Amazing work. The crossing on our garden railway was one of my favourite tasks / now favourite places - it brings a lot of interest to the space. Work is really coming along. Looking forward to the next one. Greetings from Jersey!

Hi! It was fun to build the crossing in my case as well but I have to say I was pretty relieved after the fact when I checked my 2% gradient and the slight curve overhang side to side and it was spot on. With concrete you do it right or again. In this case it was right but I have to do it a few more times along the railway line. But thats for another video :) Greetings from Germany!

Hi! If I do understand right you are interested in concrete work because you want to set up your house foundation. In that case I can recommend odell complete concrete, they show detailed how to set up urban concrete projects like slabs and walls. Look here: kzbin.info/door/5y5SeEYvz_MqPmBU_zLTyAvideos

Hi Éric! The screwing rail connectors are manufactured by massoth. There are some different options on the market but I would get them from massoth. You can find them on their website or on eBay. Have a nice day! www.massoth.de/product-category/railclamps/

I really liked the stone walkway with the separation between the big rectangle pavers with the lines of smaller square stones but I gotta be honest seeing the 2 rows of medium sized square stones at one end, versus one line of the big ones at each end, bothered me! haha

It is kind of symmetric but not quite. I hope you will get over it.

What an amazing hobby project! Is heat expansion a worry for you? Given the size of the railway?
@summitrailway
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
You have to account for heat expansion, especially if you set part of your track in concret (like I do for railroad crossings). I am using expansion pieces in my track which allow for a few centimeters of expansion or contraction. This gets rid of most track movements which I dont want in certain areas.

May I suggest that next time up lay pavers you use "play ground sand" or the finest grind you can get. Experience has taught me that using sand will make for a much easier job and less leveling. I understand that you could choose to use pea gravel but it will settle over time and you will have to re-level. Sand is so fine that it is almost packed from the start and will limit your pavers movement. Now if you wanted to see the pea gravel you could have finished the pavers with it and then swept off the loos stuff. Nice job over all though. Good Luck and keep it up
@summitrailway
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your imput. Regarding the concrete pavers I set at the beginning your approach would be absolutely correct. Get a level and firm base out of gravel, put down some sand, level it and lay down the pavers. Since I was mostly laying down natural pavers which have much bigger seems between them I have used the method that you can observe all over germany when it comes to lay down those pavers. Sand might work too I suppose but why touch a running system. Up to this point I have not observed any settling yet.
