I live in Florida and haven't heard of a natural pool before. Probably because it would quickly looks more like a swamp than a pool. But I would still LOVE to have something like this in my yard. How cool that would be

One of the best videos I've seen. I'm planning on beginning to lay some drain tiling in mid February. Hoping I can get some water flowing better and dry out my ground enough to begin digging in May. I'm building a large clay bottom. I'm having a team come excavate but I'm going to contract goods, plumb, install, place and ultimately build everything. I've long wanted a pond but this came about unexpectedly. I had some turn of the century tiling collapse which subsequently led to backing up flow, drainage and now have a spring bubbling in my crawl space. I have a high water table atleast 3 artesian Wells and springs within a 1/4 mile. Where I'm digging my pond in fact has a deep which is why I must lay tiling to be able to build a sound dam. I'm a master fabricator by trade, by master I mean NASA and Lockheed Martin to name a couple, no dummy. I've also kept exotic animals my entire life including amphibians, Fancy Gokdfish, Saltwater and tropical fish so I have a solid understanding of filtration principals. I'm going clay bottom with an intake, 2 pumps for 18,000 GPH. I'm gonna build a similar elevated platform of earth about 3-2 ft to set up a bog that'll be 50x40 then go through a choke point, trickle make a couple spills then enter the main body. Im also going to have a main body 150x200 that kicks into a choke point and goes to 3-1 ft about 60x75 ft. My plan is to gravel it with river stone primarily. I might do some random boulders and will use boulders framing but my build is simply to large to feasibly buy that many tons of stone. I'm hoping to keep it under 50k, we shall see. 😆 So many videos offer music, nonsense, just show what matters and keep it short and sweet 😆 your video was really good and offered views and advice that is critical.

Is there a reason you used a liner instead of bentonite clay? My understanding is that bentonite lasts forever, but requires a more sloped pond bottom. Also, do you use a pump to circulate the water?

I think it will be 50% more than a regular swimming pool of similar size. The rock, gravel, sand, and liners is about 10K. The other supplies 5K. The labour 15K. And add profit and design? And then you have to factor in cost of living in your area. Just a wild guess since no one is answering this question.
@kookaichanda57177 жыл бұрын
i'd say 15K in Cancun; 150K in London. :-)
@harryjones2 жыл бұрын
@@kookaichanda5717 Actually just the rocks for this cost at least $10,000. Liner 5k plus. Labor 40k. I bet this pond sold for at least 80k. I guess 110k.
@kc33662 жыл бұрын
@@harryjones yeah, I bet you are right too. I know a guy built an elevator, just ground floor to upstairs. He paid 400k. Someone said it should be 100k. Another said 200k. The guy just shrugged.

Very very cool,beautiful pond Great video. I built a natural pond, my cement pond out of 2 in. thick concrete coated chain link and chicken wire in 2012 and has held up well. It is 32 ft wide 52 ft long and 11 ft deep in the deep part. the swim area is 16 ft wide x 52 ft long and is stair stepped from shallow to deep. Shallow sides with gravel and drain tile and water plants for water clarification. It is on the highest part of my property not a good idea to fill a pond with run off but I have a 30 ft x 72 ft high tunnel with a ditch dug on each side then lined with plastic sheeting and filled with gravel, then into a 4 in pipe and into the pond. Click on my icon and watch my video and you will see I have no problem filling the pond.
