Welcome to this video series building a custom Honda CB550 track-ready race bike! In this series, I will show you the step-by-step process of building a high-performance motorcycle that's built for the track.
We'll start by stripping down the Honda CB550 to its bare bones, and then I'll begin to upgrade the various components to make it track ready. From the suspension to the brakes to the engine, I'll cover all the modifications needed to turn this classic bike into a true track monster.
Throughout the build process, I'll share tips and tricks that will help you build your own custom motorcycle, whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-time builder. I'll also provide a detailed parts list and explain the benefits of each component I use.
If you're looking to build a custom motorcycle that's ready to dominate on the racetrack or on the street, then this video series is for you.

Hey Kyle always been a fan and subscriber since coming across your Amber II video! I genuinely appreciate the effort you put into pushing quality content on your builds and the result definitely showcases a reflection of your meticulous approach. I knew nothing about bikes let alone working with tools and you've inspired me to irresponsibly get my own SOHC in 2020 haha Wasn't easy at first scouring that forum full of 2006-2011 posts with expired photo links but seeing your approach into creating a build sheet looks way more streamlined than mine. Keep it up man

That’s awesome man! Lol, there is nothing worse than reading thru pages of a thread and you finally get to the part where they start to mention photos only to scroll down to that “Image no longer available” place holder. Glad you got into building dude 👊🏻

Excited to be able to Follow along with this build! Crazy how much goes into these builds that without the Insight can go unnoticed! Awesome job dude! We will have to get a build together in the future.

I love that you’re highlighting things like SOHC4 with Bwaller and Mriek showing in there. They are amazing. I hope you’re getting your head work done by Mriek. He does amazing work. I’m loving this series and can’t wait to see where it all goes.

Bwaller and Mriek! Those guys are awesome, so knowledgeable and I love reading their posts. I have reached out to Mriek for headwork for this build but we will see what his turnaround time and cost is. 👊

@@kylevara he’s not only a master at his work but he’s very reasonable. I’m planning on sending him a head this winter and getting wiseco 10:1 pistons. My crank is at cycle max getting lightened right now. Can’t wait to see where this build goes. Your videography is some of the best I’ve seen for bike building

I was curious if you plan on making your CAD model of the CB publically available. It would be very helpful to people like me. Even if it’s only available on your Patreon. I’d be happy to subscribe to get it.

@@rollypoli5570 It's on the forum "Search CB500 CAD". I've compared measurements and its pretty accurate to the real deal. The 550 is the same.

Just found your vids and wow. What an accomplishment on the video work alone. I just started to convert my '77 CB550F (my first bike) and filmed the before shots literally yesterday right before I stumbled across your KZbin channel after I found a pic of your bike on Pinterest. I thought of doing a series of the resto but after watching some of yours I think I may just bow before you haha. Just subscribed on your Patreon for $10/month because I know the amount of work that goes into producing this content. I love how your series shows the point of view from an artist's perspective, as well all the other valuable mechanical info. The build sheet alone is great help. Is there a template or site that you use for your flowchart? That's nice way of starting the brainstorm. I'm overwhelmed! Haha.

What welder do you recommend for a beginner? What welder do you use?
@kylevara
@kylevara 9 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delay! It really depends on your budget. When I got my first welder, I didn't have much budget at all. I got a cheap Tig DC welder and it only allowed me to weld thin Steel and Stainless steel only. It got me going and I learned how to lay down weld but in the end once I tried to turn around and sell the machine for a better one it was worth nothing. I now use a Everlast PowerTig 210 Ext, which is a great machine and allows me to weld any material I want. If welding is something that you know you will continue to do then go for a machine like the 210. It holds it value, is a professional level tool and doesn't limit you. Hope this helps!
