That first IBC tote dump into the trailer had me laughing when the pieces went out the other side. What about dumping them over from the back of the trailer so they all fall into the trailer? I've transitioned to using totes as my staging to make bundles. Load the IBC totes to dry the wood and then fork them into the shop and bundle out of the totes. Great videos and love seeing the progress.

Looks good at it but I think you need a set of chains for your firewood baskets if you watch Allen Family firewood I know there's no completely open face but I think you can get away with the same with your totes if you had them chained to your forks with the bigger tractor you'd be able to lift it up higher and dump it into your dump trailer without having to drop the whole basket cuz eventually they're going to wear down and may start busting apart

Great video Adam. As others have said, you need 180 rotating forks to dump those totes. Secondly, did you just have the quarry dump the stones for the content when they actually can spread the stones while unloading to save you some unnecessary work? Third as a side hustle along with everything else you're doing, maybe you could offer training on tractor, mini excavator for local people up there in PA. You're a former accountant, you could figure an hourly rate to charge people to get them some training on either one, make some extra money on the side and help people feel a little more comfortable that they too could rent/own/ operate these types of equipment. Could do the same with the firewood processing equipment too. Just a suggestion.

The ground was too soft to get the dump trailer on. Hence the need for the road
@noelgreen93813 ай бұрын
That little road needs a crown in the middle, so water will run off to either side. Also a trailer parked straddling the crown would be level. Hard to tell if that is the case, but if not your soft problem will continue as the water will hold on top and seep down,

Side note: keep and stockpile every 24"+ stone on your property when you find them, even bring them home when your out and about with the excavator. You can use the big stones for all sorts of projects and they sell for a lot especially if you have them lined up and organized (customer can pick their flagstone or decorative rock) and you install. The proper campsite for a trailer is actually probably better in the area behind the bench, where you could add a fire pit... but you might need to take down some of the trees or relocate them to make a good campsite. Not sure people would want to plop a camper down on a narrow gravel strip with no room.

I saw comments about rotating forks - curious if you had ever considered those and what the pluses/minuses are from your perspective? I was also wondering if you had considered the Hard Working Man/Old Guy Firewood IBC modifications to make dumping them out a bit easier?

@ThePrevo023 ай бұрын
fitting the forks with a hopper attachment maybe, that way it would tilt all the way down. A little bit of welding is all it would take, I'm sure Doug could figure out an easy way to get the baskets to hook onto the hopper attachment.

Even when you do it on concrete which is the best case scenario you can’t Get it all unless your scooping from a massive pile. The idea is to eliminate steps in handling, And unless you want to spend$$$ upfront that comes from trial and error, from the errors comes experience then follows innovation.

@OldIronAcres3 ай бұрын
So... the age-old question.... landscape fabric! Why did you choose not to use it? The way you were saying it was muddy there (or the soil was staying damp) seems like fabric might have worked nice there, to not let the rocks sink into the dirt. Doesn't seem to be a high traffic area, so probably not too much of a big deal. Not saying anything you did is wrong!!! just wondered if it crossed your mind! Great job Adam. Best, -- J. Andre. / Old Iron Acres

Hi there. Few suggestions: make or buy swivel fork for tractor - will save time and tote rack + will be much easier; In our country most of truck drivers have chains for rear hatch - depend of fraction of gravel and needed layer they'll open a hatch and there will be A LOT less work to lay gravel. P.S. If You would make swiveling fork Your subscribers definetely will enjoy this process. Good luck!

You should have crowned the road before you put the rock down. All that rock is nothing but a filter and rain is going to go right through it and into those holes and ruts and will stay soft and will be even worse because it can't dry out any because of the rock. What you should do next is get a big truck load of crushed concrete and spread it out 3 to 4 inches thick, the thicker the better. If it comes dry that's ok spread it out wet it good and roll it in. It will become like concrete and water will run off and it will be flexible and if it breaks its self healing . Roll it in good. No you don't need fabric like someone suggested you want to shed the water off the top of you damn so you can drive something heavy on it with out sinking in....good luck right now what you did your collecting water.

Its been a million years since youve been into the woods. Doing tree work is what I came here for - weather its cutting down trees, splitting wood or sawing it. Also - the subs are going up too slow, so if yo do this and stop the subs begging - Im confident the rest will follow. When I find a new channel that I find interesting - its entirely due to CONTENT. I then go through all of the previous videos and I did the same with your videos - watched almost all of your videos. When doing that - can you imagine how annoying it is to listen to the same music and" Please subscribe and click the thumbs up" every 15-20 minutes - I wish you and your lovely family the best and a Happy Halloween.
