bases that were custom made onsite.

Seems like a decent tool. All of these Mag drills seem as though they really should have been geared lower, or have been built with a 2 speed box in them. Also, speaking of Fireball Tool; just watched his newest video about heat distortion during welding and fixture tables. I agree with him completely. However, most people don't have 11,000 dollars laying around to spend on one of his 4.5x8.5 welding tables. Even the smallest version is 1500 dollars. Anyway, cool video.

I wonder if you can secure this mag drill to a base, and mill those parts you milled in this video, using this mag drill? For a second, it looked like that's what you were doing with it. I know a lot of people would jump to the conclusion that you can't do that, but it would be interesting to see!

Great design there Jeremy. I love it when you can get all the accessories and storage for a particular task into one space like that. Saves a lot of wasted steps, and time wasted searching for e.g. clamps. Had to laugh about the "should minimise comments about weld splatter on tanks" - I love it when youtubers take creative anti-troll measures like that 😁

Apparently you aren't supposed to use the magnet for more than 3 hours at a time, because you will burn it up. Heard that on another video for these drills, and figured I'd add that tidbit of info here for you.

Consider a Weldon chuck so you can use a good variety of annular cutters.
@JeremyMakesThings11 ай бұрын
I should have mentioned- the spindle takes 3/4” Weldon shanks. I was tempted to throw an endmill in to see if I could spot face with it.
@jimurrata678511 ай бұрын
So, there's some type of adapter to 1/2-20 for the drill chuck? Nice fixture table! 👍
@JeremyMakesThings11 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s a 3/4” Weldon shank to 1/2-20 arbor. I had the 1/2”-20 chuck on hand, so it was a quick swap. I’m sure a good chuck directly onto a Weldon shank (say with a a Jacob’s taper) would perform even better, but this was adequate.
