They should add a MAIL route to earn extra dough and put cabooses to use. Easy to use the existing game mechanics a small dock & crane to load bags of mail and be delivered for $$ at other locations. Even limited to 5 bags at $10 each could keep the exploit rate at bay while still being enough to justify the stop and extra coin. Also fits the era as nearly every train also carried mail, people and food one way or another. Even if this doesn't make it into the game itself there is endless room for mods & extras down the line (pun intended :)

I thought of passenger trains for no reason but for fun
@VestedUTuber2 жыл бұрын
The game would need to have multiple towns and ideally a standard gauge transfer facility for mail to make sense. At the moment it only has a handful of industries. Mail was never carried from industry-to-industry, but rather town-to-town, and then distributed from the station's sorting office to its final destinations by individual carriers. As for cabooses, they already have a use and it's the same as in real-life. They allow for controlled braking to maintain coupler tension running downhill, and a place for crew to stay during long runs. Problem is that the game currently doesn't punish you for using a flatcar that way.
@IONATVS Жыл бұрын
There were mail cars (and mixed mail/luggage cars) mentioned among the rolling stock they’re considering adding, but haven’t figured out exactly how they want to do mail and passenger service yet, and I believe they’re focused on improving the base game engine before expanding the to that side of things
@ulrichkalber9039 Жыл бұрын
@@VestedUTuber there are industrys, when there are industrys there are workers. workers live somewhere. there ARE towns, around the industrys, they are just not represented in the game, so running passengers from industry to industry would be realistic.
@VestedUTuber Жыл бұрын
@@ulrichkalber9039 You wouldn't have mail pick-ups/drop-offs at the industries themselves. Eventually, if the towns are added, then it would make sense. But as the game is right now, everything's basically in a vacuum.

One thing I found VERY helpful with circle mode, when you set the degrees to 0 the track will lay perfectly straight. So there isn't any need to lay a bunch of switches or cross sections just to have a straight track. Love the work BTW!

The Erie Railroad had a massive yard in Kent ohio, my town, and it was almost like an epicenter for the railroad. It was almost a mile long and a quarter mile wide, and near the south end of the yard, it was curved. Granted it was straight in general, but it curved towards the end

@littlevinster22242 жыл бұрын
Loving the series! kAN from my experience, I found making good looking mountain lines is actually trickier than before. This is for 2 reasons. 1. The bridges need to be closer to the ground to place (regardless of visual height) so it is not easy to make valley passes. 2. Circle mode is great, but it made me aware of how tight some of the curves are (so I became self consious and therefore my track didn't have that same hug-the-mountain feel. My lines were all basically bridges running parallel to the mountain instead of against the mountain). Hope these are neglegable issues for you, as I would love to see some cool smelter/coal/iron lines!

My main save uses a curved "receiving" type yard for the trains to come in and drop their cars to send the engine off to service. The yard job comes to get a train and take it over the hump into the classification yard. I've been building up tracks of individual load types so that when I am ready to take a train somewhere, all I have to do is have a yard crew assemble a train with the required loads then empties and hand it off to the road crew and their engine. The curved yard works great, though was a pain to get the way I wanted without switch variants. Curved switches would be great! My secondary save is more of a smooth typical layout for the era, my main save is a more of a modern layout with older era trains.

Good issues at the 17:00 point about diverse loads. Currently RRO seems to be more of a "training area" and would need a bigger, more filled in map to make some of the options usable with perhaps some pre-built villages or resources, maybe even in a "realistic" map (if not real world, maybe based on a real world layout) A pre-made map that shows how a "normal" map would look like "in real life." The sandbox part is great, but maybe a bit like Minecraft... some few things to generate in then a lot of room for you to build and add. Maybe community maps are a fill-in in the meantime.
