My great uncle said a technique like this was actually employed by guys in Vietnam in a pinch to set up a quick temporary camp. Apparently, it was an olive drab colored saran wrap type material that came on big 3 foot long rolls for securing items stacked on pallets and whatnot. At the bottom they'd have it a little long creating a flap to cover with dirt helping keep snakes, spiders and other nasty critters away.

Very interesting! I’ll have to research that for version 2

Nice work if to layer down logs on the bottom you could on make a neat lean too

Definitely going to consider that for my next one

I think I would use a simple backpacking tent still - but use the shrink wrap to make a floor/base for the tent and a roof/rainfly and that hammock sounds cool also a clothes line to dry things came to mind. You could even make something to protect wood in case of an event like you experienced.

Great idea, version 2 will have a lot of improvements

I would rather just bring a tent less work and less garbage to pack out. But the video was well worth the watch, good job and CHEERS:)

Gotta switch things up once in a while, also the roll of plastic was a lot cheaper than a tent 😅

@@aventuraaustralia don't get me wrong, I loved your try at using a roll of plastic to make a shelter . That really got my attention and I enjoyed this video. Good job and CHEERS:)
