Building a motorcycle. // Episode 1 Honda CB550

In this video series I will show you how I build a motorcycle, particularly a cafe racer. The base bike is the very popular Honda CB550. In this episode I will go over things like disassembly of the cb550 engine and prepping the frame for fabrication.
Building motorcycles can seem complicated from the outside looking in. My goal is to create content that not only breaks down the process of building your own bike, but to create a video series that is entertaining and easy to watch.
In future videos I will show how to weld on the rear loop, cafe racer seat fabrication, how I source parts online, lowering and modifying motorcycle suspension, choosing surface finishes, motorcycle paint and body work, motorcycle wiring and electronics, carburetor tuning, dyno testing and so much more.

early 400f rearsets basically bolt on....yes, Honda 4 cyl 400cc early US spec years....befor they gave up and put American dang cowboy bars and cowboy footpegs, etc. Sweet site and build quality. cheers

I had a 74 my uncle left me and I took off the long forks and banana seat so I made it all original. Mackey paint job from 78 looks awesome!

Hey Kyle, i've been following your builds for the last 3-4 years! What grit did you use to finish sand the frame?

Thanks man, when I am ready to get it painted or powder coated I will go to a 400 grit. If it's getting powder coated then I really want to make sure none of the sanding or grinding marks are there because I won't use a skim coat or filler. I have made the mistake of thinking it was smooth enough and the PC would cover it. 400 grit is a safe bet.

Thank you! I’m shooting on a beat up Panasonic GH4 with a Meta Bones Speed Booster lol. I’ve been looking at the new A7 or the Canon R5 but they’re pricey 💸👊🏻
